LOGINGABRIELLA
I coughed out, letting out the sound I had been holding in for a very long time. I was in a cell, an actual cell, for two days. The air was tight, and I struggled to breathe. My defiance to eat caused me further pain, and this only proved that Marcello wasn’t joking when he said he was going to punish me. I had neither eaten nor drunk any water. For the first time in days, I valued my life much more than I did death. “Anybody, help me!” I screamed. I screamed every single day, hoping that someone would hear me. There was no ventilation, no air. “Marcello! Get me out of here!” I screamed again, my voice weakening. Suddenly, I heard the door open. That was the first time it had opened since I was imprisoned. Light poured in from the hallway, almost blinding. I saw a figure walk in, but the rays of light kept me from seeing who it was. The figure came closer, grabbing my wrists and dragging me up. Then I saw that it was one of Marcello’s men. “What do you want?” I asked, trying to figure out who the person was. “Do you want to remain here till you die, or will you keep your questions and come with me?” he asked. I recognized the voice, the same familiar voice. At that point, I didn’t care. I just wanted to get out of the cell. He dragged me out quietly, as if he was intentionally trying to sneak me away. I could only wonder who he was and why he was helping me, defying the great Marcello. We reached a corner of the hallway, and he slipped me into a room and locked the door. I looked around, it was a simple room with a bed at the center, a cupboard, and a few clothes. It was the room of a modest man. “You’ll be safe here for now. Whenever Marcello chooses to release you, I’ll take you back to your cell so he doesn’t find out that I snuck you out.” “What if he catches you? What if he finds out that you helped me, or what if he goes to check the cell?” “I know Marcello. He never goes into the cells. If he’s tired of torturing you or desperately wants to see you, he’ll have you brought to him,” he said. “Why are you helping me?” He didn’t reply. He only brought out something for me to snack on from his fridge. “You’re the one who brought me that hamburger the other day, right? Talk to me. I feel like I know you, but at the same time, I’m not so sure. Your voice, it rings a bell. Plus, I’m all alone in this house. I don’t know anyone, it’s like I’m losing my mind. It’s like I’m trapped in a cell. Knowing that someone knows me and would risk his job for me really means a lot, and I’d love to know who you are,” I said convincingly. Luca removed his mask, revealing his face. “Oh my God, Luca! What are you doing here?” I exclaimed with joy. Luca was an old family friend I had lost contact with for the longest time. He would always come around our house to spend time with us, especially during Thanksgiving. He was family. Luca smiled and answered, “The obvious, I work here now.” “I mean, I can see that,” I said, relieved to see a familiar face. He ushered me to the bed, and I immediately grabbed the food from his hands and began to eat. “How long have you worked here?” I asked while eating. “A while.” “Wow! So you’re one of Marcello’s masked guys,” I said with sarcasm. He laughed. “I must say, you’ve really grown.” “I know, right?” I said, gulping my drink. “To be very honest, when I saw you, I couldn’t believe it was you,” Luca said. “How did you get yourself mixed up with Marcello?” I asked. “I should be the one asking you that. Out of all the men, why Marcello?” he replied. I heaved a sigh. “It was Father. I don’t know, but I think he was in some kind of trouble. So he had to marry me off, and you know our slogan.” “Family comes first,” Luca finished. “Luca, you’ve got to help me get out of here. I can’t stand to live another day in this house. Do you know that…” My voice broke. I tried to hold back the tears, but I couldn’t. For the first time since Papi was murdered, a tear rolled down my cheek. “Father is… Father is dead. He was murdered by Marcello.” Luca exclaimed, pulling me close and offering comfort in a hug. I stayed there for a while, then slowly pulled away. “Marcello killed my father and made me marry him. As if that wasn’t enough, he took over Father’s properties. What was meant to be mine was taken away. He’s ruined my life, and I’m going to ruin his too. Maybe that’s why you’re here. Maybe you’re here for a reason. You’re going to help me, Luca. You owe it to Father to help me avenge his death.” “Ella, it’s not as easy as you think.” Luca said. “I know, but you’ve worked here the longest, you know everywhere. All you need to do is point me in the right direction and I'll take it from there…” I said. There was a sudden, heavy bang on the door. A voice called out, “Luca, are you in there?” It was Marcello. My heart skipped harder than it ever had. Marcello was right outside.Gabriella“I stole it!” I bellowed my voice raspy and weak; I had to lie, there was no way I was going to let Luca get into trouble. “You stole it?” Marcello repeated his tone laced with doubt.“Yes, from a random maiden, she had no idea I stole it, so yeah, you can go ahead and punish me for wanting to be free!” I retorted.A small smile played on his thin lips as he clicked his tongue. Then he muttered silently, “I don’t believe you.”My heart sank, was he a demon or something? It was as if he had placed me under some lie detector machine.“What?”He narrowed his gaze over me, “I think you aren’t saying the whole truth and you know that can get you in trouble, right?”“What would I gain by lying?” I said almost immediately; he gripped the bars, his face filled with zero empathy.“That’s what I’m still trying to understand, who are you trying to protect?”I swallowed hard, faking a smile, “You’re so delusional, why would I want to protect any of your spawns?”He went mute for a few
GabriellaThe plan was simple: wait until dawn and sneak out of the mansion with the key Luca had provided. But little did I know that my plans were about to be an epic failure.Marcello had been to the House of Hell casino, according to Adrianna, and I was all alone in my room, plotting and mapping out my escape plans.“You look distant!”Andrianna's voice jolts me out of my reverie, and I feign a smile. “I’m just sad about my father’s death!” I muttered, leaning against the headboard, and she caressed my hands softly.“I know what my brother did to your family is terrible and there is no amount of apology that would heal that wound!” She pleaded.I swallowed, nodding, pretending to understand what she was saying, but deep down I needed her to leave so I could escape. I stared at the wall clock behind her. It was almost six pm. “Thank you, Andrianna, thank you for keeping me company but I’d like to take a nap.”“Oh, it’s alright, I’d let you rest.” With that Adrianna stormed out of
Gabriella The man burst into loud laughter and I shook with fear, what was he laughing about? “Of course I know you and guess what? I’m not scared of you,” He snarled, turning to face me, “this lady is coming alone with me.” I should be jubilant and joyous, but I wasn’t. Who knows, he might be just as bad as Marcello was. A smile played on Marcello's mouth then he took one step closer but the man tightened his grip on my neck. “Any more move and I’d slit her throat!” He threatened. Shit! This can’t be happening to me, why did I even come here in the first place? “Don’t hurt her!” Marcello said emotionlessly his gaze locked on mine, he then winked at me but not in a flirty way, but in a way that suggested that I try to hit the man who was holding me. “I will do what I want with her!” He said and that’s when I felt the pistol kissing my head. Shit! I was totally fucked, Marcello gave me that wink again and it nearly drove me insane. How can he ask that of me? I was lanky, wea
GabriellaIt wasn't what I expected the place to look like. It wasn't just a normal date, it was a business meeting and I was his date, his trophy wife, one he could show off to his hungry-looking friend.“Shit!” I muttered when I almost tripped, and he squeezed my hand lightly, staring at me.“Are you okay?” He asked and I rolled my eyes. Why was he acting like he cared all of a sudden, I adjusted my dress looking away. “You don’t have to act like you care we both know you don’t give a fuck about me, this is just a facade, to deceive your gullible and evil friends.” “Maybe, but then it’s better you behave yourself or I won’t hesitate to waste you here!”I stiffened immediately; something about his tone told me he was serious. Was he earnest? So I wasn’t even safe here? “And do not drink anything here or you might end up with your father!” He added. Shit! That was insulting but necessary. I was going to pour myself a glass of tequila to maybe loosen up and force a smile but now
Gabriella “Oh my….” I gasped when I realized I’d missed, he dodged so the knife hit the wall falling to the marbleFall. I tried to kill my father’s murderer yet I failed once again. I’d expected him to flare up or even slap me hard across the face but instead, I got no reaction, he kept his facial expression straight and emotionless as if he was considering killing me on the spot or starving me for the next five days like he always did.“I’d have skinned you alive but I’m in quite a good mood because we have a date to attend, wife,” he said taking a step forward, we were now standing face to face.He lifted my chin so I could look into his big black eyes that had no soul in them and then a small smile played at the side of his lips, “ Get ready wife, but don’t waste my time.”He motioned to Luca to carry me back to my room, which he did. I was so shocked that I had no words. I thought I would be punished, but instead, here I was in my room, preparing for a stupid date I didn’t wan
Marcello“Dispose of him,” I commanded, pulling off the blood-soaked gloves I wore, a smile playing on my lips as I reminisced on how I’d dealt with Sebastian, a reminder that no one messes with my family and goes scot-free; they always suffer. I disposed of the gloves in the bin, crouching to stare at Sebastian's limp body. While I waited for two of my men to drag him away towards the dark hallway, his neck slumped to the side.I brought out the pocket square wiping my hands. I was still wearing the tuxedo I wore to my weddings, I didn’t have enough time to change, and I had to attend to pressing issues that Sebastian was trying to escape from the basement I kept in. “Are we done here?”Luca asked, his voice jolting me out of my reverie. “Of course, we are, he’s dead after all,” I said walking towards the hallway, Luca flanked me, trying to keep up with my pace. “I have news on the men spying on the House of hell!”Luca boomed and I stopped in my steps, my attention grasped now.“
