PROLOGUE

Prologue

"Lexis stop whining about that damn toy!" Mom shouted but I remained crying and whining at the floor.

"I want that toy! I want that toy Mommy!" I cried loudly.

Mom sighed heavily like I am the biggest problem that she have. I lost my toy while I'm playing at my grandmother's flower farm. 

I got amazed to the flowers that my Grandma planted in her farm. My grandmother loves flower that leads her to make it a business. And now it blooming beautifully and the flower farm is becoming huge every year.

"I'm gonna just buy you that same toy-"

"No! I want that toy Mommy!" I shouted angrily. Mom squatted in front of me and held my cheeks.

"Lexis this is not the time to cry like this! I have work to do! Your dad is trying his best for his new business and you whining like this isn't helping anymore!"

I stopped at what she said. For a glimpse of a minute I felt guilty for being such a burden to my mother. But a 10 years old like me won't understand why they have to work like that when there's already a flower farm that provides our needs!

"Be good to your grandmother okay? I'm gonna leave now," she said and kissed my cheeks before leaving.

I wiped my tears while watching my Mom leave. This isn't new anymore. Dad and Mom wasn't always here in my side because of their new venture of business. They are busier and sometimes they forget about their duty being my parents. But it's okay. I have my grandmother to take care of me.

I stood up and search for grandmother that was having her coffee in the terrace of her ancestral house where we are staying right now. In front of us is the beautiful flower farm. It's a wonderful view to take. It can take your breath away.

"Grandma isn't it cold?" I asked and sat beside her. She sipped her coffee and stared what's in front of us.

"Did you find your toy?" She asked. I sighed.

"No," I answered.

"San Isidro have secret places that the people still didn't know until now," Grandma said after a long while. My brows furrowed.

"And you know it, Grandma?" I asked, confused. She chuckled and looked at me. She pat my head and looked at me with her gentle eyes.

"I'm just thinking that maybe your toy went to that secret place so you don't have to worry," she explained.

"Then I want to go to that secret place! Where is it Grandma?!" I excitedly asked. Her lips pursed and made a serious face. 

"It's a dangerous place Lexis. No one has the courage to enter that place because it will surely locked you forever," she said and stared at the sky. 

The sky is now pitch black. It's a sign that darkness would finally enveloped the whole sky and moon will appear in the night sky.

"But I want-"

"Lexis...remember this..." she stared at me and held my both shoulder to make me listen to her.

"San Isidro is a place where hidden creature are living. And when the moon turned to its full feature you have to hide no matter what. Promise?" 

I'm confused and I really don't understand the things she was saying so I had no choice but to nod even though I don't understand it. She smiled and pat my head again.

We both looked up in the night sky and my eyes widened when I saw how full the moon is! It's very beautiful! I was about to stood up to watch it clearly when Grandma suddenly grab my hands and pulled me inside the house and locked the door immediately.

"Is there something wrong Grandma?"

She looked at me with worriedness in her eyes. I don't understand since it's my first time looking at my grandmother like this. I don't know why but I can feel danger in her actions.

"Full moon is a monster's night, Lexis," she said and pulled me upstairs.

I slept peacefully that night although Grandma is panicky. But when morning came everything came back to normal. Mom and dad also came back from their work. They said that it's their free time so they have a lot of time to spend with me!

I was so excited that I really picked the most beautiful dress that my Mom bought for me. Mom and Dad are managing the business in the city. It's far from here in San Isidro. But because Grandma is the only one who can look for me while they are gone I have to stay here while they are busy with their business.

I also having my study here in the nearest school. But now that they have free time I am very excited!

I was smiling widely when I went downstairs but my smile faded when I saw how my dad and mom dressed up like they are going with another business again.

"Mom? Dad?" I asked, trying to caught their attention. But dad is busy with his phone and Mom is busy finding something in her bag while Grandma is just watching the three of us while sipping her coffee.

"I thought we are going out?" I can't hide the bitterness in my voice. Mom finally looked at me but with a hint of tiredness in her eyes.

If she's tired why won't they rest for a little while?

"I'm sorry Lexis. There is an emergency with your dad's business, maybe next time okay?" Mom said and continued what she's doing.

My chest felt heavy for unknown reason. For a little kid like me it's hard to understand why are they like this. I couldn't get why they have to work like this when we already have the flower farm. Grandma is contented with it, why won't they be contented with it also?

"Sunny, we have to go," Dad called my mom. Dad went to me and pat my head and kissed my cheeks.

"I'm sorry, Lexis. Just remember that we're doing this for you okay?" He said softly before he and mom went out.

As soon as they went out the emotion that I keep hiding suddenly burst out. My tears rolled down my eyes with the blank emotion on my face. My tears is just rolling down but my face remained the same. 

My parents stood me up again. It really hurts thinking that the business is more important than their daughter. 

"Lexis..." Grandma called me but I didn't listen to her. I ran outside the house with tears on my eyes. Before I went out Grandma kept on calling out for my name but I didn't stop and continuously ran.

I stopped running when I noticed that I am in the middle of the flower farm that my Grandma owned. I wiped my tears because for unknown reason flower made my heart at peace. It lifted up some of my heavy emotions. At least flower makes me calm. I sat in the bench that I saw. Maybe this is where Grandma always sit when she's tired planting all these flowers.

"Flowers are so lucky..." I whispered in myself. I smiled and picked a pink flower because among the colors it's my favorite.

"You grew up beautifully and together," I said while staring at the flower I picked. 

I put the flower on my ear. I saw a water pond so I went there and watch my reflection through the clear water. I smiled when I saw the fishes in the pond. I didn't know that Grandma also put fishes in the pond!

The heavy emotions I felt earlier suddenly went down on my system and replaced by the peacefulness because of the place. But while looking at my reflection I felt that something moves in the trees in front of me. I turned to that area but I see nothing. I just shook my head and continued playing the water in the pond but something moves again so I got distracted.

I stood up and slowly walks towards the place. While slowly walking I noticed that there's a secret passage through the grass. I never saw this before so I got curious. I continued walking while finding the thing that moves. When I got pass through the passage I finally saw the grass moving and when I opened it my eyes widened when I saw a rat playing with my doll!

It was the toy I lost yesterday!

"Oh my! Don't!" I shouted and immediately grabbed my doll away from the rat. 

"You look ugly now!" I said while pouting. I glared at the rat.

"Bad rat!" I accused and rolled my eyes.

"It's your fault. Not the rat," I almost jump on where I am standing when someone spoke behind me!

I immediately turned around and my jaw almost drop when I saw a gorgeous man standing in front of me. I blinked twice when I saw how intimidating his eyes and how tall he is to me. He sat under the tree and lean his head in that tree. My brows furrowed. Who is he?

"Who are you?" I asked, curious. He closed his eyes and I saw how his adams apple moves when he swallowed. Oh my god! He's so hot! 

"You really didn't have to know," he said, snobby. I slowly walk towards him while holding the doll in my hands.

"Is this your home?" I asked once again. He opened his eyes that made me taken aback. Now that we're a bit close I can see clearly his eyes. His eyes are magnificent. It's gray and dark. I didn't know that there's a man as handsome he is. Or maybe I am just too young and a bit unexperience the reason why I'm praising him too much?

"My home is far away from here," he said.

"Then why are you here?" I asked. He closed his eyes again.

"Because a crying child woke me up from my peaceful sleep," he said that made me stop.

He was sleeping here?!

"Don't you have room? Or maybe a bed? Why are you sleeping here?" I innocently asked. I didn't know why the side of his lips rose for a small smirk.

"It's more comfortable. But the thing I do not understand is why is a child like you roaming around this place?" He asked and raised her brows. I pouted and looked away because his eyes are intimidating. 

"I just want to stroll, duhh?" I said while rolling my eyes and turned around to look at the place and my jaw almost drop when I saw how beautiful the forest is!

I can see the tall trees around. The grass on the ground and the wild flowers bloomimg around the area! It's so beautiful! How come Grandma didn't know that there's a secret passage here?

"Go back to your home. The sun is almost setting up," he said and stood up. He is really tall. How old is he? 20? 22? I'm just 10. Am I too young for him?

I shook my head. No! I can't be! I'm too young for it!

"Okay..." I said softly and I was about to leave when he spoke again.

"Will you promise me that you won't mention this place to anyone?" He asked. My brows furrowed in confusion.

"Why?" I asked curiously. 

"Just promise me," he said. I nodded nonstop that made him chuckled. My cheeks heated up because he is really dangerously handsome!

"I promise!" I said and lifted my arms to make a promise. He stared at me for a while and for unknown reason I saw how his eyes turned gold but it suddenly vanished out. Am I just imagining?

"Damn it," I heard him whisper and I saw his fist turned into baled. I can also see how his veins portruded in his arms. 

What is happening to him?

"Is there something wrong?" I asked, worried.

But he just left me without even saying anything.
