Chapter 25

Alice glared back at him.

“Don’t give me that bullshit. I will ask you again what are you doing in my apartment.”

Khan leaned forward as his eyes were still focused on hers. His nose brushed against her. Alice stood her ground. She refused back down. A few seconds passed with the intensity rising between them. Khan pulled back and sneered.

“You never learn do you.”

‘Oh, I do, you just don’t know.’ Alice thought to herself.

Khan turned around and walked back to the couch. He took a seat and crossed his legs.

Alice leaned against the door frame while watching Khan.

“Where were you?” Khan asked.

“Why? Did anything happen at the company?”

“ANSWER ME, DAMIT!” Khan screamed.

It’s kind of intrigued Alice to see him get so wound up. She knew he felt like he was losing control over her and that pissed him off the most,

“Khan. I went to see a client.” Alice said calmly showing him that the threats in his voice did not bother her in the least. She folded her arms as she walked up to him. Alice stopped a few feet from him and tilted her head as she looked at him unfazed by the tantrum he was throwing.

“We are way past that point where I have to answer to you. If you have a problem with my whereabouts take it up with my father.”

“Oh - Oh, with your father, you say. The one who wants you dead. Ha - have you lost your mind, Alice?”

“Did I Khan?”

“Yes! It looks that way.”

“Then get out of my fucking house so I can get some rest and get my sanity back!”

Khan looked at her for a second contemplating. “Fine. Get your shit in order. We are transporting a big load out to LLC, next week.”

Alice closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. “You are in control of arranging the drop-off. I did my part Khan. Do you want me to do your job as well?”

“It seems you are in one of your moods again. I am leaving. Call me when you get your shit in order.”

Alice gritted her teeth as she watched him leave. The door slammed behind Khan as he walked out. Alice clenched her fist against her sides while staring at the closed door.

The next morning Alice went to see Khan. He wanted Alice to arrange for people to escort the trucks to the delivery site,

“Khan you are taking a big risk transporting such a big order at once,” Alice said as she looked at Khan while he was sitting in his office behind his desk. Alice was standing at the window looking over the city.

“I know what I am doing. Just do what I ask of you.”

Alice jerked her head to him. "Fine. I will arrange people.”

“Is there something else on your mind?” Khan asked.

“Why are you asking?”

“You are acting strange,” Khan had a glint of mistrust in his eyes and Alice knew she could not show him that she knew he was lying to her.

Alice turned to him and stared him straight in the eyes. “Don’t you dare look at me like that?”

“Like what?”

“Like you are not trusting me. Are you saying that I am acting strange? Different? Really? Well, you know what, do you blame me? You kept telling me over the year that I am not ready but when I almost got killed, you tell me my father is the one who wants to kill me and was also responsible for killing Kevin. You tell me how the fuck should I react? I am sorry for not being mis sunshine. Wait, no. You know what. If you have a fucking problem with my attitude, get someone else to do whatever you want to do because I can arrange to kill my father on my own. Fuck this. I have been showing you nothing but loyalty so if you still can't trust me after all this time you will never.” Alice turned around walking toward the door.

“Alice. Wait,” Khan yelled out.

An evil smile played out on her lips as she stopped. As she turned around the smile was gone, replaced by anger that showed through her eyes.

“What?”

“Your right. I trust you. I am sorry.”

“Khan. If this ever happens again. You can find yourself a new partner. Even if you still have not told me why you are after Adriano. I think you have more to live for than me. I truly don’t care if I live or die, and you know that.”

“Your right okay. Let's drop it.”

Alice stared at him for a bit.

“When do you need the men?” Alice asked getting back to what they originally talked about.

“Next Friday.”

“Okay then. I will arrange everything. If there is nothing else, I will take my leave then.”

Khan nodded. Alice left his office as she walked toward her office, she texted Jackson.

A - ‘How are things moving along?’

To Alice's astonishment, she got a direct reply.

J - ‘As planned.”

A - ‘Great. Get the guys ready for a heist next Friday. I will meet you later to talk about it in more detail.’

J - ‘On it.’
