Chapter 345

Author: Lightmoon
Marisol tried to get up and shove him off, but Lucian pushed her back onto the bed. He gripped her shoulder with one hand. "Don't move."

The bandages on his hand tore slightly from the sudden movement, and blood seeped through her shirt where his palm pressed down. Still, his expression didn't change as he said coldly, "Marisol, we're technically still married. If I wanted you tonight, you wouldn't have the right to say no. Even if you tried, you couldn't. So don't test me."

Her eyes burned red. Lucian always knew how to push her buttons and stir up her fury with so little effort.

"You really only know how to use dirty tactics, don't you?" she snapped through gritted teeth.

"As long as they work." Lucian climbed onto the bed, caging her beneath him and pulling the blanket over both of them. "Be good. Go to sleep."

Marisol trembled with rage. She struggled and slammed her head into his chest, aiming right at the wound she'd made earlier.

He let out a muffled grunt, then a low laug

A Sorensen family dinner?Picking up the invitation and glancing at it casually, Marisol raised an eyebrow with mild surprise. What new scheme was Nevaeh cooking up now?She and the Sorensens weren't just strangers; they actively despised each other. Now, they were inviting her to a family dinner as if they had good intentions?Still, there was only one way to find out what this was really about. She remembered Amara, whom she'd placed inside the Sorensen household, and pulled out her phone. After switching to the encrypted interface and setting up a virtual number, she sent a message. The response came quickly—several lengthy messages, actually. As Marisol read through each one, her expression grew increasingly cold, and her grip on the phone tightened until her knuckles went white."What's wrong?"Alinta, who was still trying to coax the silent Orion out of his shell, noticed her change in demeanor.Marisol didn't answer immediately. She quickly typed back, seeking confirmati

The truth was, Nevaeh couldn't guarantee anything. Lucian's attitude toward Marisol had become completely unreadable to her. Despite all her assurances to her father, she felt anything but confident. After a moment, something occurred to her. She raised her head slightly, and a sharp glint flashed in her eyes. "Dad, don't worry. I have another plan.""What kind of plan?""30 days is too long," Nevaeh said. "I'll find a way to force Marisol out of the country in the next few days. Once she's abroad, no one will be able to save her."Charles was taken aback. As something dawned on him, his expression shifted slightly. "You're thinking of using... Won't that cause problems?"Nevaeh smiled."Dad, we won't be the ones getting our hands dirty, so why should we care? Nothing will happen to us. I should've thought of this approach from the beginning anyway."Charles began to smile as well.…Amara pressed her ear to the gap outside the study door, straining to catch fragments of the m

"Lucian, Andy! Oh my!"Nevaeh walked in with wavy hair and a pale gold dress. She was startled when she saw the chaos. Things were scattered all over the floor. "What happened here? Is Andy hurt?"She knelt down, and her golden dress pooled around her as she pulled the little boy into her arms. She examined him carefully.Feeling comforted by her gentle voice, Andre instinctively wanted to cry. Yet remembering what his father had just said, he held back the tears and only managed to choke out a word, "Nevaeh.""I'm here."Nevaeh tenderly touched his reddened little face. "It's okay to cry when you're upset. It'll make you feel better. Don't be afraid. I'm right here."Andre shook his head. Nevaeh then looked over at Lucian, who was sitting to the side. "Lucian, what's wrong with him?""Ask him yourself."Lucian's response was casual as he asked, "Did you need something?""Well..."Nevaeh glanced at the child in her arms, uncertain whether to speak. Seeing that Lucian showed n

Stepping into the bedroom, Lucian found Andre sitting on the floor. His back was turned. Scattered around him were shattered model pieces and the torn remains of a lantern painted with little animals. Lucian remembered. Back when Orion first started school, he and Andre had gotten along well. He'd even given Andre that very lantern adorned with hand-painted animals. Thinking back now, it was likely Marisol who had painted it for Orion, who then passed it to Andre. Andre had loved it back then, so much so that he'd stored it carefully in a box. Yet now it lay in ruins. He must've been truly heartbroken. Lucian didn't offer comfort. Instead, he pulled over a chair and sat there. He looked down at Andre's back with quiet detachment. "Did you cry?" he asked. "I didn't!" Andre shot back, his voice thick with emotion."Are you upset?" "No!" "It's okay to cry when you're sad. I'll allow it this time." "I'm not crying." Andre's defiance wavered, but hitching sobs escaped a

Marisol had been resting her head against Orion's hospital bed when the sound of footsteps drew her attention. She looked up to see Nolan entering while rubbing his wrist."What happened?" she asked. Nolan shook his head and replied, "It's nothing. Has Orion woken up?" Marisol shook her head in return. They both fell silent, each sinking into their chair. At last, Marisol broke the silence. "I'm really sorry for what happened. I've already returned the money you gave me to help look after Orion. I'll cover all his medical expenses from now on. I truly am sorry." Nolan remained silent for a moment before asking, "Why are you apologizing for something that wasn't your fault?""But Andre—" "That's not on you either," Nolan interjected. He pressed the bridge of his nose, and weariness clouded his expression. Then, an unexpected question came. "Marisol, are you still planning to leave the country?"Though puzzled, she nodded in response. "By when?" he inquired again. "I

"Mom!" Andre yelled. Realizing what was happening, he bolted after Marisol, only to be caught by the bodyguard stationed at the doorway. Marisol didn't look back. "Take him back to Crimson Oaks Estate," she said faintly. That was his true home. …"Mom! Mom!" Andre screamed, thrashing fiercely against the bodyguards' hold with his fists flailing. Just then, a deep, commanding voice cut through, "Andre Muller." Andre froze mid-motion at once. He looked up at the approaching man with reddened eyes. "Dad," he choked out. "Go home," Lucian said in a cool voice."But—""Home."That single word, devoid of inflection, silenced Andre. With that, Zayne stepped forward to carry him away. "Your hand—" Lucian tried to approach Marisol, but the two bodyguards moved in unison to block his path. She stood behind them, and her face was turned to the side. Her expression was unreadable, and her silence was absolute. The tension stretched until Nolan emerged from the adjacen
