Wanting More

Watching Max eat, I stay silent. He has been so pissed off with me, but there honestly isn’t anything I can do about this. He will not fight me, and nor does he believe me that Hafgan possessed him. I’m not sure what else I can do.

“You’re hiding things,” Max mutters after finishing the last mouthful. “Just spit it out.”

I offer a wry smile. “Nothing so worrisome,” I tried to assure him. The look Max gives me does not tell me he believes me. “You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you,” I add, but that glare does not fade. I sigh and collect the dishes and mutter, “if you battled me, everything would fix itself… but you’re too stubborn, so can we drop it?”

“You’re the stubborn one!” Max raises his voice at me. “That’s all you want! Fighting and sex! Don’t you dragons ever think of anything else!?”
