LIZ POV.

Then I saw him. He stood right in front of me, shirtless. The faint glow of light from the hallway caught on the water dripping from his skin.

A towel was wrapped loosely around his waist, making it obvious to me that he had just stepped out of the shower. I couldn’t stop my gaze.

I started from his feet, moving slowly up. Drops of water slid lazily down his chiseled abs, making the air around me feel heavier. His body looked like it was sculpted gently into perfection. I swallowed hard as my eyes went upward to his face, but his piercing eyes burned into mine with a force that made my heart skip.

He had a mask on, but those eyes were sharp. I wanted to look away, but it was hard. A force—an invisible pull—urged me forward. My hands trembled as they moved forward to feel if what I was seeing was real.

Before I could, he grabbed my wrist.

“Don’t,” he growled. His deep voice sent shivers down my spine.

His hands went to my face, his touch—tender. My breath hitched as his

MR. LANGSTON POV. I couldn’t face her. Cowards like me hide behind ink, so I wrote what my lips could never confess to her face—my confession, my goodbye.————-My dear child, Victoria.I was a foolish father—a coward. I should have done better. I should have protected you. I thought staying away from you was protecting you from a father like me, but I lied. All I did was open you up to more harm. Please, forgive me. I have wronged you deeply. I failed as both a husband and a father. I failed you, and I failed your mother.Your mother was a good woman. I’m so sorry you didn’t get to know her. Gabriella—she was as beautiful as you, soft, kind, precious. I met her in college, and we fell in love. She held me up when my parents died. She was the reason the Langston empire didn’t crumble when it nearly did. That’s why I married her. She deserved the world. But her best friend, Grace… God help me, I was weak. I thought I loved them both. Now I know it wasn’t love. It was lust. A forbidden

  • UGLY SCARS   MY CONFESSION—1996.

MRS. LANGSTON POV.I sat there, right across from my daughter on the hospital bed. The word daughter burned in my throat. Did I still deserve that title? I don’t think so. Not after everything. Her face was swollen, bruised, a shadow of her beauty—but thankfully, the doctor said no critical damage. She just needed time to rest. Time to heal.“Victoria…” I reached out, my hand trembling as I tried to touch hers. She pulled away. The rejection cut deeper than a knife.Of course. Of course she hated me.“I know you hate me now. I know you hate me for everything…” my voice cracked. “But please, Victoria. At least hear me out.”Nothing. She just turned her face away, toward the wall, toward anything but me.“Victoria, I loved you. Like my own daughter.” My tears fell hot and bitter. “Please, don’t hate me.”She finally spoke, her voice like shards of glass.“Why?”The way she said it pierced me.“Why did you do it? Of all men… you went for your best friend’s husband.”I swallowed hard, the

VIVIAN POV. It had been two whole weeks. Two weeks of waiting, hiding, sharpening the edges of my plan. Tonight was the night.I hadn’t stepped foot in my mansion since Victoria’s capture. Instead, I’d been holed up in some hotel suite with blackout curtains and room service that barely scratched my nerves. I turned off my phone days ago—my parents endless calls were nothing but noise. They’d understand soon enough. Once everything was finished, I’d go back home, spin a pretty little lie or two, and they’d forgive me.Jake claimed he’d deleted the video. Cute. I told him to bring his phone anyway. I wanted to see the share logs with my own eyes. The second I was sure there were no more copies, I’d put a bullet in him and finish Victoria. Clean. Final. Mike and his men were babysitting Victoria for me—keeping her breathing—for now. When I finally flicked my phone back on, it buzzed in my hand. For the first time all day, a smile tugged at my lips when I saw the name—Michael.Finally.

  • UGLY SCARS   LOVE FOUND IT’S WAY BACK.

MICHAEL POV. I sat out on the balcony, my favorite spot in the house. The sun wasn’t even fully up yet, and the breeze cut across my skin, cool, sharp, almost soothing. I leaned back in my chair, glass of whisky in hand, the burn warming my throat with every sip.The house was too damn quiet. Vivian hadn’t been home in days, and even though she still called me once in a while—just to keep up appearances—the silence was eating at me. Sometimes I convinced myself I liked it, that I needed the peace. Other times, it felt like the walls were closing in.I was on my second sip when my phone buzzed. Unknown number. I frowned, set my glass down, and picked it up.“Yeah?”“Michael.”The voice froze me. I sat up, grip tightening around the phone. “Jake.” My blood boiled instantly. “What the hell do you want?”“Hey, man—just… just hear me out, okay? Please. I need your help.” He sounded desperate, shaky.I laughed bitterly. “Why would I ever help you? You’re a Blackwell, Jake. My cousin, yeah,

  • UGLY SCARS   MY WICKED PLAN.

VIVIAN POV. I’m glad I got there on time. God, if I hadn’t, it would’ve been a disaster. A total mess.See, I’ve got my little toys—secret cameras hidden all over that mansion. And when I caught Victoria on one of them, sneaking around like a rat, digging through mother’s things, I knew immediately something was up. She wasn’t just snooping—she was hunting.I didn’t even think twice. I bolted from the hotel, heels clicking. I jumped in my car, and sped straight for the house. My chest was pounding, but not from fear—excitement. I knew I’d catch her. But when I got there, the bitch already had the video. I could tell by the way her hands trembled and her face cracked open with tears. She looked like her whole world had just collapsed.I shadowed her quietly, each of her sobs making me grin wider. She reached the front door, fumbling with the handle, desperate to run. That’s when I finally struck. One swift, hard swing—the wooden bat in my hand cracked against her skull. She dropped i

JAKE POV. It’s been two days since I last heard from Victoria. Two whole damn days. She made me promise not to interfere, but what am I supposed to do? Sit here and twiddle my thumbs while every nerve in my body screams that something’s wrong?I’ve been pacing my room like a caged animal, my fists aching from clenching them too long.“God, Victoria…” I muttered, dragging both hands through my hair. “I swear, if anything happens to you—”My phone buzzed. Finally. I snatched it off the desk before the screen even lit fully.“Nico,” I snapped, breath sharp. “You’ve taken too long! Where the hell is she? If something happens to her—”“Mr. Blackwell, I’m sorry,” Nico’s voice came through, strained, rushed. “It’s been hard tracking her. Her phone’s been dead—completely shut off. But… we managed to pick up something.”I froze, heart pounding. “Okay? And? Spit it out!”“It was traced back to the Langston’s mansion.”My chest caved like someone had driven a fist into it. The Langston. Of cour
