"Oh, sh*t! Did you hear about the banquet?" As soon as he asked, he gripped the wheel tightly, not daring to glance at Alice.

"Da..vid Kim, what ban...quet?", Alice asked through gritted teeth, enunciating each syllable making David gulp.

"Hehe, the banquet between our pack and other packs. It's to celebrate the Luna's birthday and the Alpha also said it's to also find his daughter's mate", David sheepishly scratched his head.

"When did you hear about this banquet", Alice asked, still angry. 

Hearing her question, David swallowed his saliva with difficulty. Only if he could run out of the car right now.

"Hehe, it hasn't been long since I heard", he answered, trying to evade the topic but he could never outsmart Alice.

The next minute, a loud thump was heard and David screamed in pain.

"What did you do that for?", He asked as he stylishly glared at Alice.

"Oh, you dare ask me that!, If you really want to know, let us get to our destination first and then I'd tell you", Alice smiled while blinking her eyes like a doll. 

Meanwhile David was aware that the moment Alice does that, she was up to no good.

"Hehe, you can keep the reason to yourself. I'm no longer interested", David said in mock anger.

Alice chuckled while staring at him. She knew he was handsome but he gets more handsome with a pout on his face.

"Awww, aren't you just cute", Alice poked his cheek which made David secretly smile.

Few minutes later, they arrived at the most luxurious coffee shop. Before David could alight out of the car, Alice immediately stopped him.

"I am now employed!" She shrieked and David immediately turned towards her.

"Really?!" David shrieked and immediately turned to look at Alice. 

He could be seen bouncing in his seat. It was the seat belt that stopped him from pouncing on Alice.

"Yes! And guess what?" Alice chuckled while smiling brightly.

"What? Tell me, tell me", David urged.

"I have been employed to be a personal secretary of Sylvester Justin", Alice smiled despite the bitter taste she had when she voiced out her mate's name.

Meanwhile, like David had been struck by lightning, he stopped bouncing. Even the bright smile on his face was nowhere to be found and he stared at Alice unblinkingly. The next moment, he felt her temperature by placing his palm on her forehead. Unaware of what her best friend was thinking about, Alice kept smiling.

Unexpectedly, David began saying solemnly:

"Alice, I know you're devastated about being unemployed but there's great harm in you having such a fantasy".

Hearing this, Alice furrowed her brows looking confused.

"What fantasy?", Alice asked still unaware of the different scenarios playing in David's head.

David sighed and calmly touched Alice's shoulder and rubbed it soothingly.

"I understand", David shook his head in pity.

Alice knew her friend was quick in drifting away so she immediately opened her bag and brought out the contract she had signed in her mate's office.

"Take, read this! I don't know what you're ranting about", Alice spoke out as the passed the brown envelope to David.

Minutes later, a loud scream was heard. It was none other than David that screamed like he had seen a ghost. His fingers shook as he read through the contract papers/ details.
