UNTOLD TRUTH

    "I got in!!!"Emily said barge-in into our front door 

 "You got in where, did we ..."

"To WSU dummy, remember i told you i got wait listed the last time we spoke right, well i checked just a few minutes ago and found out i got accepted" Emily said with all excitement gushing through her veins 

"I'm so happy for you Mily" i congratulated her as well celebrated in our sitting room 

"What's all the excitement about?" Mum asked as she walked down the staircase 

"Ms Holland, i got accepted into WSU, I and Vanessa are going to WSU this fall" Emily replied excitedly to my mum 

"So Nessa's gonna have a friend there afterall, not just any friend, her best friend" mum said grinning

"Seriously Mum ..."  

"You know i and your Dad you're a bit worried cause you don't socialize a lot and maybe you'll be a loner in Washington state university"

"Mum, I'm not a loner, I'm not an introvert and lastly I'm not anti-social,I just love staying alone away from people and their heck of trouble "

"The last time i  checked,that's the meaning of a loner" Emily said 

"Seriously, Emily you're on a side now?"

"Whoa !!! Don't go out on me, I'm not on anyone's side, I'm only trying to state the clear fact but luckily for you you have me as a friend and there's no way I'm going to let you miss out on all the fun in College" Emily said but receive the glare from my mum

"No no I ain't talking about drinking, frat parties and sex... " I choked on my saliva once she said the last word

"I'm just saying we're gonna have fun, that's it" she finally concluded assuring my mum 

"Don't do any drastic things that will lead your girls into trouble" mum adviced 

"We won't" we said at the same time 

"Besides you know how my parents can be right?, i can't try any type of shit" Emily said again, which she was right about, her dad Mr Feran Lopez is a very strict man when it comes to his kids Emily and Pablo (Emily's little brother) but my dad on the other hand, takes things a little lightly with me, maybe cause I'm the only kid or something

"Well Mum, we aren't going off to college till this fall, so you can save the advice for then okay, right now we need to go shopping for new clothes we'll take with us, bye!!!"  I said and we left immediately, i didn't give her a chance to complain.

VANESSA'S POV 

 "Mum, I'm gonna be over at Emily's, I'll be back soon" i told her over the phone as well walked towards their front yard 

"Are you girls done shopping?" 

"Yeah, we just got back from the mall" i replied

"Be home in time for dinner, your dad's coming" Mum said again

"Have you guys finally made up? I wouldn't want any quarrels during dinner" i cautioned, which was a bit weird

"That's not what we talk on phone Nessa, be home on time" She replied and hung up which left me with a scoff, i know they'll be tryna act all good and happy whenever I'm around but deep down i know there's an issue, but don't know what exactly it is

"What did your Mum say?" Mily asked beside me, now we were already seated on the couch

"Nothing much, just that i should be back in time for dinner" I replied

"Ohhkay" she replied weirdly, not wanting to prey. My family's a bit messed up, not entirely though, but to a certain degree messed up, I'm the only child to my dad Mr Bryan Holland and my Mum, Mrs Candace Holland, there was a time when we were a really happy small family but not until some years ago, things went wild for no visible reason. I'm 18+, turning 19 this fall, speaking of fall, i have just two months to prepare for college and i intend studying English, I'll be an English major and Emily's gonna study media and international relation. 

"Hi dad" Emily voiced out which snapped me outta my thoughts

"Good day sir" I greeted politely

"Good day ladies, how've you been Vanessa?" he asked in his weird English tone, he speaks Spanish alot that's why his English isn't really clear

"I'm good sir" i replied again

"Dad we'll be upstairs if you need ..." Emily tried to give an excuse to get us out of there but he beat her to it

"No no no, i was just going out myself,so take care of yourselves" he said and left through the front door.

  I got home later that evening and saw Dad car parked in the driveway 

"Great! this's gonna be one heck of a dinner" I sarcastically said inwardly...

  Okay let's fast forward things a bit, cause obviously my life's too boring to go through two heck of a month, it's only a week now before we move down to WSU, i and Emily had already done the necessary preparations like, renting an apartment, we did that cause of sanitary issues that's always in hostels, we wouldn't be able to cope with everything there, and we agreed on getting a place off campus which we both would share, and  if you're wondering how we  would get to morning classes on time, Emily's dad got her a car recently to make things easier for her

    My parents wanted  following suite but i declined, i told them that i would get mine once I'm there, with the little earning I'll be getting from whatever side hustle I'll do there, they weren't really open on the idea but with time they gave in. 

 I actually brought the idea of getting an internship or a side hustle in college, which Emily immediately oblige to but obviously she's still on with her idea of is having fun over there and i know Emily's idea of fun, we've been friends since the beginning of highschool so I know Emily so well, she might have convinced my mum on the kind of fun we'll be having but I'm a thousand percent sure that parties would definitely be among, clubbing as well  but yea no sex, we agreed on that, "NO BOYS" she despise them, I think they're pricks, so technically we both hate them and think they're no good, so the best things we'll do for ourselves is no guys at all. 

   Not as if guys irritate us or anything, we just don't want to get into any relationship with any of them cause they have only one goal which is getting Into your pants and trashing you midway, but that won't be happening in our case cause we'll avoid them but it don't mean we can't have them as friends, we could be friendly but to a certain limit

"Nessa we're only just a week away, you're ready?" Emily voice sounded happily from the phone

"I was born ready" I boldly replied, mimicking a superhero's voice 

"So ... When are we storming WSU?"

"Saturday perhaps, so we could use Sunday in preparation for Monday, which is the main deal" I replied her 

"That's fine with me, just triple check to make sure you're with everything, bye see you then" She said and hung up.
