A few days later, the police suddenly summoned us.

Lily and I arrived at the station, nervous and unsure of what to expect. To our surprise, the officers had good news.

"We've found an eyewitness," the officer said, offering a faint smile. "He saw the entire kidnapping happen."

An eyewitness?

Lily and I froze for a moment, barely able to believe what we were hearing.

"Who was it?" I asked quickly.

"It was the security guard stationed at the hospital entrance," the officer replied. "He witnessed the whole thing. He said it was a woman who instructed the kidnappers to abduct you."

"A woman? Who was it?" Lily asked with a trembling voice.

The officer looked at us steadily and slowly said, "Annie Morgan."

It really was her!

Lily and I exchanged a look, overwhelmed by a rush of complicated emotions.

We had speculated over and over about who might have been behind it all. But even after everything, we hadn't truly believed it would be Annie.
