"There!” my mom exclaimed, standing behind me with an approving and proud smile on her face. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at me through the mirror. Her happiness was slightly rubbing off on me. I liked what I was seeing as well. Thanks to my mom's efforts, I looked different from how I normally looked. A princess was what looked and felt like. My heart was beating fast in my chest and all sorts of emotions were going through me. I was dressed and ready to leave.

This was supposed to be the best day of my life, but it's not. Neither am I marrying the man I love, so how was I supposed to truly feel? A little happy, sad, distraught, I couldn't settle on a feeling, so I decided to focus on how I looked instead. I felt good about how I looked. I was beautiful and I was happy about that.

" Oh, darling!" my mom said and sniffled, teary-eyed. She was barely holding those tears in.

" You look so beautiful, my child. I wish you could see yourself through my eyes. You look like a fairy.

  • Unforeseen Love   Chapter 16

Julian’s POV It was supposed to be just one drink, but as soon as I started I couldn't stop. I almost drank half of the bottle of whiskey, and it still couldn't do anything for my nerves. I didn't even know what time it was until I heard footsteps approaching me. I turned to see my eerily calm father walking towards me. “ Do you know what time it is, son?”“ What are you doing here? I said I'll come on my own,” I slurred, already drunk. “ I can see that you are ready to leave at any moment now,” he replied sarcastically. He walked over to me and snatched the glass from my hand and slammed it on the counter. Even though his face was cold, I could see the fire of anger blazing in his eyes. “ I had to come all the way here because I somehow had a hunch that you would pull something like this. By now, you should have been at the courthouse but here you are drinking,” he scolded in annoyance. I winced. Just hearing him speak made my head hurt. I was feeling light-headed as the alcohol

  • Unforeseen Love   Chapter 14

Iris's POVSo, in 3 days I will be Mrs Harrison. I have been having sleepless nights because of the thought of being someone's wife. The nerves were eating me up, and I couldn't eat or sleep properly. I was anxious, and I kept asking myself if this was a sacrifice that I was willing to make. My life was going to change, and I wasn't sure that I was prepared for that kind of change. It's an arranged marriage, and I am sure as hell that between us, there are no feelings. I mean, sure, I found Julian very attractive and my heart skipped a beat, but that's about it. I don't know much about marriage, but I know that a lot more than attraction goes into it. We only met once and that was not enough to suss out what kind of man he was. I know nothing beyond his name and family background. He has a spotless reputation and has never been embroiled in any kind of scandal. He has a spotless image, but that doesn't mean if there is nothing bad about him in the media, he is a good guy. Who knows wh

  • Unforeseen Love   Chapter 13

Meghan’s POV Since the day I pretended to be hurt when Julian told me he was getting married, and I asked him for a few days to myself, I've been spending time with Kaden. I must thank Julian because, thanks to him, I was able to be with the man I love, and it's been a whole week. I don't know what's going on with Kaden, but he was acting unusual, though I wasn't complaining because I had him all to myself. I thought that he would try to get me to go back to Julian, but he didn't say anything. Not until now. That was because of the texts and calls that I have been getting from Julian. I tried to keep my phone on silent but Kaden ended up seeing the messages he sent me. Now everything has changed once again. He turned cold and distant and I couldn't read what is going on in his mind. “ I think you should go back, Meghan. A week has been more than enough to keep him on his toes,” his voice was flat. “ No, Kaden. I don't want to go back now. You don't need to worry about it. I have g

  • Unforeseen Love   Chapter 12

Julian’s POV The day of my wedding was approaching. I was nervous. I never get nervous and it was bothering me. But what was bothering me even more than that was that the one I was going to marry was not the one I love. Thanks to my father for making things difficult for me, I'm now stuck with someone I don't love for God knows how long. The thought of it was torture. Despite our relationship being strictly business, I would not be able to act like a free man anymore. I will be a married man, so I won't get to see Meghan as much as I would like to. For both our reputations sake and the business, I can't cause any scandal, much less a cheating scandal. Meghan and I will have to lie low for a while before we can see each other. I know that my father will give the media the scoop, so my new wife and I will be all over the papers and TV for a few weeks. I would have preferred to have a secret wedding, no fuss, but none of it is in my control. I will just have to endure the torture for a

  • Unforeseen Love   Chapter 11

Iris POV I was lying on my bed staring at the ceiling with a stupid smile on my face that, for the love of me, I couldn't get rid of. I couldn't stop thinking about last night. It was amazing. More than I thought it would be. I was glad that I didn't get up and leave. Julian and I, we had a connection last night. At least, that is what I think it was. I was afraid that I might be getting ahead of myself. I had only known him for a few hours, but somehow it felt like I'd known him for a while. I can't explain it. We talked and got to know each other. I opened up to him and told him a bit about myself. I would like to think that he was honestly open to me himself. Anyway, we just had a great time talking and laughing over a bottle of wine, and it felt natural. Like we had done that a thousand times before. Unfortunately, we couldn't ignore the big elephant in the room. Having to rush over to the altar to tie the knot over a marriage of convenience. It would have been better if fate
