Sadie Simmons pov

After packing my small suitcase, taking only the best of my meager belongings, I lay down on my bed to try and get some sleep. Even though my thoughts were running a mile a minute I managed to get some rest.

Stormy woke me the following morning by yipping and howling in my head. Rubbing my eyes I yawned as I got out of my bed.

Tiptoeing, careful to get ready, I cringed at hearing my father complaining about wanting his breakfast.

“You overslept,” my wolf whined inside my brain while I glanced at the alarm clock.

9:35!

Quickly dressing, I ran my fingers through my white hair, then peered out my bedroom window to the street.

“You're going to have to face your father, dear. You might as well get it over with,” Stormy suggested. With a frown, I agreed with her.

Inhaling deeply, I grabbed my suitcase and purse. Puffing up my chest, and exiting my bedroom, I prepared to face my dad's wrath.

As I walked past the kitchen my father's eyes narrowed at me and my luggage.

“What is that for?” He questioned pointing at the suitcase I was rolling behind me.

“Answer me,” he demanded.

Swallowing uncomfortably I sputtered, “I'm going to the Academy.”

Chuckling condescendingly at me, he growled, “I can't afford that, nor will you get a penny from me. Michael is our future, not some lowly female.”

Gritting my molars I exhaled sharply and looked at him square in the eyes.

“I got a full-paid scholarship and have my own money saved up from working at the coffee shop. I don't need anything from you,” I said softly yet firmly.

Snorting rudely, he asked why the Academy would want me.

“I passed the entrance exam to the Wolfcrest Alpha Academy,” I answered quietly, causing his eyes to bulge as his lip curled exposing his fangs.

“Bullshit! Don't lie to me, why would a poor omega gain entrance to the most prestigious school for werewolves?!”

Furrowing my brow I eyed him with disdain.

“Because, believe it or not, I'm intelligent and passed the exam, getting a perfect score, Dad.”

My mom grinned at me, and thankfully, a car horn sounded from outside.

My father was about to raise his hand in his anger and would have slapped me but I'd been saved by the car horn.

“My ride is here, so goodbye,” I muttered sourly, then waved farewell to my mom as I ignored him, fuming.

“Good riddance you insolent brat,” he growled.

I closed the front door with tears in my eyes but was grateful that he no longer backhanded me like he had when I was younger. I couldn't understand why my own dad hated me so much.

Determined to prove to him that I was more than worthy by getting an outstanding degree, I composed myself as I headed down the sidewalk. I saw the individual heading toward my house. I stopped when they did.

The older gentleman asked if I was Sadie Simmons and I nodded.

Tipping his hat he said, “I'm Patrick McCarthy and will be driving you to the Wolfcrest Alpha Academy. Let me take your bag and put it in the trunk.”

Thanking him, I rolled my suitcase into his awaiting hand.

“Come along, we have a long drive ahead of us,” he said kindly.

“How far is it?” I asked curiously.

“It's a six-hour drive if traffic is good,” he replied as he opened the back door for me.

After getting situated in the driver's seat, Patrick turned to me and asserted, “I will be dropping you off at the admissions building, and they will direct you from there.”

“Thanks,” I responded as he started to drive. I watched the scenery of my neighborhood go past me as I thought about my parents.

“Your father is disappointed that he had a daughter first. I believe that he wanted you to be a son,” my wolf surmised, making me roll my eyes and murmuring, “Duh.”

Watching me through the rear-view mirror, the driver asked if I'd been to the Academy before.

“No, I haven't. I graduated from pack school last year and just recently got an opportunity to take the exam,” I explained and he nodded.

The rest of the drive was in silence, so I closed my eyes and napped, only to awaken when he stopped the vehicle and announced that we had arrived.

Opening my eyes, I saw a huge Iron gate and the driver speaking into an intercom. The gate slid open to a long vertical drive lined with trimmed floral bushes.

I could see the rooftop of an enormous building and was amazed when the entire Academy came into view.

“It's huge,” I muttered in surprise.

“Yes, it is, Miss. The students live on campus, and the dorms are in that building that looks similar to a motel. I will drop you off at the admissions building and they can direct you from there,” Mr. McCarthy stated firmly.

Standing on the sidewalk with my suitcase I marveled at the grand black and golden architecture that radiated luxury and mystery.

Grinning slightly I entered the admissions office and saw another girl standing there with a suitcase.

“Hi, I'm Nina and I'm new,” she chirped excitedly.

“I'm Sadie, and I'm new as well,” I replied.

“Can we be friends,” she asked softly, and I nodded as the office attendant told us to come to her desk.

After getting my paperwork finished, she told me to head to the girls' dorm and handed me a key.

“Since you're both on scholarship, you and Nina will be roommates.

She then handed us our class schedule along with an information packet and waved us off.

“Oh, this is so exciting,” Nina laughed, and her joy made me smile.

We talked about ourselves as we headed to the dorms, and found out that we were both Omegas with similar family situations. When we reached our hall, I was looking at her when someone bumped into me with their luggage.

“Sorry,” I started, then closed my mouth seeing that it was Vivian.

“No fucking way,” she growled as Nina asked me quietly who she was.

Sadie Simmons pov After we finished eating, I was still rattled by both of the Norris brothers, and Nina suggested that we take a gander around the campus before heading to our dorm room. Wiping my mouth off I shrugged with indifference and made her pout at me. “Don't let your past disrupt your future, Sadie. You are attending a prestigious Academy and this should be the most exciting time of your life,” she stated with a wink. “True, let's go walk under the starlight and check out this amazing place,” I responded. Putting the tray back next to the trash can Nina hooked her arm with mine as she began pulling me toward the exit. “Maybe we can check out the other hunks on campus,” she snickered as I eyed her warily. “I didn't come here for a fling, Nina. I'm here to earn an excellent degree that I can use to secure a great-paying job, preferably away from my marriage-minded dad in another part of the country. Hell, I would even join the human populace if needed,” I growled

Sadie Simmons pov As I stood there eyeing both of them, I noticed small similarities between them. “Hello, little brother,” Jaxon repeated again but in a more mocking tone. Forcing a grin, Justin said, “I didn't expect to see you here.” “Yeah, me either,” Jaxon replied then asked, "How is your father?” Hesitating, Justin answered, “He…he’s fine.” Narrowing his eyes at me Jaxon sneered. “I'm sure he’s doing well, otherwise how could he afford to fulfill your wishes to send your lowborn harlot into this prestigious academy?” Jaxon clearly mistook me for Jason’s sugar baby or some girl whom he bought her way in. Frowning I growled, “Hey, I’m not…” Lifting his splayed hand before my face I frowned over his rudeness. “I was talking to my brother,” Jaxon interrupted with a dangerous tone. I curled my lip angrily and eyed him with disdain. Justin stammered, “I’ve got things to do. I’ll be going now,” and hurried off, leaving me alone with the devil of a man. Jaxon

Sadie Simmons pov The entire hall grew quiet as the principal welcomed the newcomer. “The next Alpha of the most powerful North American pack - Jaxon of the Blackstorm Pack, will be joining us this year!” The crowd erupted in hushed murmurs as they shook hands on the stage. Leaning towards me Nina gasped, “Oh my Goddess, he's so HOT!” “He looks dangerous,” I muttered. Grinning mischievously she said, “Exactly. That’s what makes him so hot. I wonder who he’ll be matched with.” Eyeing her strangely I mumbled, “Matched?” “You don't know?” She snickered before she explained, “The Academy’s matching system is used to find an Alpha’s future Luna. Some get matched, others don't.” At a loss for words, I gaped at her while she was poking a page in the handout we received."I'm reading about it now." “But I am an omega and no Luna?!” Shushing me, she pointed at the principal, trying to regain the crowd's attention. “With the new scholarship program, I’ll explain our spec

Sadie Simmons pov “How did your family afford this place?” She sneered. Rolling my eyes at her I ignored her question and told Nina to continue to our assigned room. Vivian wouldn’t stop her interrogation “Hey, I'm talking to you, peasant! Even if you follow Justin here, he will never take you back!” Turning toward her I laughed coldly. “You can keep that worthless asshole for yourself.” Invested in the drama, Nina asked what was going on so I explained briefly. Laughing, Nina said in reassurance, “What a loser, you're better off without him.” Grinning at her, I nodded and ignoring Vivian completely, waved at Nina to head further down the hall toward our room. When we entered my eyes widened. Scanning the immaculate, fully furnished room, I was pleasantly surprised as we picked our room sides and got situated. My bed was covered in wonderful bedding, and I had a desk with a lamp and a laptop to use. There was a mini fridge that was also fully stocked with every

Sadie Simmons pov Turning to my dad, I growled, “He was cheating on me with another old classmate of ours!” Pffting at me, he said, “All the rich boys cheat, Sadie. You have to turn your cheek and let them if you want to live a life without worrying about money.” Disgusted I narrowed my eyes at him and growled, “No, I don't. I can make my own money and live for myself, successfully, I might add.” Getting irritated, he waved at my mom and snarled, “Talk to her, she doesn't understand how anything works for us. If she doesn't marry well, I'm disowning her,” before he stormed back into the living room, dismissing me completely. Looking at my mom's frown, her eyes following my father I exhaled softly, not wanting to start a fight between them. I knew that I was second to my brother Michael, who my father adored and, in his eyes, could do nothing wrong. “He doesn't mean that, Sadie. He's just pissed because the landlord raised our rent. Come help me finish the dinner setting,” she s
