Mag-log inKiara
“Where am I supposed to go if you throw me out of the house?” I asked, my throat burning with rage.
Jake wasn’t satisfied with just divorcing me. He also wanted to kick me out of our home.
“This house is mine too.”
“I paid for it. You can go to the one we bought a few streets from here,” he said, sitting at his desk and sorting through papers.
He acted as if nothing bad had happened.
“I’d appreciate it if you hurried up and left. Someone will be here soon, and I don’t want them to see you.”
My mouth fell open in outrage.
“Someone? A woman?”
“That’s none of your business.”
My heart shattered. I instinctively placed a hand over my stomach, terrified and heartbroken over the family Jake had just destroyed.
“It’s true! You invited a woman to our house!”
“This isn’t your house. Not anymore. Since you signed the papers, this house is mine, and I can do whatever I want with it.”
I crossed my arms.
“And who is she? Did you invite Irina over?” I spat, dripping with irony.
But Jake’s silence confirmed my suspicion. A silence so cruel it tore me apart.
“Is it true? Is she coming here? You’re dating my sister!” I screamed.
Jake slammed his hands on the desk and stood abruptly. He glared at me, pointing a finger in my face.
“You cheated on me and slept with my brother while I was away. You’re no saint, Kiara. You’re a manipulative woman who’s done nothing but waste my time.”
My chin trembled. I bit my lower lip to stop it, but the tears in my eyes blurred my vision of him.
There was no point in arguing anymore. Jake wasn’t listening. His mind was poisoned by Irina. I gathered what little dignity I had left and walked out of the office, leaving him behind. Jake wouldn’t get another word from me.
Exhausted, I climbed the stairs and entered our bedroom. My former bedroom… The room no longer belonged to me.
There were so many memories there. So much love soaked into the photos on the walls and the sheets on our bed…
Everything had changed too fast.
I grabbed a suitcase and stuffed it with as many clothes as I could, then zipped it up. I took a bag and shoved my important documents inside before rushing out of the room. The walls were suffocating me, filled with memories I couldn’t bear. There were so many of us in that place, and he had thrown all we had built into the trash.
I went down the stairs.
Jake was still locked in his office. I walked out of the house, devastated.
My driver took me to my home. It was hard to even call it that… But halfway through the drive, I changed my mind. I needed to face someone: Irina.
I got out of the car, determined, and knocked on her door.
Irina opened almost immediately, smiling.
“Sister! I’m so glad to see you. What brings you here?” She asked, walking inside.
“Irina,” I said her name from behind.
She turned to look at me. I slapped her. My voice rose, trembling with fury.
“HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS!?”
She held her cheek.
“I always knew I couldn’t fully trust you, but I never thought you’d tell Jake something like that. You want to be Luna! You want to steal my place!”
Irina glanced behind me for a second, then looked back into my eyes.
“I’m sorry, Kiara, but I couldn’t let you keep lying to Jake. He doesn’t deserve a woman who’s unfaithful to Thomas. You hid that secret for too long, and he had a right to know.”
“Yes, I did have a right to know,” a familiar voice said behind me.
Jake.
He walked around me and stood beside Irina, taking her hand right in front of me. As if that humiliation wasn’t enough, he kissed her. Right there, without a hint of guilt.
I swallowed the pain, but it was like swallowing glass. It tore me apart inside.
“Don’t you see, Jake? Irina’s lying to you. She made up this whole story to have you.”
“Irina isn’t like you. She’s a good woman, and I’m going to marry her. Marrying you was marrying the wrong woman, Kiara.”
“One day, you’ll wake up next to her and realize what kind of woman you’re sleeping with. And I won’t be here for you to apologize to. Remember: our relationship was ruined because of you, Jake,” I pointed a finger at him.
I ran out of the house. My phone rang, an unknown number.
“Hello?”
“Kiara, it’s Thomas. Jake called me this morning, furious. He said he has pictures of us kissing.”
“My sister made all of this up to steal Jake from me, and she’s done it. She’s actually done it,” she’s separated us.
“I know where you’re staying. I’m waiting for you.”
When I stepped out of the car, Thomas was standing by the door. I dragged my suitcase and bags across the ground. He tried to help, but I told him not to. I tripped on a step, and my bag fell open. The paper with my test results slipped out.
Here, Thomas said, picking it up. But his eyes lingered on it for a moment before meeting mine. “Are you pregnant?”
I snatched the paper from his hand.
I didn’t want anyone to know. No one had the right to know. My babies were mine. Jake didn’t need to know, not ever. Not even Thomas. After Jake’s rejection of me as Luna, I’d take the divorce money and leave the city.
“No,” I denied quickly.
“You’re pregnant with my brother’s child,” he stated.
“Shhh,” I hushed him.
“He threw you out knowing you’re pregnant?”
“No, he doesn’t know. Jake’s with my sister now, and they mentioned something about a wedding. I don’t want Jake to find out.”
“Kiara, this is serious.”
“Promise me you won’t tell him. I’ll be leaving the city soon, and he’ll never know.”
“What you’re doing isn’t right, Kiara. My brother deserves to know.”
“Are you going to keep the secret or not?”
ThomasThe apartment was far too quiet when we arrived.I had imagined being here differently—imagined a small place filled with life, with Kiara moving around, with the babies crying, making noise, filling every corner with something real. I had pictured chaos, warmth, interruptions… a life. But there was nothing.Only silence. Not the kind of silence you look for when you need to rest or think. Not the kind that comforts you. This was a hollow silence—heavy, uncomfortable. It crept into every corner, echoing inside my head, pressing against my chest. Since the moment we walked in, I hadn’t been able to get used to it.The absence of everything was unbearable. The walls felt narrower somehow. The air was different. There was no constant movement, no voices in the background, no footsteps echoing down a hallway. ThomasI never thought loving someone could hurt this much until I met Kiara.I always knew she hadn’t fully forgotten Jake. That truth had always lingered somewhere in the back of my mind, like a shadow I chose to ignore. But I never believed it would come to this. I told myself that if it ever did—if one day she chose him over me—I would be mature enough to understand it. I convinced myself I was prepared. After everything I had been through—the gunshot, the hospital, the constant feeling of standing on the edge between life and death, fighting for just one more day—I thought nothing could hit me harder than that. I thought I had already endured the worst kind of pain a person could feel.I was wrong. This… this was worse. Far worse than the bullet that had torn through my body. That pain had been physical, sharp, immediate—but it had an end. It could be numbed, treated, healed. What I felt now was something entirely different. This pain didn’t have a clear source I could touch or r
KiaraI stayed a few more minutes in the room with the children, rocking the baby until her breathing became calm again. Ada loved her mom, and that made me happy. They were the only ones who could bring a smile to my face in that moment. Blake had calmed down, too, barely moving in his crib, unaware of everything happening in the living room. At least that was something. I preferred that they never felt a situation this tense again. When I was sure they wouldn’t wake up again, I carefully stood and left the room, closing the door softly so I wouldn’t make any noise.I didn’t really want to go out. I didn’t want to step back into the chaos, but I couldn’t use my children as a refuge either. I had to face what was happening. Jake was down there alone with his mother, dealing with a situation I was also largely responsible for.Jake stood in the middle of the room, looking toward the stairs, watching his mother come down.I followed his gaze.Juliette walked to the door, holding a suitc
KiaraThomas had finally left the house, no matter how hard I tried to stop him. I tried to convince him, but it was useless. He had already made his decision. I stood there staring at the door for a while, hoping he would change his mind, as if I expected it to open again, as if at any moment Thomas would come back and somehow everything could return to normal. It didn’t happen, of course. The silence left behind in the house was louder than the noise of the party and the shouting from earlier. It was incredible how everything suddenly felt so dead.I felt Juliette’s presence before she spoke. I didn’t have to turn around to know she was there, standing, staring at the door her son had just walked out of. She was crying, afraid that something might happen to Thomas.“Excellent. Are you happy now?” she asked. She didn’t shout. She didn’t raise her voice. But she looked at us with resentment.I slowly turned. Jake stood a few steps behind me, his body tense, as if he already expected h
KiaraI heard footsteps on the stairs before I saw him, and I knew it was Thomas coming down. There was no mistaking his steps. He looked completely determined to leave, and I knew I had to act fast if I wanted to convince him to stay at least one more night.Where was he going in the middle of the night? Where could he go on his own?I looked up.He was coming down with a backpack slung over his shoulder and two more in his hands. He wasn’t carrying much, but enough that he wouldn’t have to come back.“Thomas…” I said softly. He didn’t respond. He kept walking down, not looking at me, his gaze fixed on the last step.Jake stood beside me, still, his arms tense, watching everything without interfering, and I was grateful he didn’t step in.I took a step forward.“Thomas, wait.”He didn’t look at me.When he reached the last step, he finally lifted his gaze. His eyes passed over me for barely a second before shifting to the door. God… he was really going to leave. He wasn’t bluffing.T
JakeMom said the words, and for a second, everything inside me froze.A knot tightened in my chest, and Kiara’s pain flashed in my mind.Mom watched me, and I quickly replaced my expression of surprise with a calm one. I didn’t want her to think this affected me, because it didn’t. Whatever happen
Kiara“He knows I have cancer,” I told Thomas when he came to pick me up.He frowned and helped me stand from the cold steps where I had been sitting. When Jake walked into the house, I knew I couldn’t stay in the same place as him. I asked Thomas to hurry and come get me, and he arrived as soon as
Jake I walked past Kiara and Thomas, holding Irina’s hand. What nonsense. Kiara is trying to drag me into some confusing game of senseless accusations. I could be many terrible things, but I would never send a text message about a baby’s health issues. As we walked toward the house, leaving Ki
KiaraJake stopped the car and got out. His face showed confusion and annoyance.“What the hell are you doing? Move. I need to park the car,” he said in a harsh tone.Thomas came to my side.“Do you think what you’re doing is funny?” I accused.Irina also got out of the car. Her red heels clicked ag
