Grayson stormed into his room, slamming the door behind him in frustration.

“Women!” He muttered to himself as he clenched his fist.

He remembered how deeply his father had loved his mother, only for her to betray him by running away with her lover, leaving behind him and Diana.

His father whom he had always seen as a strong wolf was left shattered, unable to bear the scorn from the Pack after being abandoned by his mate as an Alpha, he tragically took his own life because the pain became too much for him.

These memories lingered vividly in Grayson's thoughts. Grayson had succeeded his father and had grown to become like him, fearless and powerful.

He had earned his Pack's respect by conquering all the rival packs who posed a threat to them, making his fame spread wide in the West region as the most revered and respectable Alpha.

Grayson was determined not to jeopardize everything he had achieved by falling in love with a woman. He had closed off his heart to them and viewed them simply as objects of pleasure. In his eyes, loving a woman was a sign of weakness, and as a strong Alpha, he refused to allow himself to become vulnerable in that way.

Grayson's thought was interrupted by a mind-link, his beta was the one reaching out to him.

“Beta Luke,” Grayson called out as he accepted the link's connection.

“Where are you, Alpha? There's something you need to see at the Southern border of the Pack.” Beta Luke informed him.

“I am in my house but I'll be on my way now,” Grayson replied.

Grayson wondered what could be happening at the Southern border of the Pack as he closed the link. He knew Luke would not have reached out to him if it wasn't urgent.

Did they catch a spy? Is a rival pack attempting to breach their defense? These thoughts raced through Grayson's mind as he hurriedly made his way to the Southern border.

Grayson had trained himself to be fearless, he could confront anything at any time and he could single-handedly defeat a Pack's army. He had his powerful wolf, Kyle, to thank for that.

As Grayson approached the border, he saw several members of the pack gathered there murmuring, what could have caught their attention he thought as he moved closer to them.

The members hurriedly made way for Grayson as they saw him approach, bowing their heads in reverence as he passed by.

Grayson got to the border and what he saw surprised him. He was expecting to see an intruder or a wild beast or an army but he saw a lifeless girl lying by the river at the Southern border.

“What is happening here?” He asked, facing his Beta, Luke.

“Some wolves who were coming to catch fish at the river saw her and drew my attention to her. I called you as soon as I got here to know what to do with her,” Luke informed.

Grayson moved closer to the girl, he felt her breath to check if she was alive. She was breathing slowly indicating that she was alive but she was unconscious and her body had a lot of wounds.

Grayson surveyed the environment and realized she must have been washed ashore from the river as that was the only way she could have ended up there.

Grayson applied pressure to her chest, causing water to be expelled from her mouth and nostrils. His suspicion was confirmed - she had indeed drowned and been washed ashore.

“She needs medical attention. Take her to the Pack's hospital,” Grayson said to Luke.

“But, we don't know who she is,” Luke protested.

“And we can only find out if she wakes up,” Grayson replied.

“What if it is a trap by our enemies?” Beta Luke asked.

“That's why you need to keep a watch on her while she is recovering at the hospital. Do I need to tell you that?” Grayson said in frustration.

He hates it when his subjects do not know what to do and ask stupid questions.

“We have to figure out who she is and what she is doing on our border before we can decide what to do with her,” Grayson clarified.

“Forgive me, Alpha. I will take her to the hospital now,” Luke apologized, bowing his head.

He signaled to some guards to carry the girl into the Pack and to the hospital, trailing behind them.

The hospital was hardly used as wolves had the ability to heal in a short period. However, Diana had built it for emergency purposes and had gone to the human world to study medicine so she could practice there as a healer.

Beta Luke mind linked her and informed her about the girl on their way to the hospital and upon their arrival at the hospital, Diana was already there waiting for them.

“You seem excited,” Luke teased as she saw Diana who was smiling. Diana was his wife, his fated mate.

“It's been a while since I practiced what I studied,” Diana replied as the guards placed the girl on a stroller and Diana rolled her in.

Beta Luke briefed her about what had happened and how the girl was found.

Diana sprang into action, quickly administering CPR and providing intermittent mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Thanks to her efforts, the girl eventually regained consciousness, although she remained fatigued and weakened, barely able to open her eyes.

Diana administered IV fluids to help stabilize her condition before giving her some space to rest, while Beta Luke stood guard by her side.

As Diana approached her office, she noticed her friend Lisa walking towards her with a sorrowful expression on her face.

“Lisa, are you okay?” Diana asked with concern, noticing the unusual sadness in Lisa's eyes. This was a side of her friend that she had never seen before. Diana had recently tried to set Lisa up with her brother, only for him to sleep with her and discard her, ending in heartbreak for Lisa.

Diana was still upset about what happened because she knew how much Lisa liked Grayson.

“I am not fine, Diana. There is a problem,” Lisa informed Diana in tears.

"What kind of problem, Lisa?" Diana inquired, her heart pounding with worry as she considered what might be troubling her friend.

“I don't even know how to say it, Diana. It could get me killed,” Lisa said.

Diana's concern deepened as she grasped Lisa's hand, “Please tell me what is wrong, I would not know how to help you if you don't.”

“I am Pregnant Diana. I am carrying Grayson's pup,” Lisa announced.

None of them spoke much, the weight of the night’s events keeping them silent. As the first rays of dawn broke through the trees, Grayson exhaled deeply, his sharp gaze still fixed on the wreckage. “It’s over,” he said quietly, his voice laced with finality. “Jerry’s gone.”Nix stretched his arms, yawning. “I’ll admit, I didn’t think the bastard would ever meet his end. But seeing this… yeah, he’s not crawling out of that one.”Luke grinned, patting Grayson on the back. “Well done, Alpha. That was one hell of a chase. I’ll never doubt your driving skills again.”Grayson smirked, finally stepping away from the ashes. “Let’s get back. We’ve been out here long enough.”They walked back to the car, the adrenaline of the night fading into exhaustion. Grayson slid into the driver’s seat, Nix and Luke ho

Keep looking. They can’t have gotten far.”Another guard called out from a few meters away. “Beta, over here! I think I’ve found something.”Luke and Nix moved quickly to the source of the voice. The guard was pointing to a faint trail of flattened grass leading deeper into the woods.“Looks like a footpath,” Luke muttered, crouching to get a closer look.
