Chapter 5

Scarlett could only stay in Mr Jaxon's room as ordered by her master. She only went out to have lunch at the dining table set up by the servants.

It was all on direct orders from the host who contacted Ezra.

"Miss, Lunch is ready," Ezra called from outside Mr Jaxon's room.

"Ah yes, Ezra, I'll be down in a minute," Scarlett went downstairs for lunch.

While walking to the dining table, Scarlett met the waiter who had ignored her yesterday.

She smiled sincerely there and walked back to the dining table.

Pluck!

"Ouch," Scarlett deliberately tripped and fell there.

Because Scarlett's skin is very white and sensitive, her knees are immediately reddened and bruised.

Scarlett looked at the waitress named Ellie. But she had yet to learn what the waitress' name was.

"Miss, are you all right?" Ezra came to help Scarlett up.

"I'm fine, Ezra. Thank you," Scarlett smiled again and continued her walk towards the dining table.

"Why is there so much food, Ezra? Who would eat this much?" Scarlett asked again.

Just as Scarlett was about to eat, she heard footsteps approaching. She thought it was Mr Jaxon, but it wasn't. The man was with Mr Jaxon the first day they met.

Who that man was, Scarlett didn't know.

"Good afternoon Miss; I am here on direct orders from Mr Jaxon. And here is your new mobile phone," Philip handed Scarlett a brand new one.

A mobile phone whose screen can be swiped and flipped, the Apple mobile phone is on the rise now.

Scarlett was still staring at the mobile phone. Is this phone really for her?

"The mobile phone only has the numbers of me, Mr Jaxon, and Ezra. Other than the three numbers listed there. You are strictly forbidden to contact anyone else. Remember, Miss, whatever you do with that mobile phone, Mr Jaxon will know immediately. Because the mobile phone has been set up so you can directly connect to Mr Jaxon, please be wise in doing something, Miss. Because for every mistake you make, someone else will have to pay for it. Do you understand?" Philip asked.

Scarlett nodded while looking at Philip.

"Then I take my leave. Good day Miss," Philip bowed respectfully, left the mansion, and returned to his office.

***

When Philip arrived at the office, Jaxon gave him a sharp look.

"I have sent her mobile phone. And Miss Scarlett looks happy."

"Hmm," Jaxon replied.

He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.

He thought back to all that was inside Scarlett, a petite woman who was far from his ideal type. But her attractiveness keeps Jaxon thinking about her.

Jaxon's eyes opened again when he saw a message on his mobile phone: Scarlett's number because he had given it to Scarlett.

"Sir, can I go to the reading room? Ezra said there's a reading room here," message by Scarlett.

Whack!

Jaxon threw his mobile phone on the table, and Philip picked it up and read the message.

"Let her go to the reading room; just keep an eye on her every move," Jaxon ordered.

"Yes," the message was sent.

It wasn't Jaxon who sent her; it was Philip.

"Ezra, Mr Jaxon said I can read in the reading room. It is a message from Mr Jaxon," Scarlett showed her mobile phone to Ezra.

Just as she was about to open the den door, Ezra's mobile rang, and it was a direct call from Mr Jaxon.

"Hello, Sir," Scarlett paused as Ezra picked up the phone and knew it must be Mr Jaxon.

"Leave her in the reading room. Make sure she doesn't do anything else. If she does something and gets hurt, then all of you will suffer the consequences of her carelessness!"

Jaxon switched off his mobile phone before Ezra could answer.

"What did Mr Jaxon say?" asked Scarlett curiously.

"It's nothing important. Sir is only saying that you should be careful. If you get hurt, someone else will be the victim of your carelessness," Ezra replied, shocking Scarlett.

"What does that mean? Why does it have to be like that?" Scarlett muttered to herself.

"Come, Miss, please," Ezra opened the door to the room.

Many books are neatly arranged on each shelf according to the type and author. Everything is impeccable and well-organised there.

Scarlett was amazed to see thousands of books there. There were all kinds of books there. There were even novels and history books.

Scarlett's choice fell on history books about very global stories. Scarlett's favourites are stories about world wars and civil wars.

The room here is very cosy, according to Scarlett. She will feel at home every day, reading the many books here.

Jaxon constantly monitors Scarlett's movements through his laptop. There were no suspicious movements.

He even saw Scarlett walk out and come back in with a glass of juice in her hand.

***

It was late afternoon and turning into evening. Ezra had told Scarlett that Mr Jaxon was not coming home for dinner. So Scarlett could eat first.

Scarlett returned to Mr Jaxon's room. It was already 9 pm, but Mr Jaxon was still not home, so Scarlett fell asleep on the sofa waiting for him to come home.

At exactly 23:15, Jaxon's car arrived home, driven by Philip as usual.

"Come, sir."

"No, you don't have to drive me! You can go home," Jaxon went straight to his room without looking at Philip again.

The house was deserted. Only Ezra was still there. She had to ensure everything was fine before she could return to the back house because it was indeed at night that no one was allowed to roam inside the main house.

"Is there anything you want, sir?" asked Ezra.

"No! Go back to rest!" after saying that while giving a slight smile Jaxon went straight to his room.

Creaked!

The door to the room was opened, and Jaxon saw that the lights were still on properly.

He had just returned from his base to check on their contraband.

Once he had removed his suit and shirt, Jaxon headed straight to the bathroom to clean himself up.

But when he came out of there, he saw Scarlett asleep on the sofa with a towel in her hand.

How innocent Scarlett's face looked when she was asleep. Very beautiful and looks very peaceful in Jaxon's sharp eyes.

Jaxon pushed aside the strands of hair that partially covered Scarlett's face, and that peaceful face deeply touched Jaxon. Slowly but surely, Jaxon's big hand touched Scarlett's soft cheek.

Beat!

Jaxon's heart was beating unusually fast.

Even now, Jaxon's blood rushed violently. His body quickly responded when he touched Scarlett's slightly chubby cheek.

"No! I'm not weak. I don't need women. They will only make me weak. I won't be weak just because of a woman!" he braced, dismissing his admiration for the woman.

Then, Jaxon lifted Scarlett's body onto his bed out of pity as he saw Scarlett sleeping on the sofa.

Yes! Just a pity party! No more than that. That's what Jaxon believes.

Scarlett, who had fallen into a deep sleep, was not disturbed when Jaxon brought her to bed.

Then he also lay down beside Scarlett.
