Yewa’s P.O.V

The knock came just as dawn stretched across the sky, making me jump up from my sluggish state as I had just woken up.

It was firm, steady, the kind of sound that immediately set my heart racing because I knew it.

My body reacted before my mind caught up with my pulse spiking, my breath quickening, my feet frozen in place.

I could also smell him,

He was back.

For a week I had told myself I could endure his absence, that I could busy myself with work, with routines, with anything to quiet the strange hollowness he left behind, but I hadn’t. Each day without him had scraped me raw, exposing truths I had avoided for too long.

I missed him.

Not just his protection, not just his presence.

Him.

The way his eyes softened when they found me, the way his voice dipped lower when he tried to reassure me, the way his steadiness anchored me in ways I hadn’t thought possible.

And now, he was here.

I opened the door slowly, and there he was, broad-shouldered, imposing, yet with a wea

  • Twisted Fates In A Tiger's Eyes    Chapter 69

Yewa's P.O.V The dawn came heavy that morning, thick with fog and the promise of another battle, though this one wasn’t waged with swords. By the time the first light cracked across the mountains, I was already awake. Sleep hadn’t come easily after what I’d seen in Yewa’s eyes the night before that quiet flicker of worry she tried so hard to hide from me. Yes, I had assured her and it seemed like it calmed her down but I knew she was still scared. Not of me as she trusted me, at least enough to stand beside me. But of them. My people. My mother. The council. The same ones who had once nearly torn her apart for being a werewolf commander. I had spent months trying to convince her that those days were over. That my tribe, proud and stubborn as they were, had learned to live with her presence. That the hatred had faded, but when I saw her eyes cloud again, I knew I had lied to both of us. The war might have ended on the battlefield, but inside these walls, it still burned.

Eric's P.O.VThe first day of the rites began with the low hum of drums echoing across the mountains, their deep tones rolling through the Tiger’s Den like a heartbeat. It was tradition that every marriage rite began this way, with sound vibrating through the land to signal the union of two souls, but for me, this wasn’t just another union. It was my salvation. When I stepped out of the courtyard and saw her standing by the balcony, the early sun washing her skin in gold, I had to take a breath. Yewa, the werewolf commander I once fought on the battlefield, the one I once chained, guarded, protected, and nearly lost, was now to become my mate.If the gods had hands, they were cruelly generous.I carried the ceremonial box toward her, the one holding the dress I had chosen myself, white and gold silk woven with thin threads of amber, patterned after the stripes of a tiger which she may not have noticed at first glance. It symbolized acceptance into the tribe while also taking her sty

Yewa's P.O.V Today was the big day and as soon as I woke up, my whole body trimmed with the thought that I was finally getting together with himIt was the day of the final rites. After today, I was his and he was mine. The same me that swore to never engage in matters of the heart after mine was shattered to the fire. From the second I woke up, my whole body hummed with happiness and power. It was like my mind, my wolf, my body and my soul was awake for this.“Skylar!” I warned out loud as her joy and pacing around was making me lose focus and memory of all the things I was told by Dahlia to prepare me for my big day but she wasn't listening. The wolf was totally gone in love, and honestly I couldn't blame her. Most wolves are with their partners from age eighteen. The day passed in a flash and before I knew it, it was almost time. The evening air was cool and fragrant, touched with the sweetness of pine and the faint scent of the ceremonial incense that floated through the Tiger tr

Yewa's P.O.V I immediately melted as he cupped my cheeks, his thumb brushing lightly across my lips, I could barely stand the storm he stirred inside me.'Caution yourself woman!' I yelled to myself as I steadied my breathing“I still don’t understand how you do this to me.” He murmured, voice low, eyes tracing my face as if he could memorize every line. “I’ve led warriors into battles that lasted for days. I’ve faced beasts that would crush men with a swipe. Yet, one look from you, and I’m undone.” He sais like he didn't just say similar words some minutes ago.I wasn't complaining though. Who doesn't want to hear the man they love tell them just how much he wants them every second.Love.I wanted to say that I was so sure that I was in love with him but I wasn't so sure yet.I liked him, he's.I was attracted to him, yes.He was perfect and I was willing to spend the rest of my life with him as I knew I could not get it any better than this. But could I say it out loud that I lov

Yewa's P.O.V Inside, my heartbeat was the loudest sound I could hear.Eric stood a few feet away with his back half-turned to me, the orange-and-gold reflection of the flames painting his tanned skin like the stripes of the beast that lived within him. His broad shoulders were tense, his breathing heavier than usual. Still steady, controlled, but tight. Too tight.Something about tonight felt different. The air was charged, thick with something unsaid, something primal. When he turned, his eyes were as golden and deep as molten amber, and immediately they found mine, I forgot to breathe. There was no mistaking the hunger there, no mistaking the way his pupils dilated as they locked onto me. He wasn’t even trying to hide it anymore. The air between us pulsed like invisible cords stretching and trembling, about to snap under the weight of the tension that had been building between us since I’d said yes.“You’ve been quiet all evening.” I swallowed hard and forced my voice out, ner

Yewa’s P.O.V“You think I traded something for you.” He said flatly. “How else do you explain it? They hated me, Eric. They wanted me gone. And now, overnight, they act like I’m theirs. What did you do?”I asked, folding my arms, my heart hammering. For a moment, he just stared at me which further added to my anxiety of how wondering how he felt about what I said. Then, to my shock, he laughed, a sharp, incredulous sound. “Spirits, Yewa, you think so little of me?” He asked, still smiling with adoration in his eyes.“I think enough of you to know you’d sacrifice for me without blinking.” I bristled. He stepped closer, his eyes burning now, not with anger but with something deeper. “I didn’t trade anything for them to accept you. I commanded it.”I blinked. “What?”“I am the Grand General.” He said quietly but firmly, as if reminding me that he was not just Eric.“They don’t give me terms. They don’t bargain with me. I told them who you are. I told them you were mine and made sure th
