Gabriella

The plan was simple: wait until dawn and sneak out of the mansion with the key Luca had provided. But little did I know that my plans were about to be an epic failure.

Marcello had been to the House of Hell casino, according to Adrianna, and I was all alone in my room, plotting and mapping out my escape plans.

“You look distant!”Andrianna's voice jolts me out of my reverie, and I feign a smile.

“I’m just sad about my father’s death!” I muttered, leaning against the headboard, and she caressed my hands softly.

“I know what my brother did to your family is terrible and there is no amount of apology that would heal that wound!” She pleaded.

I swallowed, nodding, pretending to understand what she was saying, but deep down I needed her to leave so I could escape. I stared at the wall clock behind her. It was almost six pm.

“Thank you, Andrianna, thank you for keeping me company but I’d like to take a nap.”

“Oh, it’s alright, I’d let you rest.” With that Adrianna stormed out of my room, a heavy sigh escaped my lips, the one I didn’t realise I was holding.

“Good riddance!” I griped, as I slowly opened the door with the golden key. The hallway was unusually quiet today. Usually Marcello had stationed some guards at my door but today they weren’t here. Maybe it was a good day for me.

Somehow I managed to sneak out of the mansion through the back door. It was huge. One could get lost in here but I managed to figure it out. Finally, I was out, the cold breeze brushed against my skin and relief descended on me.

“What do I do next?” I thought to myself looking around, a few guards secured the huge gates, I hid behind the pillar so no one would see me, I stayed there trying to figure out my next step.

I accidentally stepped on a stone and it fell and crashed to the floor, it attracted the guards, they came running to me but I quickly scurried away, maybe that stone was the distraction I needed because they had left their pose, with that I ran towards the big gate, towards freedom, but what happened next made me froze, the door opened automatically and a black Range Rover drove in almost hitting me.

I recognized the face in the driver's seat, it was Marcello, he was back. I swallowed hard thinking of the next line of action to make.

Should I just run towards freedom or….

It was too late, the door had already clicked shut and Marcello had sighted me so I began to shiver nervously, I should have waited for Luca to give me a go-ahead and not act on my own.

He got out of the car slowly , “Where do you think you are going?” He asked, his voice laced with so much authority, he was wearing a black crisp suit and he had a shade on.

“Away from you!” I scowled.

“Who let you out?”

“None of your business Marcello!”

There was no way in hell I was going to tell him the truth!

A rumble of laughter escaped his lips and my heart kept, this wasn’t a good sign. He wasn’t laughing out of happiness and that’s for sure.

“You'd better get back to your room, for your own good!”

“Or what? What will you do, ask your guards to throw me into the cell like some wild animal? I’m your wife I should be treated with respect!”

“Why didn’t you think about that before trying to escape?”

I went quite immediately, he’d gotten me already, I had nothing else to say in my defense.

Then he added, “Don’t let me ask the guards to throw you back into the cell, go on your own accord!”

“No, you need to let me out, I don’t want to be married to you, we don’t even love each other, you’ve already killed my father and taken my properties, what else do you want from me, my life?”

“Then I have no choice but to torture you again, capisce!” He whistled and the guards came running, “Why is my wife wandering around?” he asked them

“We didn’t know she was out here, boss,” one of them answered shakily.

“A little girl lured you and you fell for it, how can I even entrust my estate in your hands?”

“We’re sorry boss.”

“No it’s too late for that, you’re fired, that’s for being careless, take her back to the cell and leave my estate at once!” He commanded taking off the shade and walking back into the mansion.

“No, you can’t do this to me!” I yelled as the guards dragged me roughly back to the dark cell. I passed Luca who stared at me in shock, his face filled with disappointment. They threw me into the cold ground of the cell brushing my elbow.

I sat there for a few minutes, reminiscing on what had happened. If Marcello hadn’t shown up I’d be free in the streets of New York, my life would be peaceful and I’d be a free woman again and then I could plan my revenge.

But now it was just a dream because the white rabbit caught me again, my vision blurred as tears burned my eyes, I couldn’t keep leaving like this!

I heard distant footsteps and I sat up immediately wiping my tears with the back of my hands, at first it was a tall huge shadow then I saw Marcello’s face glowing as the candlelight shone on his face. He had a wicked smile plastered on his face, what the hell did he want this time?

He smiled down at me, “Let’s play a game, shall we?”

My heart began to race but I hid it with a frown, “I’m

Not interested!”

He lifted the key to my face and I stiffened. “Who gave you this? Tell me the truth and then maybe I’d consider letting you go.”

What?

Was this a trap or was he serious about this?

Gabriella“I stole it!” I bellowed my voice raspy and weak; I had to lie, there was no way I was going to let Luca get into trouble. “You stole it?” Marcello repeated his tone laced with doubt.“Yes, from a random maiden, she had no idea I stole it, so yeah, you can go ahead and punish me for wanting to be free!” I retorted.A small smile played on his thin lips as he clicked his tongue. Then he muttered silently, “I don’t believe you.”My heart sank, was he a demon or something? It was as if he had placed me under some lie detector machine.“What?”He narrowed his gaze over me, “I think you aren’t saying the whole truth and you know that can get you in trouble, right?”“What would I gain by lying?” I said almost immediately; he gripped the bars, his face filled with zero empathy.“That’s what I’m still trying to understand, who are you trying to protect?”I swallowed hard, faking a smile, “You’re so delusional, why would I want to protect any of your spawns?”He went mute for a few

Gabriella The man burst into loud laughter and I shook with fear, what was he laughing about? “Of course I know you and guess what? I’m not scared of you,” He snarled, turning to face me, “this lady is coming alone with me.” I should be jubilant and joyous, but I wasn’t. Who knows, he might be just as bad as Marcello was. A smile played on Marcello's mouth then he took one step closer but the man tightened his grip on my neck. “Any more move and I’d slit her throat!” He threatened. Shit! This can’t be happening to me, why did I even come here in the first place? “Don’t hurt her!” Marcello said emotionlessly his gaze locked on mine, he then winked at me but not in a flirty way, but in a way that suggested that I try to hit the man who was holding me. “I will do what I want with her!” He said and that’s when I felt the pistol kissing my head. Shit! I was totally fucked, Marcello gave me that wink again and it nearly drove me insane. How can he ask that of me? I was lanky, wea

GabriellaIt wasn't what I expected the place to look like. It wasn't just a normal date, it was a business meeting and I was his date, his trophy wife, one he could show off to his hungry-looking friend.“Shit!” I muttered when I almost tripped, and he squeezed my hand lightly, staring at me.“Are you okay?” He asked and I rolled my eyes. Why was he acting like he cared all of a sudden, I adjusted my dress looking away. “You don’t have to act like you care we both know you don’t give a fuck about me, this is just a facade, to deceive your gullible and evil friends.” “Maybe, but then it’s better you behave yourself or I won’t hesitate to waste you here!”I stiffened immediately; something about his tone told me he was serious. Was he earnest? So I wasn’t even safe here? “And do not drink anything here or you might end up with your father!” He added. Shit! That was insulting but necessary. I was going to pour myself a glass of tequila to maybe loosen up and force a smile but now

Gabriella “Oh my….” I gasped when I realized I’d missed, he dodged so the knife hit the wall falling to the marbleFall. I tried to kill my father’s murderer yet I failed once again. I’d expected him to flare up or even slap me hard across the face but instead, I got no reaction, he kept his facial expression straight and emotionless as if he was considering killing me on the spot or starving me for the next five days like he always did.“I’d have skinned you alive but I’m in quite a good mood because we have a date to attend, wife,” he said taking a step forward, we were now standing face to face.He lifted my chin so I could look into his big black eyes that had no soul in them and then a small smile played at the side of his lips, “ Get ready wife, but don’t waste my time.”He motioned to Luca to carry me back to my room, which he did. I was so shocked that I had no words. I thought I would be punished, but instead, here I was in my room, preparing for a stupid date I didn’t wan

Marcello“Dispose of him,” I commanded, pulling off the blood-soaked gloves I wore, a smile playing on my lips as I reminisced on how I’d dealt with Sebastian, a reminder that no one messes with my family and goes scot-free; they always suffer. I disposed of the gloves in the bin, crouching to stare at Sebastian's limp body. While I waited for two of my men to drag him away towards the dark hallway, his neck slumped to the side.I brought out the pocket square wiping my hands. I was still wearing the tuxedo I wore to my weddings, I didn’t have enough time to change, and I had to attend to pressing issues that Sebastian was trying to escape from the basement I kept in. “Are we done here?”Luca asked, his voice jolting me out of my reverie. “Of course, we are, he’s dead after all,” I said walking towards the hallway, Luca flanked me, trying to keep up with my pace. “I have news on the men spying on the House of hell!”Luca boomed and I stopped in my steps, my attention grasped now.“
