Chapter 6

POV Samantha

The rest of the trip went well. Jon shook himself out of his bad mood quickly and was soon snuggling with me as we whispered to each other. Jules drove with Steph next to him. The rest of the couples in the van were snuggling and napping.

We stopped after a few hours for lunch and to stretch our legs. We ate a quick meal and then hit the road again.

{Did I do something wrong?} I felt Gavin link me.

I frowned and turned away from Jon so he wouldn't be able to tell that I was mind linking with someone.

{Of course not, why?} I replied.

{Both Jon and Troy told me to leave you alone at the last stop. If I upset you, I'm so sorry}

{No! I'm the one who's sorry. They are being overprotective asses. Please don't listen to them} I sighed.

{Oh! Good! I'll see you soon, then}

{See ya} I turned to Jon who was staring at me.

"Who are you linking?" he demanded.

"Gavin" I replied and he cringed.

"I know. I'm a jerk. I'm sorry" he said and I nodded.

I forgave him quickly though. I couldn't afford to have drama as we entered the Golden pack territory. We all sat up and quieted as we passed into their territory. The road seemed familiar to me as we drove and lost memories rose to the surface of my mind. I remembered playing in these woods with other children that were my friends. We passed my old elementary school and I smiled, remembering how I learned to read there.

Finally we pulled up to the large pack house. It looked much the same as I remembered. About the same size as ours but the new Alpha seemed to take better care of it than Alpha David did. It had been repainted and many repairs had been done. As we pulled up, I saw a large group of people waiting for us by the doors.

"We are to let Dad, Mom and the other van go first to do the introductions. They will signal for us when it is time. When we get out, let Stacy and I go first with Jules and Steph. The rest of you should stay around my sister behind us. Make sure that no one gets near her" Troy ordered and we all nodded.

I watched as a tall dark man greeted my parents with a redhaired lady.

"What are the Alpha and Luna's names?" I asked Troy.

"Alpha Lance. There is no Luna yet. That's his Beta Trevor and Emma, Trevor's mate" Troy answered.

Suddenly a huge blond man strode up to my father and shook his hand. Something stirred in me when I saw him. I felt uneasy but also excited. The man's blue eyes flash toward our van and locked on me. I knew that there was no way that he could see me. The van's window's were tinted so that no one, not even a werewolf could see in. I stared back in disbelief but then the man looked away.

"That was weird" Stacy commented and I nodded. Dad turned to us and nodded.

"Here we go. Don't worry sis. I'll take care of you." Troy promised.

He kissed my cheek and then helped Stacy out of the van. Jules and Steph followed them. Sean and Jon got out next. They helped Ash and then I started to get out. Jon smiled at me and reached in and picked me up. He lifted me out of the van as a loud growl surrounded us. Jon looked confused and set me down. Sean and Ash stood behind me as Jon and I followed the rest of the group over. I heard a hush as the pack sighted me. I could feel the Alpha's eye on me the whole time.

"This is my son Troy and his mate, Stacy" My dad began.

The Alpha shook their hands but didn't look away from me. The beta and his mate did a good job at welcoming everyone though. Dad introduced Jules and Steph and then turned to us.

"This is my son's Beta Jon along with my daughter's bodyguard Sean and his Mate, Ash" Dad continued.

The Alpha sighed and shook their hands as well but kept glancing at me.

"Finally, this is my daughter, Samantha. Some of your pack may recognize her. As you can tell, she is a powerful Omega. We saved her from this packs former Alpha. We will explain everything at the meeting tonight." my Dad said as he looked puzzled at Alpha Lance's reaction.

I shook Beta Trevor's hand and Alpha Lance growled again. He stayed silent as Emma and I shook hands. Both Trevor and Emma sighed when I touched them.

I turned to the Alpha and he stuck out his hand. I looked at it nervously but I knew that there was no way out of shaking it. I was afraid to touch him but I wasn't sure why. I took a deep breath and put my small hand in his large one. I felt waves of sparks in my hand and suddenly I was pulled against a huge chest.

"Mine" it vibrated as multiple growls were heard from my family and friends.

Beta Trevor chuckled uneasily, "Maybe you are just confused by her Omega powers." he suggested as he tried to calm the situation.

"I am not confused. She is mine. DON'T TOUCH HER!" he yelled.

Crap. How could this be happening? I wasn't supposed to have a mate. Suddenly, I heard all of our warriors rush over. This was going to be a blood bath if I didn't do something quickly. I used my powers to calm Alpha Lance and let it roll through all the werewolves around us. I heard a collective sigh and smiled. I eased away from Lance gently.

"It's okay. We will figure this all out." I pushed out of his grasp and suddenly was pulled back by Troy.

Lance looked enraged at this but I put up my hands.

"It's okay. He's my brother. He even has a mate. He's not harming me" I said gently and Lance seemed to calm.

"I'm fine, no one needs to fight. Alpha Lance means me no harm" I announced loudly to my pack and they seemed to relax.

"I will have some of my pack show your warriors to their rooms. Emma will show the rest of you to your rooms and the rest of my pack will bring in your luggage. Let's meet in the Alpha's office in an hour. We have much to discuss" Beta Trevor decided.

"Yes we do" My father agreed with a look of pure rage.

I eased over to him and held his hand. He calmed as we followed Emma upstairs.

"I made sure to put all your rooms on the floor together. Your warriors will be in the floor below you. I hope that they don't mind sharing rooms" Emma explained as she led us to the fifth floor.

"I'm sure that they will be fine" my mom assured her and she relaxed.

She showed us the rooms.

"This is Samantha's room. Sean and Ash, we put you next door to her with Troy and Stacy on the other side." she explained and I smiled.

"Thank you Emma." I said as I hurried into the room and shut the door.

I sat on the bed and buried my head in my pillow. I could hear Emma telling the others where they were staying. Exactly three minutes after she left the hall, there was a knock on my door.

"Go away" I called but the knocking just continued.

I sighed and opened the door to see Troy, Stacey and Jon standing there.

"What?" I snapped as I left the door open and walked back to the bed.

"What? Really? You want to tell us what's going on?" Troy demanded as Stacy shut the door.

Before she could shut it, it opened to reveal our parents along with Sean, Ash, Jules and Steph.

"I would like to know that as well" My dad added as they walked in.

Sean shut and locked the door. He and Jules stood by the door while everyone else sat or leaned on something.

"What do you want me to say? I think that he's my mate. There were sparks and everything" I sobbed as I began to cry.

Troy ran to me and scooped me up.

"Shh. It'll be okay. I'll take care of it." he whispered to me as he rocked me.

"How?" I demanded.

I didn't want a mate. I didn't want to leave my pack or my family. I didn't trust this Alpha. Alpha's could be cruel. They could hurt you whenever they wanted. I knew this from personal experience.

"We could kill him" Jon suggested with a dark smile.

"Hush! Don't say such a thing!" my mom replied but I noticed that the rest of the group didn't seem to think that it was such a bad idea.

"If you kill him, you would hurt Sammy" Mom pointed out and that seemed to change their minds.

"Fine, we won't kill him." Stacy agreed.

"But you could reject him" she added. Troy, Jon and Sean nodded.

"She could but that would hurt them both" Steph explained. Silence engulfed us. I thought.

"We have a month here. We need to help this pack, then at the end of the month, I'll reject him and we'll leave" I decided.

Jon nodded and smiled but the rest of the group looked concerned.

"I don't know, Sammy. The mate pull is strong especially after you've been together for a month." Stacy said.

"You will all just need to help him stay away from me" I answered.

They reluctantly nodded but they looked disbelieving.

"I don't know about this, princess" Dad said but I shrugged.

"Hopefully we can come up with a better plan in the meantime" I replied and he agreed.

"We are going to have to meet the Alpha and Beta soon. Let me get changed" I requested and Sean opened the door. He looked out and was startled to see someone.

"Can I help you?" he asked and we all rushed to see who was out there.

"I'm here to speak with my mate" A deep voice replied and I cringed.

Suddenly, everyone poured out into the hall.

"Sorry Alpha Lance but she wants to change before the meeting" My father explained.

"I see. Does she usually change with Beta Jon in her room?" Lance asked and I looked up to see Jon grinning at me.

"Jon! Get out of my sister's room!" Troy ordered. He shrugged and kissed my head.

"You can't blame me for trying" he joked as he walked out.

Suddenly I heard a bang and growl. I rushed out the hall to find Alpha Lance pinning Jon to the wall by his neck. I rushed over, worried that he would kill him and start a war.

"Calm down, Alpha Lance. He was kidding" I said as I put my hand on his chest.

Lance looked at me and his face softened. He let go of Jon and pulled me to him. Lance buried his head in my neck and took a deep breath.

"GO" I mouthed to Jon and he hurried to his room.

Suddenly Lance froze as he put his nose on my head.

"HE KISSED YOU!" Lance raged and tried to go after Jon but I held on to him.

"Just on the head. Like a friend" I replied.

"Is he?" Lance asked as he buried his head in my neck again.

"Just a friend?" he clarified and I froze.

"Samantha." he said warningly as the silence grew.

"I need to go get ready for the meeting" I replied and he sighed but let me push him away.

"Fine. I will wait for you out here. To make sure that no one disturbs you" he insisted.

"You don't have to do that, Alpha. That's what I'm here for. I am her bodyguard" Sean spoke up.

I was surprised to see him, Jules, Troy and my Father still in the hall.

"Your daughter has a personal bodyguard?" Lance asked my Father.

He nodded, "So does my son and my wife. I take their safety very seriously." Lance nodded.

"I will appoint my best warrior to her as well. She needs to protected at all times" Lance decided. I sighed.

"That really isn't necessary" I began but he glared at me and I stopped.

"Your safety is everything" he said

"In the meantime, I will stay out here with Sean" he added.

I was impressed that he remembered Sean's name. He really was smart as we as handsome. I shook my head. No! I couldn't think that way. I nodded to the men and walked back to my room.

I showered and changed into a semi formal dress. I dried my hair and put on a bit of makeup. I slipped on some low heels and opened the door. I was surprised to see Sean and Lance chatting quietly. At the sound of my door they both turned to me and smiled.

"All ready to go, little one?" Sean asked and I nodded.

"Everyone is already down there waiting for us" he clarified.

"Sorry to make you two wait" I replied with regret.

"It was worth the wait. You look beautiful" Alpha Lance murmured.

He walked up and offered his arm to me.

"What were you two discussing while you waited for me?" I asked as we began to walk.

"You" Lance replied simply. I looked confused so he continued.

"Sean was telling me how they found you. How mistreated you were when you were last here. How smart you are and what you have done with your life"

"Oh, is that all?" I joked and Sean looked at me sheepishly.

"He also explained that no one expected you to have a mate since you're such a powerful Omega. I understand why everyone reacted the way they did" he added and I nodded.

Maybe he would understand why I wouldn't be able to stay with him then.

"How kind of him" I replied and smiled at Sean.

I knew that he meant well no matter what.

{I was hoping that he would let you go if I told him about everything that happened. That he would see how hard it is for you to be here and how hard you worked to build your life back home. It just seemed to make him want you more though, sorry} Sean linked me.

{It's okay. Thanks for trying} Lance looked at me sharply and I cut the link.

We finally reached his office and went inside. Everyone was sitting at a large table. My dad was at one end with my brother on one side and my mother on the other. The other end was empty with Beta sitting on one side of the empty chair and another empty chair on the other side. I went to sit in my usual chair next to Jon but Lance kept ahold of me. He guided me to the empty chair next to the other end helped me sit in it. He smirked and then took the chair next to me at the end of the table. My family and pack looked mad but I smiled at them and sent out waves to calm them.

"Sean has filled me in on what happened the last time you visited this pack. I'm upset that the Council did not see fit to inform me on these details" Alpha Lance began.

"They did it to protect me. Everyone was afraid that I could be kidnaped as a child. I needed to stay secret until I could fully harness my powers and I could defend myself" I explained.

"Defend yourself? I'm sorry, baby but how can you defend yourself?" He asked with a chuckle. The rest of my pack cringed as I glared at him.

"HOW DARE YOU!" I stormed at him. He looked surprised.

"I have trained since I was nine. I excel in multiple fighting styles. I box regularly and am undefeated" I announced.

"Do you fight the wolves in your pack?" Beta Trevor asked in disbelief.

"Of course not. None of them would even touch me. I fight with the humans" I explained and Lance chuckled again.

"So you can fight humans? Ah, well then. Call off all the warriors. You can defend us all." he joked.

"Nooo" I heard Stacy groan as she buried her head in her hands.

I stood up and walked over to Lance. He raised his eyebrows at me.

"I'm not trying to be mean here, baby. I just need you to understand that you still need to be protected" he added. I nodded.

"Oh, really?" I punched him as hard as I could in the nose.

I grinned when I heard the crunch of it breaking.

"What the fuck?" he yelled. I shrugged.

"It doesn't really look like I'm the one that needs protecting, now does it? I'm sick of this meeting. I'll explain to the pack what happened. They won't believe anyone else. We will start training your warriors tomorrow at 6 am. The rest we can figure out later. Do you need a moment, Alpha Lance or can we head to the pack meeting? I hate to keep our packs waiting" I finished.

I glanced at my parents and they both looked at me proudly. Troy gave me a thumbs up and Stacy giggled.

Beta Trevor and Emma both looked worried as did Sean and Jules. They watched Lance carefully.

"Leave us! I need to discuss something privately with my mate" Lance demanded.

"I'm sorry but we will not leave her alone with an angry alpha" Mom replied.

Lance whipped around to face toward her.

"You think that I could harm her? Even if she wasn't my mate, I wouldn't be able to if I wanted." He snapped but my mother was unmoved.

"We have just met you. She has already been abused by an Alpha and I will not allow that to happen again" Troy thundered.

I looked around in alarm. This was going to get ugly, fast.

"She is my mate. MINE. And I am hers. You have no right to keep us apart. It is her choice" suddenly everyone turned to me. I sighed.

"Sean will stay with us. We will meet the rest of you for the meeting" I decided.

"Sean can wait by the door. You can link him or yell for him if you feel uncomfortable, okay?" Lance amended and I nodded. Everyone slowly filed out of the room.

"I'll be right here, little one" Sean said as he walked to the door.

I nodded at him bravely. As soon as the door shut, Lance jumped up and stalked towards me. I backed up until I hit the wall and then sighed. Of course he smirked and put his hands on either side of my head.

"Now, baby, I'm going to let that punch go since I realize that I was being rude and deserved it." he whispered. I nodded and grinned.

"Good, now that we have that all cleared up" I tried to push him away but he refused to budge.

"Nope. We're not done yet. I heard your little plan with the others. It's not going to work. I won't accept it if you reject me. I want you. I need you. The Goddess put us together for a reason and I'm not going to let you run away from this." he leaned in close.

I bit my lip but shook myself out of my stupor.

"You have blood on your face. You might want to wash up." I tried to look bored but I'm sure that he didn't buy it. He smirked.

"Oh, baby. You aren't going to make this easy are you?" he sighed.

"Nope because this isn't a game. This is my life" I snapped and he chuckled.

"Our life, baby"

Well Alpha Lance, did you underestimate her abilities a little bit there? I kind of wish she would punch Jon like that too when he is acting like an asshat. This is about to get even more interesting especially since Alpha Lance knows about her rejection plan...
