ASTRID POV

I tried to wait for them.

I curled up in Kendrick's bed with his shirt clutched against my chest, breathing in the scent of forest and fire that somehow always calmed me. I couldn’t fall asleep, not really. I just kept glancing at the window, listening for the sound of their return. The silence felt heavier than usual, like the mansion itself held its breath.

Stefan checked on me twice, offering tea and reassurance. “They’ll be back before dawn,” he said. “But you need rest. You won’t help anyone by collapsing.”

I hated that he was right. So I finally let myself lie down, whispering a silent plea to the Moon Goddess to bring them back to me safely.

My eyes closed. The scent of Kendrick's shirt wrapped around me like a second skin.

Then everything changed.

I was no longer in bed.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself sitting in the middle of an open field.

It was night. Cold. Still. The moon above me was impossibly large, unnaturally bright—and full. That made no sense. Be

KENDRICK POVI paced the study like a wolf too long in a cage, each stride a poor attempt to burn off the unease building inside me. Kaiden stood by the hearth, arms crossed tightly over his chest. Stefan leaned on the desk while Andrea perched on the windowsill, her eyes locked on the symbol we'd all seen burned into Astrid's hand."This can only mean one thing," Andrea finally said. Her voice was low, grim. "Astrid is a descendant of the Keepers."Stefan shook his head. "Not just a descendant. She is the Keeper—the last of their kind."The words sent a chill through the room."But that’s impossible," Andrea muttered. She turned to Kaiden. "You said she’s wolf-less.""She is," Kaiden confirmed. "She’s never shifted. But she can feel the mate bond."Stefan frowned. "Shifters who haven’t found th

ASTRID POVThe crescent moon shimmered against my skin, delicate and unreal. My breath caught as I stared at it.It was the same mark Kael had burned from me all those years ago. The one he told me never to speak of. I used to think maybe I imagined it—that it was just some trauma-scabbed memory clinging to me. But it was real. It had always been real. And now it was back. How? Why now?The symbol pulsed softly, almost like it was breathing. I was so lost in thought I didn’t notice Kendrick and Kaiden staring at me until I finally looked up.Kendrick looked like he’d seen a ghost. Kaiden’s eyes had narrowed, calculating. There was something in their silence that chilled me more than the mark. They exchanged a glance. Then silence.I knew they were speaking through the mind-link. I could see it on their faces. What aren’t they saying?Kendrick blinked and finally spoke. "This is..."He trailed off."Strange?" I finished. My voice sounded small. "Kael burned this off when I was eight. H

  • Twin Flames: Claimed By The Ruthless Alphas   Chapter 10

KENDRICKThe second our paws hit the forest floor, everything else disappeared. It was just the night, the earth, and the fury boiling in our veins. Kaiden ran beside me, his stride perfectly matched with mine, twin shadows cutting through the trees. We didn’t speak. We didn’t need to. The bond between us—blood and rage—did all the talking.Astrid’s voice still rang in my ears."Tell him to burn in hell."He would. We ran until the trees thinned and the bitter scent of Iron Claw hit my nose like rot. It was exactly how I remembered it—cold, joyless, wrapped in fear. No wonder Astrid had to run to survive.Kael Dawson had no right to lead anything. Least of all shifters. We burst from the tree line, skidding to a halt just before the pack’s entrance. Kael was already there, waiting. His posture screamed arrogance, but I caught the flicker of fear in his eyes. He knew what was coming. We shifted mid-stride, landing on two feet, bare-chested, breath steady. His lip curled. "Kendrick. Kai

  • Twin Flames: Claimed By The Ruthless Alphas   Chapter 9

ASTRID POVI was standing in front of the mirror, staring at my palm.It was healed. The cut I’d made—slight but painful—was gone. Just... gone. Not even a faint line remained. My skin looked untouched, smooth and unbroken.I didn’t know how long I stood there, holding my hand up to the light. All I could think was: *It healed.* For the first time, something inside me felt different. Like the sleeping part of me had finally stirred. Then I heard the sound of footsteps thundering down the hall—and the next moment, Kendrick and Kaiden burst into the room.I flinched, spinning around in shock. My heart thudded as I stared at them, wide-eyed."What happened?" Kendrick demanded, scanning the room like a wolf ready to rip something apart.Kaiden’s eyes glowed ruby red. He looked ready to kill."I heard you scream," Kendrick said, walking toward me. "Are you alright?"Kaiden reached for my hand. "What happened? Are you hurt?""I’m... I’m fine," I stammered. "I just... got shocked. Something

KENDRICK POVAstrid was halfway to the door when I caught her wrist and pulled her back."I'm sorry," I said. The words tasted like gravel. She looked at me for a moment, then turned to Kaiden as he approached behind me. Her expression was unreadable, but there was hurt in her eyes, the kind that lodged itself deep."I won't stay here if this is how you and Kaiden will be," she murmured. "You're both the Alphas, and no matter how hurt you are that he left, it's time to move on and forgive him. And you shouldn't let sharing a mate come between you."Kaiden came to stand at her other side. He took her hand and kissed it like he’d rehearsed the gesture. Smooth. Predictable."You're right," he said. "It isn't fair of us to put you in the middle. I promise, we won't fight over it again."Astrid looked at me, waiting.I hated how easily Kaiden could say the right thing. Like he hadn’t shattered everything just by leaving. Like he hadn’t left me alone to carry Lunaria on my back.Still, I fo
