The morning sun barely touched the glass walls of Wolfe Industries when Adrian walked into his office. The air was sharp with the smell of fresh coffee and paper, the kind of morning that promised a long day.

He placed his phone on the desk and loosened his tie slightly. His office looked spotless, as always: dark wood panels, silver frames, and wide windows that stretched across the city. Calm. Controlled. Everything in its place. Except, maybe, his mood.

“Mr. Wolfe?”

His assistant, stood at the door holding a stack of folders. She was neat, precise, the only one who could keep up with him.

“Morning,” he said, rubbing his jaw. “You’re early.”

“You’re earlier,” she replied, setting the folders down. “The board meeting is at ten. Mr. Keaton has been calling since seven.”

Adrian’s brow lifted slightly. “Keaton can wait. He’s been nervous since the partnership talks failed.”

She gave a careful nod. “Still, he said it’s urgent. Something about new numbers from the finance department.”

  • Unbroken: His Ex Wife's Comeback    Little Justice

The soft ring of Leona’s alarm echoed through her room. She stirred slowly, blinking at the light that slipped through the curtains. For a moment, she stayed still, her mind blank, before the quiet ache in her chest reminded her what day tomorrow was.Twelve years. Twelve years since her mother passed.Leona sat up, rubbing her hands over her face. The morning light touched the photo on her bedside table, a faded picture of her and her mother standing in front of their old house, smiling like nothing could ever break them. She reached for it, her fingers tracing the edge of the frame. “It still feels like yesterday,” she whispered. Her voice came out small, almost swallowed by the silence. She placed the photo back and drew in a deep breath. Every year, she went back to that house. It was old now, quiet, but her mother’s grave was there. She never missed a visit. Tomorrow wouldn’t be different. After a long moment, she pushed the covers aside and stood up. The air was cool against her

Leona tilted her head slightly, meeting his eyes across the table. “What do you mean?”Adrian didn’t answer right away. His thumb brushed the edge of his glass as he looked down at the table for a second, then back up at her. “You said it’s just dinner,” he said quietly. “But I don’t think either of us really believes that.”Her breath hitched a little, but she masked it with a small laugh. “You’re reading too much into things.”He smiled faintly. “Maybe. Or maybe I just notice things.”Leona leaned back in her chair, her tone light but careful. “Like what?”He hesitated, his gaze steady on her face. “Like how you look at me sometimes,” he said softly. “Like you want to say something but don’t.”Her fingers froze mid-movement, resting on her wine glass. The air between them suddenly felt heavier.“That’s quite an observation,” she said after a beat.He gave a quiet chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m good at observing. Comes with the job.”Leona smiled, but there was something

Adrian leaned back in his chair, rubbing a hand over his face. The office was finally quiet. The city stretched outside the glass walls, a blur of fading sunlight and lights beginning to bloom one by one. The day had drained him. Meetings, reports, and the board’s endless complaints about the new project, Titan was starting to feel like a battlefield. He’d barely touched his coffee. It sat cold beside a pile of signed papers. His jaw tightened as he remembered how the board meeting went. Now, silence wrapped the room, and he could finally breathe. He turned his chair toward the window and stared at the skyline. His reflection looked tired, older somehow.Just then, his phone buzzed. He picked it up and felt his face soften a little when he saw her name.Leona.He hesitated for a moment before answering. “Hey.”Her voice came warm through the speaker. “Hi. You sound tired.”He gave a quiet laugh. “You could say that. It’s been one of those days.”“Rough meetings again?” she asked gentl

Leona walked into the house, her heels clicking softly on the marble floor. The familiar scent of lavender filled the air. Her father’s study door was half-open, a thin glow spilling into the hallway. She paused for a second, then smiled faintly and pushed it open.“Dad?” she called gently. Her father looked up from a book, glasses slipping slightly down his nose. “Leona,” he said, smiling tiredly. “You’re back.”She stepped inside and went straight to him. “You’re still working? It’s late.”He chuckled softly, closing the book. “I wasn’t working, just reading. Old habits.”Leona shook her head. “You should rest more often.”“I could say the same to you,” he said, his eyes kind. “You’ve been coming home late these days.”She laughed quietly and sat on the chair across from his desk. “You sound like you’ve been keeping track.”“I don’t need to,” he said. “I can tell by the way you walk in. You always look too serious when you’ve had a long day.”Leona smiled, resting her hands o

FEW MINUTES LATERThe office was quiet again, the sound of typing and faint chatter floating from the open floor. Leona sat behind her desk, the soft hum of her computer filling the silence. Her eyes were on the screen, but her mind was still replaying that ugly exchange with Selene. She leaned back in her chair, pressing a finger to her temple. “Why does she always come here?” she muttered under her breath. “Does she really think I’ll ever forget what she did?”A sigh escaped her lips, long and tired. Outside her office door, she could hear a few of her staff moving around, papers shuffling, phones ringing, but none of it really reached her. Her world had shrunk down to that one thought. Selene’s smirk. Dorian’s lies. Ten years of her life wasted on betrayal.Leona picked up her pen and began tapping it on her desk. “She’s just the same,” she whispered. “Loud, proud, and foolish. Still doesn’t know she’s living off scraps.”She stopped tapping and smiled faintly. The kind of smile th
