"Rhea."

It was a deep voice, a growl that usually heralded command or disdain. Rhea remained still, but her muscles hardened, a familiar, unwelcome response. She kept her eyes fixed on the whirling tea leaves in her cup, the hint of soothing herbs lost as her hand trembled.

"Ash." Her own voice was flat, without emotion. She would not let him know she was scared, not now. Not since Alpha Row, not since all of this.

He approached more slowly, his boot-clad feet thudding heavily on the slick stone floor of the common room in stillness. Late, with everyone else of the other Alpha students being in their rooms, leaving only the residual smell of their dominant scents remaining. She'd required the quiet, the brief respite from the constant tension.

"You're still here." It wasn't a question, but an observation, and it was made with a very unaccusatory lack of surprise.

Rhea finally looked up at him. They were the same stormy grey, but there was something different in them. Less feral, more.

The slamming of the door against the wall made Rhea jump, her heart pounding into her throat. Zane cursed, his hand instinctively going to the hidden blade he carried on him."What in the name of the Moon Goddess is happening here?!"Blaze Draven filled the doorway, his eyes afire with a burning, uncontrolled rage. His scent, normally a violent, harsh tang, was now a suffocating wall of raw rage, thick with jealousy and something evil. Rhea could sense the bond snap taut between them, a thudding, crushing pull that left her windless."Blaze!" Zane's voice was stiff, a warning. "Calm down. We were just…""Exactly what, Valez? Dancing? Playing games with my Omega?" Blaze marched into the room, his boots pounding ominously on the wooden floorboards. His gaze was set on Rhea, a feral claimiveness distorting his features. "You believe that this is a game, Omega? That you can flirt with one of us, and another, and play us against each other?""We weren't flirting!" Rhea protested, her voice

  • Triple Temptation   CHAPTER 14

Ready for our little adventure, Mooncrest?Zane Valez leaned against the doorframe of her Alpha Row room, a mischievous glint in his unpredictable eyes. He was dressed casually, a loose tunic and worn leather trousers, a stark contrast to the formal attire most Alphas favored. Rhea clutched the strap of her satchel, a nervous flutter in her stomach. This was her first “designated time” under Kai’s pact, and Zane, true to his word, was making it an event."Adventure?" Rhea echoed, her voice oozing skepticism. "I would have sworn we were going to be 'studying the subtleties of the bond,' Alpha Valez."Zane pushed off from the frame, a playful sparkle on his lips. "Oh, we are. But who says learning can't be… fun? Besides, Kai's definition of 'nuance' involves dusty scrolls and ancient books. My definition involves a bit more rhythm." He nodded down the hall. "Come on, the grand tour is waiting."Rhea followed him, curiosity overcoming her despite herself. He led her away from the gleamin

"Let's talk."Kai Wolfe's voice cut across the tense silence of the private study, sharper than any blade. Rhea, jolted hours earlier by Ash's unexpected apology, wincingly twitched. She sat facing the four Alphas, the great oak table between them appearing less barrier than a stage for an impending inquisition. Ash stood by the window, his back to them, a silent, brooding presence. Zane lounged in an armchair, feigning disinterest, while Blaze paced like a caged beast.“About what, Alpha Wolfe?” Rhea’s voice was steady, though her heart hammered against her ribs. She met Kai’s cool, analytical gaze."The bond, Mooncrest. What else?" Kai laced his fingers together, his expression unreadable. "It's unstable. Unpredictable. Your last heat nearly killed half the academy. We can't have another. incident.""My heats are not something to be convenient for you, Alpha," Rhea snarled, a spark of anger flashing in her eyes. "They are a byproduct of your existence, your inability to keep yoursel

  • Triple Temptation   CHAPTER 11

"Rhea," Ash panted, his voice rough, a growl low in his throat. He moved into the bathroom, his gaze on hers. "You're safe now."Rhea wasn't safe. Her brain rebelled with a desperate no, a shriek of fear echoing against the animal thrum that had claimed a place deep within her. Her body, however, was a traitor. Every pulse throbbed with a terrifying need, a craving for the overwhelming Alpha scents that now saturated the small space. Ash, close enough that his heat radiated off him, was a furnace. Zane’s playful, intoxicating scent swirled, pulling at something deep inside her. Kai’s steady, grounding presence was a strange anchor in the chaos, yet even his scent promised a dangerous calm. And Blaze… Blaze was pure, unadulterated fire, igniting a corresponding blaze in her."Safe?" Rhea's whisper was barely audible, a shattered sound. She pushed herself more firmly into the corner, striving to escape the magnetic pull that wanted to draw her into their presence. "You broke down the do

"No! Not now, not here!" Rhea's voice was a rent whisper, echoing off the cold tiles of the Alpha Row bathroom. Her hands trembled as she fought with the lock, the metallic click a useless defense against the fire sparking in her abdomen. The scent, sweet and choking, was already escaping, clinging to the air like a siren's call.A low rumble of a growl sounded from the other side. "Rhea? What's happening in there?" Ash's voice, usually so disciplined, had a feral edge. He was already at the door, his scent piercing the thin wood."Keep back!" Rhea pressed against the door, sinking down until she was crouched on the floor. Her body was betraying her, every nerve ending screaming. "Don't come in!"A second voice, closer now, taunting and yet with a threatening edge. "Little Omega, you smell… intoxicating. Are you sure you want us to stay away?" Zane. His laughter was usually light, but this was a low, throaty growl that vibrated through the door."Zane, shut up!" Kai's brusque command
