Alexander

“Lunch was intense.”

Evangeline stirs in my arms, tilting her head to the side to get a better look of my face.

We’re sitting at the balcony of her apartment, and watching the night sky, because I couldn’t bring myself to spend any time away from her.

“I’m sorry you had to sit though that, Xander,” her voice is sincere.

I drop my gaze to her face, giving her a slow smile. “It’s fine… I’m not upset.”

“But?” she quirks a brow.

I almost chuckle out of amusement. It seems this woman is starting to know me too well.

“I’d like to know why.” I confess.

With an exhale of a heavy breath, Evangeline looks away from me and back at the sky as she presses herself closer. “I wanted to see if you’d drop your head and cower… like you do when it’s your family scrutinizing you.”

My fingers tremble. “And?”

“You didn’t cower, Xander, which proves my point.” she responds, voice firm and sits up, fully turning to face me, tucking her feet between my thighs and wrapping her arms around her knees.

Evangeline“I want you inside me, Xander.” “Say that again, baby.”“I want you,” I say breathlessly, “inside me…” I rub the tip of my nose against his cheek. “I can’t hold it anymore. I need you…”His breath shudders against my mouth. For a second, he remains unmoving as though soaking in my words. Like he’s trying to remember this moment for the rest of his life.“Are you sure?” he asks.“Very… very sure,” I tell him. “Just don’t stop telling me I’m beautiful.”“Never,” he whispers, immediately fusing his lips with mine and kissing me. Deep. Slow. His tongue slides against mine, his teeth nibble my bottom lip. He sucks it into his mouth, pulls away and then releases with a pop.“Turn around,” he whispers, voice barely hanging onto control. My heart skips. My body obeys.I turn slowly, my pulse ticking at the base of my throat, every nerve beneath my skin wound tight with anticipation.Alexander’s body is warm and solid behind me as he presses his chest into my back and curls an arm

EvangelineHis skin is warm against mine. His fingers are trembling against my skin.Every inch of my skin now burns red from Alexander’s mouth-ly worship. A moan rumbles in my throat, my fingers tightening on the mass of dark hair sprawled over my abdomen as Xander’s kiss lingers on my pelvis.Storm-grey eyes catch on mine like magnets.I shudder. The last time Alexander had me in this position, I was just Evangeline, a girl he took back to his hotel from some club.Today, four months later, I’m his woman, the mother of his child, and his wife.So much can change in a short time.He trails his lips down my thigh while he kneads the other hand. Our gazes meet.He smiles. “Do you know what I want to do to you, Angel?” his hand dips between my thighs, grazing my pussy as he kisses his way to my feet.“Xander…”“I want you toes in my mouth, baby,” his voice is pleading. He starts to plant soft kisses on my toes, one after the other until all ten of them. I moan, physically trying not to

  • Two Days Before The Wedding   Chapter 32: Steamy Mornings

Alexander“Morning!”My steps fall short by the bathroom’s door. When I woke up to an empty bed, I’d imagined Evangeline decided, between my breakdown last night and this morning, that she no longer wanted to be with me and left. But seeing her now, bright and happy with a breakfast tray in hand and her bump visible in that see-through night-dress she’s wearing, I can’t explain the relief that zaps through my body. This is my woman. My family.“You’re staring, Alexander.” She says on a playful tone.I give a small smile as I close the distance with a measured stride and take the tray from her, setting it down on the center table. “I thought you left,” I say as I straighten. Her brows shoot up, lips puckering to the side. “And why would I do that?”“Because—”“You snore in your sleep and it’s annoying?”“I do not,” an embarrassed smile splits my lips.“Yes, you do.” She says.“I do not… I just cried a lot last night and my airway blocked.” It feels equal parts weird and exhilarating t

  • Two Days Before The Wedding   Chapter 30: Read To Filth

AlexanderLunch would’ve been great if I wasn’t under Evangeline’s friend’s scrutiny.Alessia Sanchez. The girl never shuts up. And she’s not kind with her words.Direct. Brutal. Uncaring.“Let me get your story straight,” she leans forward, teeth bared in that mocking smile. “You cheated on your fiance two days before your wedding, got my friend pregnant, and now you want to pursue a real relationship with her? Why? Because of the baby?”“No,” I respond, “because I love her.”Alessia snorts. “So the baby is not important?”I chuckle, incredulous. “Of course the baby is important.”“So it’s about the baby then.” Her eyes bounce from me to Evangeline and back.My fingers curl into my palms, balling into fists against my thighs. Evangeline slides her hand into mine and locks our fingers, stroking the back of my palm with her thumb.I tilt my head, bringing my eyes to hers. She shakes her head, mouthing, “she’s baiting you. Don’t let her.”I heave out a breath and lean back.Evangeline t

EvangelineAlexander’s hands are still, yet shaky. Quiet, yet loud. Soft, yet firm as they hold the sonogram picture. He hasn’t said a word since the doctor handed it to him. All he’s done is stare wide-eyed while stroking the edges with his thumbs. That tells me everything I need to know. And I cannot bring myself to stop staring at this man. His mouth parts like he’s about to speak. He tries. Nothing. They close back up and his jaw tenses. He lifts his gaze to mine, just a quick glance, but the softness in his eyes melts me completely. He heaves out a breath.I do same.Words pass between us in the silence—we affirm that we still hear the echo of our baby’s heartbeat in our minds. It is a beautiful moment, surreal, hearing my baby’s steady, ticking pulse for the first time. When I heard it, my insides split open with awe and overwhelming love; a love that overshadowed my fear for a moment. In that moment, I knew I would do this a million times over. With or without Xander, I will
