Lena's POV

I started slowly, choosing my words with care, because I already sensed how delicate this was for Lucian.

If I rushed him, he would shut down. If I pushed too hard, this could turn into a fight, and that was the last thing I wanted. I did not come all this way to argue. I came for clarity.

“Yeah?” he answered softly, his voice calm but cautious.

My heart thumped painfully in my chest. I hated how nervous I suddenly felt. I hated that I cared this much.

He noticed my hesitation almos

Lena's POV Julian clapped his hands once, loud and dramatic, like he was sealing a deal. “Do it,” he said, eyes narrowing playfully. “If you don’t, I’ll know something’s wrong.” My heart jumped straight into my throat. I felt Xander stiffen beside me. When I looked up at him, the hesitation in his eyes was impossible to miss. He was thinking too much. We both were. So I stopped thinking. Before he could pull away or overanalyze it, I reached for him, fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt, and dragged him gently toward me. I rose on my toes and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. It was brief. Innocent enough to pass as pretend. But it felt like everything. Xander froze. I felt it immediately. His lips were warm, familiar, and for half a second, he forgot to pull away. When we finally separated, his eyes were wide, stunned, like his mind had not caught up with his body yet. Julian stared at us, mouth open. I forced a smile, resting my hands lightly on Xander’

  • TRAPPED AS THE CEO'S ex-wife    Chapter 70

Lena's POV After Xander and I had a proper night’s rest, the morning came softly, like it was trying not to startle me. Sunlight filtered in through the curtains, warm and gentle, and for a brief second I forgot where I was. Then I heard voices downstairs, laughter, the clink of plates, and reality settled in. Florida. Julian’s wedding. Pretending. I took a deep breath before getting out of bed. Breakfast felt… strange. Not bad. Just strange. Xander sat across from me at the dining table, dressed casually, sleeves rolled up, hair slightly messy in a way that looked unfairly good on him. If anyone walked in without context, they would think this was normal. A married couple having breakfast at his parents’ house. Easy. Familiar. He passed me the butter without asking. I murmured thanks. Our fingers brushed, briefly, and I hated how natural it felt. Julian had already eaten quickly and dragged Xander out with him, something about errands and wedding stuff. Even with everything g

Lena's POV Xander finally woke up, stretching lazily like someone who had slept far too comfortably. I turned my face away quickly, pretending to be very interested in the curtains, even though my heart was already awake before the rest of me.We took turns showering, carefully avoiding awkwardness. Or maybe pretending it wasn’t there. By the time we were both dressed and ready to leave, the quiet tension from the morning had softened into something calmer, something almost familiar. The drive to his family house felt longer than it actually was. My palms were sweaty, and I kept adjusting my clothes even though nothing was wrong with them. When we finally arrived, the house was already buzzing with noise and laughter. Before I could even process it, the door opened and people rushed toward us.“Oh my goodness, Lena!” Xander’s mum exclaimed as she pulled me into a tight hug. She smelled like home, like warm spices and flowers. “I’m so glad you came.”I smiled genuinely. “I’m glad to b

Lena's POV When I got home, the silence greeted me first. It felt heavier than usual, like the walls themselves were watching me pack my life into a suitcase without asking questions. I moved slowly, folding clothes, arranging shoes, slipping toiletries into a small pouch. My mind was everywhere and nowhere at the same time.I could have told Lucian about the flight. But I didn’t.Not because I wanted to hide it from him, but because I already knew how it would go. Questions. Worry masked as control. That quiet way he watched everything, measured everything, like he needed to keep tabs on my breathing just to feel secure. And honestly, I didn’t have the energy for that.At least I wouldn’t be idle at Julian’s wedding. At least I’d be busy smiling, pretending, playing a role I once knew too well. After packing, I stood in front of the mirror and studied myself. I wore a white long sleeve body hugging top and jeans, simple and comfortable. My curls fell beautifully around my shoulders,

Lena's POV “Uhmm… yes, I know Mr Valentino. Any problem?” I asked.Belle shook her head almost too quickly, a tight smile stretching across her lips like it was practiced.“No problem at all,” she said lightly. “Just stay still so I can roll your hair nicely.”Her tone was calm, professional, but something had shifted. I could feel it. The air around us felt heavier, charged with words unsaid.I stayed still, my hands resting on my thighs as she worked. The soft hum of the curling device filled the room, rhythmic and almost soothing, yet my mind refused to relax. So it really was her.Lucian’s Belle.Any idiot could put the pieces together now. The hesitation. The sudden stiffness. The careful way she avoided my eyes after mentioning his name. I didn’t need confirmation. My instincts had already screamed it.I studied her reflection in the mirror while she focused on my hair. She was pretty. Not in a loud, intimidating way. It was softer than I imagined. Clear skin. Kind eyes. A calm

Lena's POV When I finally reached Groovy Lit, my steps slowed without my permission. The place hadn’t changed much. Same glass windows, same soft jazz playing in the background, same warm smell of coffee and baked pastries that always made the place feel calm even when your heart wasn’t. I spotted Xander almost immediately. He was seated near the window, his long fingers moving across his phone screen, brows slightly furrowed like he was solving a problem that refused to cooperate. For a moment, I considered turning back.Coming here had felt like a mistake the second I stepped through the door. I hadn’t seen him this close in a long time. Not since my life had split into a before and after. But it was too late. He looked up, and our eyes met.I walked over, my chest tight, and sat across from him.“You called me here,” I said, keeping my tone flat.Xander stared at me for a second, like he was confirming I was real. Then his lips curved into a small, hesitant smile.“Hi, Lena,” he s
