Chapter IV: A Frank Person's Lies

At the parking lot behind the 1990s resto-bar, three tall, handsome, and masculine men got out of a black convertible Mazda MX-5 Miata RF car.

One of the three is Kevin, and he has a sharp jawline with defined cheekbones. His nose is pointy, and he has back-combed undercut hair. The man was wearing a simple black leather jacket paired with jeans. 

On the other hand, the man in the middle is Ethan, wearing a black wool blazer. His face corners are curved while his forehead is ample, for it is shaped oval. The color of his eyes was green, and his hairstyle was two-block.

Meanwhile, the man on the left is Troy, wearing a dark green trench coat. His face has curvy cheekbones and a small chin like a heart. His hairstyle is a wave-runs-through-it side part and was colored ash brown.

As they were heading to the front of the restaurant, they heard someone shouting Babe, and they paused and looked in its direction. Three parked cars away from their vehicle, a standing lady whose eyes are closed and having its fists clenched caught their attention. 

Kevin, who is known as a meddler, walked towards her. His two friends had no choice but to follow him as they emitted a long deep breath.

"Is there something wrong?" Kevin asked as soon as he got near them.

Jon, Rick, and Lucas, who were still standing in front of the three, turned their head to look at Kevin. Meanwhile, Senna and Maye didn't notice Kevin's presence because they were still surprised by what Therese said that they just stared at her.

Upon hearing Kevin, Therese opened her eyes and lifted her head to see him. Afterward, she uttered again, "Babe," in a low tone of her voice as she went over Kevin.

Jon, Lucas, and Rick were also astounded that they moved to the side unconsciously to make way for Therese.

On the contrary, Kevin was shocked by Therese's remark that he ended up being stone cold. Therese even moves closer to Kevin, and then she slowly puts her head over Kevin's chest. Kevin became more astounded that he couldn't move, so he let Therese do her thing.

Meanwhile, Senna and Maye's eyes widened upon seeing them. And their past lovers chuckle while smiling in contempt.

As Therese's head was still over Kevin's chest, Senna felt embarrassed, so she butted in as she sheepishly smiled while grabbing Therese's shoulders to pull her away from Kevin. 

Senna already pulled Therese's head away from Kevin's but not a step away when Therese spoke irritably, "Let me go. You both should also go to your boyfriends!" 

After Therese loudly said it, the area became silent, and all their gazes were fixed at Therese only. 

But Senna and Maye were dumbfounded more with Therese's lie. They couldn't believe that Therese, whose always straightforward, could lie. 

While staring at Therese, Senna froze beside Therese while both of them were facing Kevin. 

Meanwhile, Maye walked to Therese and whispered at her from behind, "I didn't know that a frank person could lie," as she gritted her teeth.

But Therese just ignored Maye, and she set aside both of her friends as she gazed at Kevin again. 

She fixed her composure as she stood up firmly while saying to the three, "Maye was right, we don't like you anymore, and everything is in the past already." 

As they heard Therese's proclaims, Senna snapped back to reality, and she walked beside Maye. The two nodded as a sign of agreement as they both stood behind Therese three inches away, and they let her do the talking.

"And you! shouldn't get angry because Maye just told the truth about you being a mama's boy," Therese added as she turned her body to the right to face Jon and the rest while she pointed her fingers to Jon.

Jon sighed heavily upon hearing Therese, and in rage, he said, "It was not a big deal if you don't! Why would Rick even stay in love with someone who always acts cute in front of everyone."

Kevin frowned about what he heard that he moved closer towards Therese. Therese thought that Kevin considered her low, so she lowered her head and looked at the ground. But surprisingly, Kevin voiced to Therese, "You are all silly. How could you date such dummy?"

Therese's eyes dilated when Kevin held her chin and lifted it. Their eyes met each other gazes, and Therese was surprised by Kevin's action that she felt a spark when Kevin showed his radiant smile. 

Afterward, Kevin turned around to face Jon, whose gaze was still in anger. Acting calmly to look cool, he stood up straight, but when Jon's fist was about to land on him, he spoke, " Wait, wait, wait. My face is the only asset I have!" while his right arm was on his face and the left on forward for shielding.

Upon seeing his action, Therese's shoulders fell, and the butterflies on her stomach went away. On the contrary, Senna and Maye's lips curled at once.

While seeing Kevin in that embarrassing state, Jon and his two friends laughed insultingly.

Meanwhile, a man standing confidently behind Senna and Maye emitted a long deep breath and spoke, "I think it'll be better to leave our ladies alone."

Senna and Maye were surprised by his presence that they slowly tilted their heads to face him. While Jon, Lucas, and Rick stopped laughing by hearing Troy. 

"And who are you to say such words?" Rick managed to ask.

"I am this woman's man, and my name is Troy." Troy introduced himself as he put his hand on Senna's shoulder.

"You were Senna's boyfriend? I don't see much," Rick teasingly stated, and he chuckled while scanning Troy from head to toe.

"At the very least, I've never insulted my past lover because that's what gentlemen do," Troy stated calmly.

Rick just chortled at Troy, then he voiced, "Hey, Senna! How could your standards stoop low?" And he cheekily grinned.

Senna felt agitated by what she heard that she sighed heavily in disappointment as she lowered her head. 

While Rick was still densely waiting for Senna's response, Troy moved from his position to face Senna. He looked at Senna though he breathed out first and conveyed, "Chin up, you'll lose if you let him take over your mind."

Senna looked up and subconsciously smiled, and as she stared at Troy, her smile couldn't get away.

On the other hand, Maye is still processing everything. She couldn't believe the sight of her two friends.

"Hey, hey! Drop this act, will you? It felt as if you were lying." Jon stated as he chortled at them.

"Think whatever you want. But if you won't leave us alone, we will call the cops." Troy politely said as he turned his back to Senna to face Jon and the rest.

Jon and the two's grinning faces turned into a serious one. 

They glared at Troy, and after, Jon loudly blurts in frustration, "HAH!"

Meanwhile, Rick and Lucas just stood up behind Jon and sighed deeply.

The two looked at them in spite, and Lucas said to Jon, "Let's go, Jon. There is no point arguing with them anymore. It's not as if we still like them too." 

Upon hearing Lucas, Jon stood up unsteadily while catching his breath. Then he nodded multiple times, and then he looked at Maye bitterly one more time. Afterward, they turned their back at them to walk away.

But a voice two inches away from behind Senna and Maye's again stopped the three from walking, as it called them, "Hey." The three automatically looked to the person whose calling them.

"Don't you think you were more childish and immature? You acted like a child when you were called a mama's boy. It's as if you prove it right to your ex." Ethan expressionless stated as he slowly walked towards the back of Maye.

"WHAT?!" Jon again blurted and was about to go over Ethan, but someone talked from the phone that Ethan lifted from his hand.

*Hello, this is 911. May I know your situation?"*

Upon hearing the officer, Jon stopped from walking and sighed in exasperation.

As Ethan felt that Jon would no longer get near him, he spoke, "Sorry, sir, my little sister must have typed the wrong number to order pizza." Ethan justified as he turned off the call.

Jon and Ethan looked at each other without breaking the stare, while Maye was between them. As Maye eagerly wanted Jon out of her sight, she interfered and said, "You should go now, Jon. Let's stop this crap and forget the past. No, we don't even have a past."

Afterward, she turned around to face Ethan. They looked at each other blankly, and Maye spoke in hollowed, "Thank you," then she walked past him to ride inside her car.

"You heard her. Leave before I call the cops again." Ethan threatened them, so Jon just heavily sighed as he walked away backward.

As Rick, Jon and Lucas rode their cars in front of Maye's cars and the rest, Senna and Therese sighed in relief.
