Ryan’s POV:

I stormed out of the glass door, my frustration nearly causing me to shatter it. I couldn't care less about Raven's new mall; he was just another competitor in the crowded market, and I was prepared to crush him like the others.

My initial plan had been to intimidate him a bit, but everything fell apart the moment I laid eyes on her. I caught a whiff of her scent, a mix of summer and flowers, but I told myself it was a figment of my imagination. Then our eyes met, and I lost control.

I despised getting so emotionally entangled with my competition, but seeing Eve was the last thing I expected. It felt like a dagger through my heart. Her and my rival—could it get any worse?

I walked the streets aimlessly, my nerves on edge. The connection between us, the bond, had been awakened when I touched her, and the pain that radiated from it froze me in my tracks.
