I didn’t wait for the wolf to ready itself, and instead, I charged toward it with the hatchet primed and ready to slice it open. I swung out for its throat as I reached it, but it was faster than I gave it credit for. The wolf jumped back while lifting the top half of its body at the same time, meaning the hatchet only just connected with its chest. Enough to cut through the skin, but not deep enough to debilitate it. As I was running full pelt, I couldn’t stop before colliding with the stinky beast, so I drop my shoulder and rammed myself into its upper chest as we collided.
