NINA

As soon as we cleared the tree line and Jeremiah stepped on the cold asphalt, I saw cars lined up on the road.

I wanted to bury my face in his chest and hide, feeling ashamed for reasons that weren’t right as I saw the men standing in a line, making a passage for their king to walk.

It made me guilty that there was a teeny tiny part of me that was ashamed for running away. I understood my regret and guilt over being caught and for being responsible for everything that seemed to be unraveling now, but I didn’t understand why there was a spark of guilt inside me for making my escape in the first place. And why in the hell, did I wanted to hide myself in the man who was the reason I was this mess.

Jeremiah didn’t stop to put me down as he stalked toward the waiting car in which we’d gone to the party- the same party that felt like it was days or weeks ago instead of just mere hours.

Before we reached it, Lachlan stepped out. His green eyes taking me in and then looked at Jeremiah

she didn't see a good day since the wedding.. if she used 2 walk with her shoulders slumped, Lachlan..look at her now, she is more hurt than anytime before..she was hunted by nightmares & debts, but right now, she is so confused, humiliated & blamed 4 something she didn't commit as I want 2 believe

JEREMIAH Her fingers trembled slightly as she touched the chess pieces. And against my wishes, my eyes locked on those small, dainty fingers. I remembered how she used to grip my jacket when we raced down the road on my bike. How those fingers shook when she touched me for the first time. How those fingers always mapped my face like she was storing every small nuisance of my features to her memory. But here she was. Not only she forgot our past but also what we had. And yes, I am slowly starting to accept that she doesn’t have any memories. And because I was so focused on her, when my gaze lifted from her hand it got stuck on her lips. The way she was biting down on her lower lip as she looked down at the chessboard and suddenly I was thrown back to a memory I’d buried. Her, curled up in her bed wearing nothing, just waiting for me because she thought that’s what I had wanted. She had been so innocent that using her never occurred to me after that first few times. More I got t

JEREMIAHI sat there in front of her as she stared at me. I didn't know what I was doing. I shouldn't fucking care. I should've left. But I didn't. Instead I was sitting here because the way her face had paled and her eyes, those furious defiant eyes, they had dulled, and made me pause. Her mouth was parted, gasping for breath as I had held her by the throat, that look reminded me of yesterday. Her episode from yesterday had caught me by surprise and I wasn’t ready to face that somehow it had made a forgotten part of me care- even for a second.I didn’t want to be worried for her.She was my enemy. The woman who left me to die, after promising me her heart and forever. She had stood in front of me on the other side of the bars and had promised to come for me so we could have our forever together. In my delirious mind, I had believed her and she was my only hope in there. But then she didn’t come. And I was left to torture each day with scarred body, mind and heart. Hopeless.Bu

NINA “Tell me, what happened?” His question caught me by surprise. But I wasn’t ready to answer him. I didn’t want to. Why should I share the nightmare I went through with this monster.I stood up, ready to leave. But he stepped in my way and said, “If you want me to believe that you don’t remember anything and that you are innocent, then I will need a proof.”I glared at him. “My words aren’t enough?”“No. Not when I lost twelve fucking years of my life, Innessa. So, no. They are not enough.” He gulped down his drink and sat the glass on the bar before facing me again. He said, “Sit down and talk.”“What if I don’t?” I snapped, my hands balled at my sides. “I’m tired of you pushing me around, forcing your will on me.”“Get used to it, because my will is the only thing you need to adhere to. And if you don’t, I will make you,” He said through clenched teeth. I could see his temper rising. “Don’t think that if I refused to fuck you, then I won’t hurt you either.”I scoffed. “I am not

NINA Olezka and I sat in comfortable silence, even my new furry friend was looking at us as we played. He was now in Olezka’s lap, who looked at ease even when I threatened his king. But even I knew I was going to lose. Unlike him, who had only lost a rook and two pawns, I was playing with only two bishops and one rook and a few pawns. He wasn’t exasperating when he’d said he was pretty good. He was actually downplaying it. But my pride kept pushing me for more rounds.“You two look comfortable.”I almost had a heart attack at the chilly voice that came from the doorway. I looked up to find Jeremiah standing there in a dark navy blue suit. He looked like he’d just gotten ready for the day and not the other way around. And on the other hand, I was sure I looked rumpled and in need of a hairbrush. After all I had been sitting on this chair since early afternoon. Olezka and I had been so engrossed in our game, that Garcia had brought our lunch here. She had even left us snacks in t

NINA When we stepped out of the double doors, the sprawling gardens were a sight to behold with colorful flowers and the sun dipping lower at the horizon, casting a golden glow over everything. It was beautiful. And it gave the estate more character than just the cold, imposing structure I had first seen. As if sensing my thoughts, Olezka said, “The woods surround the estate and Jeremiah loves it. But Lachlan likes the homey feeling of having a garden. I don’t mind it either. It’s peaceful here. But let me show you my favorite thing here.” I inhaled deeply as we passed few tall hedges and manicured flowerbeds, letting the crisp air fill my lungs with their scent. And felt myself relax. I remembered Lachlan telling me that the past-me had loved the trees and I often hid there. According to them that's where I had first met Jeremiah. I wondered if I spent my time in these trees, will they bring me back the memories

NINAI woke up with a purpose and instead of taking breakfast in my room, I decided to leave the safety of my room and take the breakfast downstairs even if it meant facing that witch of an aunt of my monster husband. I have only encountered her a few times and I knew already that I hate her and she had nothing good inside her.But to my surprise, or maybe by God’s grace, I didn’t find anyone when I came downstairs and not even in the dining hall where I went next- the same place where I’d had my first breakfast in this house. That had been another horrifying experience thanks to my husband. When I turned around to leave, I almost screamed as I startled to find Garcia standing there. She arched a brow as I breathed deeply, my hand on my chest. I said, “Make a sound, will you?”She ignored my comment and asked, “Are you looking for someone?” I took her in, she was old, but it wasn’t just her age that made h
