You can't be merely be a human!

“No! It can’t be!” I said in utter shock, I hid my face in my palms as it was just too much for a single girl to handle at 5.30 in the morning!

Observing my building depression, Lily tried to change the topic to lighten the mood.

 “Well, I heard that your parents want to discuss certain matter with you. You should better get ready, my real-life panda, you take all the time in the world to get ready” Lily replied while bowing.

“Stop eavesdropping on people, for God’s sake” I said as I knew she must have heard my parent’s conversation on her way to my room.

“I will try” replied Lily with a wink and left the room like a happy puppy.

‘I can’t believe they are really merging! But why? Why my parents need to merge with those measly creatures who looked down on our family by saying my great great grandfather isn’t fit to be the Alpha of our clan’ I wondered.

I replayed the information in my mind as I got dressed in my grey colored sweat set.

‘It all started nearly 500 years ago. So basically, what happened was my great great great grandfather, Alpha Rutherford, passed away and by law, my great great father, Alpha Xavier, was supposed to be the Alpha of our clan, Dark Sapphire, but that Luke’s great great grandfather, Beta Chase, was against it. So much greatness!

Chase Smith challenged Alpha Xavier for a battle and whoever wins will become the next Alpha. As Alpha Xavier was an honest leader, he accepted the challenge and they fought for their people and pride. The fight lasts for days. Everyone was worried that they will ruin their health at this pace.

The fight resulted in something strange which never happened before, none of them was ready to give up or surrender. They were also unable to beat each other, that’s for sure. They were equally strong! Even if one could kill the other, it will be the loss of our clan for losing such a strong soldier.

When it was concluded that they were not able defeat each other, they stopped the fight.

As two swords can’t fit in to the same sheath, these two werewolves also couldn’t stay in the same pack, so they came to an agreement of separating the packs.

Alpha Chase left the pack with his family, and his supporter followed him, those darn betrayers!! They are now named as Moonshine pack and Alpha Xavier became the Alpha of Dark Sapphire as how it was supposed to be!’

That’s the reason why I am so mad at this merge! They looked down at us years ago! They can do it now too! Why are my parents letting them in again?’ At this point, I was beyond angry, my blood started to boil after thinking about the wrathful history again.

‘My parents have some serious explanation to do!’

I reached the dining room and saw my parents having breakfast comfortably with an uninvited curious cat, who is none other than, Lily nosy Williams.

“Good morning dear” said Lucy, my mother with a polite smile when her eyes fell on her only child who was busy glaring at her best friend.

“Good morning mum, good morning dad” I said as I elegantly sat on my respective seat before turning towards the spy in the room.

“Lilly Williams, care to explain what are you doing here? Weren’t you supposed to be practicing right now?” I asked in annoyance.

Being her prying self, she must be here to know more about this useless merge and being the-proud-betrayer she is, she will take my parent’s side during the argument, so the hottie future Alpha can join the pack.

“Our Alpha and Luna very kindly asked me to stay for breakfast. How can I ever deny their invitation? Their mercy is immense!” replied Lily politely but with a mischievous smile.

‘Why don’t she become the leader of Alpha Joseph’s fan club? Oh, I forget! She already is!’ I thought in frustration.

“What about getting lost from here so that I can discuss certain matters with my parents. As everyone here knows how big of a backstabber you are” I said with a sarcastic smile.

Being blissfully ignorant is her hobby. She didn’t divert an inch of her attention from her food.

On the other hand, a ticking bomb exploded on me after hearing my mean comment.

“How rude, Miss. Elena Swan! Apologize to your best friend. You should be polite towards the people of our pack. You are going to be the Luna soon” said My dragon Mother, Mrs. Lucy Swan, with a perfect mixture of anger and authority in her voice.

“We were just playing around, Mrs. Swan” said Lily with a small nervous smile.

‘Her another hobby is being fake innocent’ I thought throwing dagger at her with my amber colored eyes.

“It’s okay, Lucy dear. They are kids. They do these sorts of bickering all the time. Not like she is becoming Luna today. Let her live her life happily. We are still here to handle everything” said Joseph, my father while stroking my hair like a three-year old.

“Your unconditional love and spoiling have made her this way” said Mother while sitting on her chair like a queen in the upright position, next to my father.

“Dad is right. Not like I am becoming Luna today. I am 18 already and I still have not changed yet. I think you should look for another Luna, I might be just a normal human. You are betting on a lost cause” I said using the opportunity smoothly.

My cinnamon roll father changed into an angry dragon after hearing my unharmful casual comment.

“Enough! You can’t be merely a human! You are the daughter of an Alpha and your mother is also a werewolf. You can’t possibly be just a human!” my father shouted in a hard tone.

 ‘Uh-Oh! I think I hit the nerve!’ I thought changing the tactic once again.

 “Why are you scolding me? I was just suggesting. I am the most hurt one here” I said looking down with a sad face and my crocodile tears started falling on my cheeks.

Lily was impressed with my acting skills. This girl still has so much to learn from me!

 “Oh, I am so sorry my dear. I didn’t mean it! I was just angry by the fact that you doubted yourself and called yourself human. You will soon change, I promise and you will be the greatest Luna of all time” said father guiltily while patting my head with a proud smile on his handsome face.

“Your father is right, Elena. I know that you are tensed that you have turned 18 and still you have not changed. But that doesn’t mean you are not a werewolf. You are just a ‘Late Bloomer’. My grandmother was just like you. She also changed in her 18. So, don’t worry. You will soon change and start your training with us” said My mother while caressing my cheeks gently.

I hope not! Just looking at that training from afar gives me nightmares!

“Let’s not forget to add, ‘impress us with her fighting skills’” My father added proudly.

I smiled back and look down at my food. The smiley on my pancake looked like the pancake is also laughing at my failed attempt.

I actually don’t like the idea of playing with my parent’s feelings but I really don’t want to be a werewolf, let alone being a Luna.

In fact, I hate werewolves, I hate the fact that they look like dogs. I never wanted to be one. I want to be a normal human being and live a normal happy life by going to college, making friends, falling in love and stuff like this.

What is so great about being a werewolf anyways? Changing into a beast every full moon without any control over my emotion and ripping the first person coming in front of me and then living in guilt until the next full moon and the cycle continues for the bloody lifetime! Doesn’t sound really charming, does it?

Just in time, my cell phone vibrated and notification showed a message received, I checked the notification and it was none other than the bratty girl sitting right next to me, Miss. Lily Williams.

*Lily: Nice try but it didn’t work. Better luck next time babe * Lily wrote in the message with a laughing emoji to boil my blood even more.

I raised my head again and looked directly at my parent’s direction.

“Mom, dad! Why are we merging with Moonshine?” I asked in a demanding tone.
