Chapter 52: Picking Sides

Selena got on her feet and turned to look at him.

She saw herself facing the man she loved. But for the first time, she didn't like what she saw.

She had never seen him so angry. He never looked at her with that disappointed face.

And she felt like the worst woman in the world at that moment.

He was standing a few feet away from her, but was now looking at Demi.

"What the hell did you do to her?"

"I…" Selena tried to talk, but stopped as soon as he moved.

Lucas started to make his way to them, with firm steps. But instead of stopping next to Selena, he continued to walk until he reached Demi.

He squatted down by her side and took her head on his hand, sustaining her weight.

Demi had a few scratches on her face and body, and her lips were bleeding. She opened her eyes and saw Lucas holding her.

"Lucas…" she murmured with a low voice.

Selena saw that whole scene with a lump in the throat.
