Getting to Know EJ

I kind of adored EJ’s simple Honda CRV.

It was dark green and had funny stickers on the back of it. It was a nice break from the Teslas and Benzs and BMWs I had been driving around in since I got caught up with two rich boys.

“So what were you doing there?” EJ asked. “It looked a little sketchy there.”

“I was with my Dad. He was attending an AA meeting.”

“Oh, sorry. Didn’t mean to sound so judgmental.”

“It’s fine. The building is a little sketchy, but it’s nice inside. Thanks for coming to get me.” I smiled. “I thought you would have something better to do on a Saturday evening.”

“Oh not me,” EJ chuckled. “I don’t have many friends. I didn’t realize people wouldn’t really like the scholarship kid.”

“Give it a few months, you’ll find some great people the way I did.” I assured him as I shifted uncomfortably.

“Is everything okay? I’m sorry my car kinda sucks. I’m sure it’s not as good as the fancy cars you’re used to.”

“It’s okay, I’m just cramping cuz of the babies. It’s not your car
