Look into the past

Her eyes fluttered open and that alone caused her to groan in pain. Her whole body was so sore that she was sure that standing up would kill her. However, she knew that if she didn’t stand up, Mrs Devane would increase the level of difficulty she was already facing.

She stood up from the ‘bed’. She snickered. Was this even a bed? It was a bed alright; a bed made of iron and a worn out, which she was certain was for a baby was placed on it. This was her life.

She stretched and bent her back backward and forward because of how stiff it was. She couldn’t help but scan the room. The room was very small and only had space for a bed. The door was close to the right-hand side of the bed so the only free space was on the other side of the bed. The walls weren’t painted and looked awful. Then the smell; the smell wasn’t any better. There was only one window, thankfully. The rain kept pouring with no intention to stop
