No! I shook my head quickly, pushing those thoughts away.

It wasn’t fair to blame myself. Kaden had always been controlling and always cruel. He hurt me long before I even thought about running. Maybe the mate bond made things worse, but it wasn’t like I just left for no reason. I left because I had no choice because I had to protect myself and the baby growing inside me.

Still, the fear stayed and a small part of me wondered what if if? What if he really is going crazy? And what happens when he finally finds me?

Seraya,” Kellan muttered softly, his hand tightening around my waist as he pulled me closer. “I can tell you’re thinking. You’ve been quiet for too long.”

I let out a small sigh, realizing he was right. I had been so deep in my thoughts that I almost forgot he was lying right next to me. His body was warm, and his scent comforting, but even that wasn’t enough to calm the storm in my chest.
