LOCATION: EDENRIDGE MANOR – FRONT GATESTIME: 9:04 p.m.Solene stood at the edge of her own death.Hair braided tight. Dagger in one boot. Cyanide capsule in her bra.No back door. No rescue plan. No second try.The guards didn’t stop her.Because they didn’t recognize her anymore. She was no longer the broken girl who bled in silence. She was war, walking.INSIDE – GRAND ATRIUM, 9:17 p.m.Laughter spilled like blood across marble floors. The guests all hand-picked from legacy families danced beneath gold chandeliers. Masked. Armed. Loyal to no one but power. At the center of it all?Morrow.Wearing a crimson dress identical to Solene’s from her first mission.Hair curled the same way.Voice perfected. But it wasn’t the dress or the confidence that made the room freeze. It was the name she used.> “Lady Solene Vairo,” the announcer said.“Daughter of the empire. Wife to Lucien Vairo. Heir of blood.”And when she smiled?Even Lucien watching from the rooftop scope flinched.“She used m

LOCATION: NEW EDEN – HIGH SOCIETY CAFETIME: 10:22 a.m.The city didn’t sleep. It watched. And this morning, it watched Solene not in hiding, not in armor, not in shadow. In silk.Hair slicked back. Black lipstick. No weapons visible. She sat at a public café owned by Romano’s third cousin, in the heart of territory that should’ve killed her on sight.Lucien watched from across the street, sniper scope idle.“I still don’t understand the plan,” Rios said in his earpiece.Lucien answered, “She’s not planning. She’s provoking.”And she was.Because across from Solene, wearing the same bone-white designer coat?Bianca Moretti.Alive. Recovered. Unapologetically venomous.Bianca sipped espresso, eyes narrow.“So… you’ve returned to reclaim what? A name that’s already been reassigned? A child that might not even exist?”Solene smiled. “Don’t you ever get tired of playing second to dead men?”Bianca’s smile cracked, just slightly.“You’re not going to survive this,” she whispered.Solene le

Once. Twice. Her knuckles split on impact.“She’s not just trying to replace me,” she hissed. “She’s trying to erase everything I might’ve loved.”Lucien caught her bleeding hand. She tried to pull away. He didn’t let go.“You don’t have to carry this alone,” he said. She looked up, eyes burning. “Don’t you get it? LOCATION: Rafael’s Safehouse – RooftopTIME: 11:39 p.m.Lucien’s mouth was still on hers.Teeth grazing. Fingers tangled in her hair.It wasn’t lust. It was war.And Solene kissed him like he was the only thing tethering her to the woman she wanted to stay.“You should hate me,” she whispered, biting his lower lip.“I do,” Lucien growled, dragging her into him by the waist. “But not enough to stop.”They crashed against the rooftop wall. Her thigh hit concrete. His hands shoved up her dress. No foreplay. No pretending. His palm slid between her legs slick heat, bare skin.“You’re not wearing anything under this,” he hissed.“Rafael likes control,” she whispered, voice jagged. “So I took mine back.”Lucien froze.“You slept with him?”Solene stared up at him.“No.”A beat.“But I made him believe I would.”And then he snapped.Lucien spun her, pinned her face-first to the cold brick. Pressed against her from behind, one hand on her throat, the other sliding back where she burned for hi

Not for the beauty. For the danger they couldn’t name.Somewhere in this room, Morrow was smiling with her mouth.Somewhere in this room, someone would die.Lucien walked ten paces behind, tuxedo crisp, jaw razor sharp. No one recognized him without his signature insignia. He preferred it that way.He caught up to her near the champagne tower.“Too quiet,” he said.“Not for long,” Solene murmured. “She’s watching me.”Lucien nodded to the mezzanine. A woman in white silk leaned against the railing mask flawless, smile surgical.Morrow.But the eyes were wrong. They weren’t empty. They were waiting.Solene whispered, “She’s baiting me.”Lucien’s voice br
