‘Where are you?’
The words rang in Lilly's mind as she stood staring at the man who had helped create her. Also remembered he was the one who had almost made her lose her life, more than once. The man laying on life support before her was no more than a sperm donor in her eyes. He was never there when she needed him and everytime she needed him the most, he tried to kill her and everyone close to her.
Nia... the pain-filled her from the core almost as if the incident had just happened. Why did that memory have to take this long to come back, when everything else came rushing back at the lake.
‘Lil... Lilly! Lilliana, I need you to tell me where you are. Now!’ Brayden was panicking which he had every right to. If he isn't close enough when things go wrong ev
"Shit!" Miriam fell to the ground in pain, before basically yelling. "You said a little pain. This is not a little pain!" "Well, would you have come if I said it would be bad?" Brayden watched as Miriam curled herself in a ball from the pain. His eyes drifted to Lilly standing by the window looking outside at the falling snow. He made his way over wrapping his hands around her waist and pulling her into his embrace before whispering. "I told you not to let go." "I know, but I had to see what day it is." Lilly gently replied continuing to watch the snow casually fall with no other care in the world. "Okay, where are we?" Miriam had gained her strength back and was walking toward the window. "When" Lilly and Brayden mumble
Everything started to blur and turn white before they were back in the dark fruit cellar. Miriam looked to the bed of her once cherished love. She used all the strength she had left to crawl to the monitor and unplug it. The beeping stilled and the room grew silent. "He said he was going to bring you home to make a new plan and was attacked. James wasn't even there was we arrived." Miriam cried until her eyes couldn't take it anymore. Brayden help Lilly to lean against the wall as he walked to his mother-in-law to finish their conversation. “Other than a slight pain in the chest do you have any other pain from the jumps?” “I hurt everywhere Brayden but I doubt it has to do with jumping.” Miriam said holding her head as she tried to hold in her vomit. “I loved a man that used me to create a child to also be used t
Rubbing her eyes Lilly forced her eyes to focus on the red ceiling of her room. Blinking away the fog she realized where she was and began to silently cry again. She rolled to her left side pulling her legs to her chest as she continued to cry. It had been 50 years. That's right basically 2 lifetimes since they lost the child. Not just any child their child, her child, little sweet perfect Niamh. They first went back trying to save her but found it actually caused a worse fate for mankind than was worth saving one child. Even if that one child was their own. The thought of all the lives they had lost made the pain inside too much to handle. Eventually, the tears stopped coming and her face was stuck to the tear-soaked pillow. How could the man who was supposed to protect her more than anything use her and her daughter to kill others? A man who had done nothing but protect her all her life. Were all the 'close calls' actually him trying to use her to e
Feathers fell to the ground as the injured crow made its way through the broken window. Bones snap and a sickening growl is heard as the crow lands shifting into the former corpse of a man. Limping to the pedestal the man finally falls to his knees coughing up blood. "50 long years it's been. 50 years! You come here after 50 years to cough blood at my feet?" The deep husky voice laced with malice throws at his obviously unworthy servant. "I.. *cough* am... *cough* truly sorry..." The bloodied man coughs until blood is all across the floor. "Veronica!" The deep-voiced man yells for his assistant. "Yes, my liege?" A frail woman steps out from the shadows. Attempting to hide her apparent fear of what is to come. "Take this
"So what you're saying is the bastard's hand twitched BEFORE you left the room but you still left him without telling me to come here?" Ivan was standing still staring at the empty blood-stained bed. Exhaling James paced by the door trying to piece everything together. "I said I wasn't sure if it was a twitch or if it was blood falling. But you know how Miriam is, she..." "I know she gets hysterical especially when she is in shock. Claire is with her now so she'll be fine. You would think the woman born from the worst belligerent man ever known would have some thicker skin." Ivan scoffed as he leaned in to take a closer look at the IV that was once attached to the supposed-to-be corpse. "Sadly I think watching her mother be killed by that man is what made her actually fear everything. It is a miracle she was able
Lilly let Brayden pull her to their room before watching him close the door. She noticed their hands still together as he pulled her into a tight embrace. They stood in the entrance to their room in silence before Brayden finally said, "You should get to bed." He went to let go when she tightened her hold on him and asked. "Just me?" Brayden placed his arms back around her tiny waist before picking her up. She instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist laying her head on his shoulder. Chuckling he said, "Careful sweetheart or I might not be able to remain a gentleman." Realizing what she had done Lilly tried to get down to no avail as Brayden only tightened his grip so she wouldn't fall. He made his way to the bathroom before placing her on the floor and walking to the tub. Brayden turned it on and started p
The tears again began to fall as she thought of the poor child she had raised in secret. This man had used her to get to her sister then claimed he was helping end the war by causing a bigger conflict. He played everyone even her sister who ended up killing herself over the betrayal. Veronica moved away from the bed wincing at the pain as she moved to grab the syringe. She had refused to do this but couldn't imagine letting this man live. Veronica's movements were slow but precise and she knew exactly what needed to be done. Knowing the pain she feels now is nothing compared to what she will feel later only makes her movements slow almost to a total stand still. "She loved you, ya know?” Veronica paused only moments to let the words sink in before she hastily added, “Actually, we both did. Pretty foolish. Even knowing the pain you would put us through, we both still chose to love you. We gave everything f
The light was beginning to peek into the darkened room. Making itself known to the sleeping world inside. Stirring to life and stretching on the smooth satin sheets Lilly opened her eyes to see bright blue eyes staring back at her. Jumping fully awake Lilly became aware of where she was and the lack of clothing she had fallen asleep in. Jerking on the blanket to cover herself she found she was currently wearing Brayden's oversized t-shirt. The one time she was thankful for his height. Looking behind her she found an empty, cool-to-the-touch, bed. Meaning Brayden had been gone for a while. "He's talking with the lady that came this morning." Hannah chimed in from behind Lilly. Turning to see Hannah was now sitting on the side of the bed kicking her feet she added. "Mommy said to wait here until you woke up and you would feed me."
