Eileen's POV
"I promise you, for a while," I finally said.
Arthur and Brett hugged me tightly, and I could feel their shoulders relax, before they left with the warrior. I was informed to finish breakfast with Amber and join them after.
At the breakfast table, Amber still ate independently without my help. The unease in my heart eased again. I ate silently, but the sweet mate scent still lingered in the air. When they embraced me, my heart had actually anticipated more - kisses, hugs, even further...
Thinking that, I couldn't help clenching my thighs together, my face heating up.
"Mom, are you hot?" Amber asked in confusion.
"No! Sweetheart, I..." I flustered, when Alex suddenly appeared.
"Elleen! Are you two done?" Alex's timely arrival saved me from the awkwardness. Seeing Amber's empty plate, I nodded.
Alex nodded back, then led us to the burial site.
It was a private ceremony with only a few attending.
I kept watching the triplets' two brothers, seeing their stoic faces refusing to cry, standing strong. We paid our final respects and farewells as they lowered their late Alpha into the grave.
I watched the triplets' rigid backs, their shoulders shaking as they struggled to hold back grief, a weight pressing on my chest too.
"Mom?" Amber's small voice pulled me from my thoughts, looking at her. I noticed she spoke more lately, knowing my little girl was progressing well, growing up beautifully always made me smile.
"Yes, dear?" I smiled at her, and she blinked.
"What happens when people die?" she asked, surprising me. Who knew her vocabulary was so advanced? I knew she was observant, she must be smart to pick up on how adults speak.
I took a deep breath, thinking how to explain without scaring her. "Well, they go to a good place," I hesitated, and she frowned in confusion.
"A good place?" she mumbled, and I nodded.
"Yes, Alpha Joseph went to a good place. One day, we'll all go there too," I said, watching her eyes widen in fear. I pulled her close, hugging her.
"Don't worry dear, death isn't scary. What's scarier is being forgotten. As long as your loved ones aren't forgotten, death isn't so scary," I said softly, and she nodded. I didn't know if it made sense, but that was how I felt. In that moment, I knew my perspective on loss and death had profoundly shifted.
As the ceremony ended and we were to head back, suddenly I saw Alex hurrying towards me.
"Elleen, you need to get Amber home quickly," he said gravely.
"Is everything alright?" I asked him, and he shook his head.
"Not good, we received an alert that rogues are crossing the borders. I'm certain they got word of Alpha Joseph's passing. They see this as our most vulnerable time, so they're launching an attack."
An attack...the shameless rogues! How dare they attack when Alpha Joseph just passed! My heart burned with anger too.
"Actually Alex, I can help. You know I'm not weak," I said, knowing I hadn't decided if I would stay with the Black Woods, but...I felt deeply for the pack.
Alex's eyes widened in surprise, but he was quick to refuse sternly. "Elleen, you are strong. If not for that incident, you would have replaced me as the first female Beta of Black Woods. But...the fact is, this attack has even graver circumstances. I believe Arthur and Brett wouldn't want you in harm's way, and neither do I."
"What exactly is happening?" I pressed.
Alex finally sighed. "Our gamma informed us that this rogue attack is extremely large-scale - they are not only attacking our pack, but also..."
"But also what?!" I demanded angrily.
"The Stone Heart pack is also under attack!" Alex finally told me.
I shook my head - I no longer had ties to the Stone Hearts, though I was good friends with Beta Silas and respected by others in the pack. I believed the Stone Heart warriors, trained by me, were fully capable of fending off low-level rogues.
I meant to leave, but Alex's next words froze my blood.
"Alpha Jason has issued a warrant to all packs - he will stop at nothing to find you. We're worried they'll take this chaos as a chance to take you back."
Arthur's POV
"Report, what's the situation over there?" Just as father was laid to rest, the rogues began attacking our pack. What enraged me more was that bastard Alpha Jason was trying to take Elleen from me again.
Never! I won't allow it! I immediately lunged, sinking my claws into one rogue's throat, but they were stronger than the last rogues I killed - their bodies like reinforced bronze and iron. When the rogue noticed my stare, he flashed an evil grin.
"Watch out Arthur!" Brett joined in, pulling me away before the rogue's venom could seep into my heart. Alex was battling another rogue, and I noticed he was indeed struggling.
These rogues seemed unkillable...Brett and I tried reaching Alex, but the rogues sensed our plan, more suddenly descending from above to block our path.
My heart raced as I saw Alex's arm injured, him flung to the ground, the venomous rogue claws stabbing towards his heart. "Look out Alex!" I roared.
Just as I thought Alex would be killed, a white wolf barged in, pinning the rogue down. Her fur sleek and pristine, I caught a mate's scent on her!
Was the white wolf Elleen?! As I gaped, the white wolf instantly plunged her claws into the rogue wolf's heart!
The rogue swiftly died, the white wolf letting out a howl before collapsing -
I tried calling out to her, but she and her wolf form were unresponsive. No, I couldn't lose my mate!
Jason's POV"Alpha Jason, it's of no use. We're getting the same reports" Silas said, walking into my office and I looked up at him with a heavy frown on my face, hoping I wouldn't be receiving bad news but the look on his face already gave me the answer to what I need."What are you taking about Silas?" I asked him and he dropped a file on my desk and let out a sigh looking frustrated."The attacks on the pack borders, they are getting increasingly troublesome with each one deadlier than the last" He said and my heart dropped, I turned away from him and looked out of the window."And none of our methods have been effective?" I asked and turned to see him none, pursing him lips."None of them, Alpha Jason. This whole issue has tongue-wagging. I believe you've heard about the rumors, not just anyone but even the council members are now murmuring" Silas said and my eyes narrowed."What are they saying Silas?" I demanded and he bit his lower lips before blurting out the words."They are
Eileen's POVWhen I woke from unconsciousness, I found myself lying in a familiar room. Memories flooded back - I had shifted into a white wolf and killed the invading rogue wolves. I had never revealed this secret to Jason before, but now, Arthur knew.I tried to get up but saw Arthur standing by the bed, his gaze heavy. That look instantly took me back ten years, when I was thirteen and Luna passed away - the suspicion and rejection from the pack. Nora had told me that despite the white wolf's powerful healing abilities, it was still seen as an omen of misfortune. Had Arthur's attitude changed because of this too?"I will leave with Amber," I said coldly, though my heart ached faintly. The love and protection I had just felt seemed to be slipping away again."Leave? No, Elleen!" Arthur grabbed my hand anxiously. "We need you.""Need me? Why?" I looked at him in confusion."Do you remember shifting into the white wolf and killing those rogue wolves last night? We examined their bodie
Elleen's POVAt this moment, I didn't know what to do. My heart was struggling, too many questions flooded my mind: Why was I being hunted by rogues after leaving the Stoneheart pack? Why did I appear in the prophecy proposed by Alpha Joseph? What impact would my existence bring to the Blackwood pack?Considering my past experiences, I wasn't sure if this was a good choice. As I was about to refuse, I saw the pained look in Arthur's eyes."Elleen, believe me, I swear to the Moon Goddess that no matter what happens this time, I will stand by your side.""Elleen! Accept our mate's request! We need a mate!" my wolf urged me. "We need to kick those guys' butts!"I couldn't continue to leave here in disgrace, I had to unravel the truth!I looked him straight in the eye, then nodded.Arthur's gaze immediately turned scorching hot, his large, fiery palm enveloping the back of my hand. Part of me felt excited, especially by his eager gaze. From the first time I saw him, his gaze carried guilt
Eileen's POV"Ding ding ding..."In the early morning, the phone kept ringing. I hesitated whether to answer it or not.But Arthur seemed anxious, calling me over and over again. Since I hadn't joined the Blackwood wolf pack yet, we couldn't use the mind link.I took a deep breath, ultimately wanting to hear what Arthur wanted from me."Elleen..." Arthur's anxious voice came through immediately. "Why didn't you answer the phone, did something happen?"My fingers touched the silver pendant, and I ultimately chose to conceal this matter. I hadn't figured out the relationship between Kyle and the witches yet, so I didn't want to cause unnecessary panic."I'm fine. Arthur...I was just a little tired last night and slept too deeply," I explained. I heard Arthur breathe a sigh of relief."I thought you took Amber and were planning to sneak away again," Arthur said painfully."No! Arthur, I promised Alpha Joseph that I wouldn't leave without notice," I said firmly. "What happened?" I recalle
Eileen's POVI was happy to see him, but at the same time filled with worry. Anyone from another wolf pack coming to a different pack would be seen as an invader and immediately killed!"Silas...how did you get here?" I suddenly recalled Jason's previous wanted notice for me. "Did Alpha Jason send you?"I became guarded, my claws extending.Silas immediately lowered his head to me. "Luna Elleen...""No! I'm not your luna anymore, Silas," I shook my head."Please, luna! The Stone Heart pack is in terrible condition now. That omega Lina is actually a witch! She betrayed Alpha Jason, and the child she's carrying isn't Jason's. This is all a plot by the dark forces! Now we all need you and Amber to return and help us..." Silas pleaded.Witches...again witches. It seemed like witches had appeared in traces across various packs recently. There must be some grand conspiracy behind it all. I thought of Kyle's disguise again - could he be involved in this?As for Alpha Jason, when I heard Sila
Eileen's POVI stood there, still trying to process what had just happened. One minute I was walking away and the next, Mark was attacking me. But before he could do any real damage, someone appeared out of nowhere and kicked him to the ground.I looked up to see it was Arthur. My brows were raised in surprise. When did he get here? I had not seen or noticed him. Had he been watching the entire fight?"Arthur" I called out softly in surprise.Arthur stood over Mark, his eyes blazing with fury. I was a little relieved. Mark had lost his mind. Eveyrone knew it was an unspoken rule to not attack a soldier who had his back turned to you.Arthur's anger was very obvious and i feel the tension in the air as he glared at Mark. "How dare you," he growled, his voice low and menacing. Everyone in the training field had stopped talking and they froze, watching the scene. They were probably as surprised as I was to see their Alpha come out of nowhere to attack Mark and protect me."A.. Alpha Arth
Arthur's POVAfter Eileen left the dinner table, I took a deep breath and tried to massage my head. To say I was tired was an understatement. Running the pack alone was an underrated job. It was tiring and I couldn't believe how father had managed to run all of these without complaining. The recent attacks on the pack borders was making things increasingly worse for me. I let out a deep breath and got up from the chair. I needed to hold the meeting..I glanced down at my wrist watch to check the time and I saw that it was a little over 8pm. There was still time to talk about things with my brothers. I took out my phone and sent them all a message, including Alex before going to my office.I got to my office and took out my laptop, drinking a glass of water before starting the zoom meeting. While waiting for Alex, Kyle and Brett to join, I kept thinking over everything.I had just lost my father a few days back and I had lost his support and frequent encouragements as well and the weigh
Eileen's POVOne week later! Training grounds."Wrong! Your punching stance is incorrect!" I walked among the training squad, pointing out their flaws one by one.Ever since I demonstrated my strength at the training grounds, and with Arthur's warning, I now received their respect. Finally, the morning training ended. "Dismissed!" I ordered, and the squad quickly dispersed."Coach, good work," they nodded and smiled as they left.I nodded back, preparing to go see Amber. I dragged my weary body through the front door, utterly exhausted from the day's training. My muscles ached, my mind numb. I just wanted to collapse on the bed and temporarily forget this world. After I had beaten one of their own and the strict warning from Arthur, they all respected me now and treated me much better. It was still tiring as I had to stand and watch them, correct them as well for hours. But I guessed it was fun to do.I decided to check on Amber before I went to bed. I saw the time and saw that she sh
Eileen POVA day passed and Alpha Zane kept to his words and I was made to be in charged of over seeing both the male and female's training and I was happy and excited. I couldn't wait to see some real changes around here. After our first training section, I was quite satisfied with the results of what I was seeing. I was thirsty and decided to go get a drink. I walked into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water and then I suddenly noticed one of the maids, an omega, with bruises on her face. She was trying to hide them, but I could see the pain and fear in her eyes. I immediately felt concerned and curious. What could have led to this? It looked like she had been hit and it didn't sit well with me. My eyes narrowed and walked over to her. "Hey, what happened to you?" I asked gently, trying not to startle her.She looked up at me, tears welling up in her eyes. "It's nothing, milady," she sobbed. "I just fell and hurt myself." I raised an eyebrow, skeptical
Eileen's POV"She sure has a big mouth for a lady" he growled angrily."What did you say!" I snapped at him. As ghe wolf continued to challenge me, Alpha Zane's expression darkened, his eyes blazing with anger. He took a step forward, his voice low and menacing. "How dare you challenge a lady who is also my guest?" he snapped, his words echoing through the room. "You should be ashamed of yourself, Miller. Eileen is a respected member of our pack, and she will be treated with the utmost respect."The wolf, Miller, took a step back, his eyes widening in surprise. "I apologize, Alpha Zane," he said, his voice respectful. "I didn't mean to offend. It's just that she spoke with such pride, disregarding me and the rest of the males. I was hoping to show her how it's done."I was losing it now, but I kept my cool. The way he looked down at me and I underestimated me was both infuriating and interesting, I couldn't wait to see the look of surprise on his face whe
Eileen's POV"That's an interesting answer" Brett replied with a wink and I just gave a small smile."Please come with me master Brett, I will lead you to your room on the other side of the hallway" one of the maids stopped and said to Brett and he nodded."Alright, I will see you later Eileen. Don't forget, if you need anything, reach out to me, Alpha Zane is a friend and an ally, try to feel comfortable in his pack" he said and i nodded. He then turned to walk away with the maid leading him to the room and I turned and did the same.We soon got to a door and the maid stopped and bowed respectfully. "Here is where you will be staying Miss, I hope you enjoy your stay here" she mumbled and I nodded and watched her leave.I stepped into my room and I couldn't help but be in awe at the sight before me. The room was extravagant, with a large four-poster bed adorned with velvet drapes and plush pillows. The walls were painted a soft, creamy color, and t
Elieen POV"You're a monster!" Alpha Zane lashed out in shock and anger at his Beta.K stood frozen, my grip still tight on John's fur, he shifted swiftly and lashed out at everyone in the meeting room. The room erupted into chaos, with both Brett and Alpha Zane moved away from John. I was shocked, but I didn't let go of John, tightening my hold on him instead. I could feel his muscles tensing beneath my grasp, his eyes blazing with a fierce determination, anger and pure hatred."Let me go! Take your hands off me now" He screeched in a loud voice that made me shiver in fear. He was less of a wolf and more of a demon now with the way he looked."Be careful, Eileen!" Alpha Zane warned, his voice filled with anger and shock. "We don't know what we're dealing with here!"I nodded, my eyes fixed on John. I knew I had to keep him subdued, or else he could hurt someone. I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins, my heart racing with fear.
Eileen's POVI watched in awe as Brett transformed into a powerful werewolf, his body a blur of fur and muscle as he launched himself at the rogue wolves. The air was quickly filled with the sound of snarling and growling, the scent of blood and sweat hanging heavy over the battlefield. I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins, my heart racing with excitement and fear. The battle was intense, the sound of growling and snarling filling the air. I stood frozen, my heart pounding in my chest, as Brett took down rogue after rogue with ease. But there were too many of them, and soon he was surrounded, his fur matted with blood and dirt. I knew I had to do something, but I was scared and shaken up.But I knew I couldn't just stand there and watch Brett get hurt. Taking a deep breath, I summoned all my courage and transformed into my wolf form. I launched myself at the rogues, my jaws snapping wildly as I tried to take them down. The battle was chaotic, the
Eileen's POVI stood in the living room, my heart racing a little. Kyle, Brett and Arthur were also here and I had packed up. I had agreed to help them by going to the Fang's pack but I never knew it would be so soon, I only had a few hours to pack and get ready before moving out. But I couldn't just leave, I had to inform Alex and Amber. I didn't know if Alex was aware already but from what it looked like, it seemed like he wasn't informed by the triplets of their plan. I didn't know how to break the news to Amber, I was going to be leaving my daughter for what seemed like forever, I wasn't sure how long it was going to take and when I would be returning. I guessed I had to hurry whatever I was going to do over there at the fang's pack up.I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down, and turned to my brother Alex and my daughter Amber. They were sitting on the couch, looking at me with concern etched on their faces."Eileen are you okay? What's going on?"
Eileen's POVAfter I was done talking, the triplets' reaction shocked me. They immediately screamed "no", their voices echoing through the room in unison. I was taken aback by their refusal to accept my rejection. Brett's face was red with anger, Arthur's eyes were filled with a deep sadness, and Kyle's voice was shaking with emotion."What!" I blurted out more surprised than annoyed. After everything they had done and said, I thought they would be happy or at least relieved to see that I was the one rejecting them. They made it clear to me that they weren't interested in whatever it was that we had together anymore. That they didn't need me again and they didn't want me again, why would they say no and refuse? I was confused and frowned at them.Brett took a step forward, his eyes pleading. "Eileen, please," he said. "You can't just reject us like this. No, you can't reject us, we are you mate. You would be ruining all of us by doing so."Arthur's face was twisted in anguish, his eye
Eileen's POVI slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was in the apartment assigned to me in the Blackwood Pack. The room was cozy, with a large bed and a comfortable-looking couch. But it was the scent that caught my attention. The faint scent of Brett and Kyle lingered in the air, transporting me back to the moments we had shared together. I could almost feel their presence, their touch, their love. But then the reality of it hit me like a hard brick thrown to my face in the morning. It was all a lie, it was all an act and pretense, They didn't want me. They had rejected me, shattered my heart into a million pieces. I felt that pain coming back again and groaned, sitting up. Tears foamed in my eyes. Again, first it was Jason, now the triplets, what had I done to deserve such harsh treatments from my own mates, why was everyone doing this to me? Why did I always end up being hurt.It took a lot for me to not break down and start crying at that moment. I felt a p
Eileen's POVI stood there, my body shaking with sobs, my heart breaking into a million pieces. I couldn't believe what was happening. I couldn't believe that the triplets were rejecting me, choosing someone else over me. The pain was suffocating, crushing me beneath its weight.Just as I thought I couldn't take it anymore, the door burst open and Alex entered, not noticing me breaking apart, he walked straight towards Arthur. "Alpha, I need to report an unexpected visit from the Silver Fang pack," he said, his eyes scanning the room. But as he took in the scene before him, his expression changed from confusion to shock. His eyes widened as he took in the sight of the triplets with another woman, and he turned to me, his face filled with concern."What's happening?" He whispered realizing something was wrong. I was sure my eyes were red and puffy at this point. I felt utterly embarrassed and ashamed to face him. I just wanted to leave, I was tired of it all."Eileen what's going on" T
