Mag-log in“Congratulations! You’re pregnant!”
Catherine, the gynaecologist and Clarissa’s best friend said excitedly after handing over the medical report to Clarissa. The latter who is having hard time to even stand is beyond shocked and held the report with her trembling hands. Pregnant?! How…how is it possible? Nicholas has always been careful when they were together so how….? No! There was one time he lost his control and she was too tired to even think about contraceptives the next day. Even so, she took the pills after recovering from her husband’s horny illicit act but it turns out the pills didn’t work because look at the report in her hands. It’s crystal clear that she’s having a baby. Not just anyone’s but Nicholas’s. The man of her dreams and the love of her life. Clarissa collapsed on the chair in Catherine’s office with tears streaming down her cheeks. She should be happy with the good news but her situation is not favourable. What should she do with the baby now? She caressed her abdomen smoothly, feeling lost. The baby came at the very wrong time because Nicholas wants to divorce her and….Natalie is back and…. “Clarissa, are you alright?” Catherine came to her side and squeezed her shoulder in concern. She never saw her friend in such bad state. She knew about her estrangement with Nicholas but she loves him dearly and if he hates her, he wouldn’t have made her pregnant. So, maybe her best friend still has chance with him. “No, I’m not alright Cathie. Nicholas wants to divorce me. He proposed it last week. I don’t know what to do now.” Clarissa burst into tears after saying those words and covered her face with the report, drenching it with her tears. Catherine is dumbstruck with the news because after all these years, she thought Nicholas would change but that bastard filed a divorce. How cruel of him? She came back to her senses when she heard Clarissa’s sobs and hugged her tight, unable to see her in grief. Poor girl endured all the humiliation from Nicholas and never stopped loving him but is this what she’s getting in return? A divorce? “What do I do now Cathie?” Catherine rubbed Clarissa’s back soothingly, trying to calm her down. It’s not healthy to be in a bad mood during pregnancy. Since Nicholas made her pregnant, he should take responsibility. It’s not like baby pops up on it’s own without his involvement. “Tell him. Tell your husband about your pregnancy. Maybe this is your chance to get him.” Clarissa raised her head from Catherine’s embrace and thought about her words. She is right. Nicholas vowed to never love her or touch her when they signed the marriage contract but later he loved her intensely on bed. With that little hope, she immediately took out her mobile before dialling Nicholas but he cut her call. She tried for another couple of times and it’s the same. Feeling dejected, she put her mobile back in her handbag. He never picked her calls and their only communication was through texts but this is not something they can share through texts. “I should go to his office Cathie. I shouldn’t drag this out.” ‘Maybe Nicholas would change his mind?’ She thought and put the folded report in her bag before hurrying out of Catherine’s office. She shouldn’t lose hope so early. Maybe Nicholas is not as cold as she thought. He wouldn’t be cruel to his own child. …………… An hour later, Clarissa stood outside her husband’s office, familiar with Romano group from past business dinners. Nicholas never picked her up though, she always waited in his office until he finished work. Despite the awkwardness, those dinners were better than waiting alone at home. Lost in her thoughts, Clarissa wondered why Nicholas always made her wait but that shouldn’t be her concern now. She has something important to tell him. She has a baby, his baby growing in her belly. She took a deep breath to control her nervousness and held the door handle. She can do it. She braced herself and pushed the door a little only to be stopped by her husband’s harsh words. “I should have never married Clarissa.” Nicholas said through his gritted teeth with his back to the door but Clarissa can clearly sense the frustration dripping from his tone. Beside him stood Natalie with her hands around Nicholas’s waist. Clarissa couldn’t see her face as she rested her head on her husband’s shoulder. An intimate yet familiar envious posture. Before their marriage, Natalie often hugged Nicholas like this. As his wife, Clarissa never had the privilege to touch him, except during their rare moments of togetherness, while her step sister does it so effortlessly. The office is soundproof which is why Clarissa didn’t hear the whole conversation between Natalie and Nicholas but it doesn’t matter to her anymore when her husband hates her with everything he has. Before she can digest his words, she hears him speak again, “And I certainly don’t want her child.” If divorce bruised Clarissa’s heart then his current words slashed it into pieces. All the courage she mustered throughout the ride from hospital to Romano group disappeared into thin air and she’s left with enormous pain and suffocation. She let go of the handle, bursting into tears and stepped back covering her mouth. She tried her best to keep her movements low and ran away as fast as she could so that she won’t make a fool of herself in front of her prideful step sister or the office staff. ‘I don’t want her child.’ Nicholas’s words rang in her ears continuously till she reached the lobby. How much hate did he hold for her to say those words with so much disgust? If he knows about her pregnancy, he wouldn’t even blink before summoning her for an abortion. There is no way she’ll let him take away her child. She better keep this a secret from him till she gets a closure of her situation. The banquet is dimly lit with golden lights, matching the venue décor. The flower decorated pillars, crystalline chandeliers and champagne glass tower added more elegance to the event. Matilda made sure of spraying her company’s new fragrance into the air, making the guests gasp in surprise as soon as they stepped into the banquet hall, urging their minds to possess the unique scent for themselves. The entrance of the venue is filled with paparazzi, renowned photographers from top notch magazines around the world, waiting for the host to make her appearance. Meanwhile, the tycoons took over the red carpet, posing to the cameras with their partners, making the event lively and pleasant. Outside the building, Nicholas sat in his white Rolls-Royce, watching the luxury cars drive into the venue in all grace but he knew Clarissa is not present in any of them, so he waited, patiently. His fingers tapped on the steering wheel, his eyes catching the glimpse of the time on his Rolex.
Natalie is like a siren, moulding her colours according to the situation, just like how she changed her personality from angry woman to a petty girlfriend in seconds. She knew arguing with Nicholas is not going to help her because he’s not a pushover like Clarissa. He is cold, decisive and arrogant, not an affectionate person, didn’t care about anything or anyone except his company but he obeys her because he owes her. He owes her his life. And that’s the only reason why he’s nodding his head to her every demand like a puppy. But she shouldn’t take him granted all the time. She has a hold on him and shouldn’t misuse her leverage whilst she loses the only chance to own him. Marrying Nicholas is her goal and if he’s the love of her step sister’s life, then there is no way she’ll let him go.Everything Clarissa loves, wants should be hers. She snatched away her dad, her family, her place and finally her man. Soon she’ll steal her title Mrs. Romano as well. And to make that
Nicholas scribbled his signature on the documents gracefully, his aura cold and distant like always but Victor got used to it because he’s been working as his assistant for six years. “Tell Ben to go home. I’ll drive to the banquet myself.”He said closing the file and opened the emails tab to check new mails. “Yes boss. Your suit was delivered this afternoon. I put it in the lounge.”Victor was surprised when he received the package and checked the name of the customer multiple times. Nicholas Romano. And there was a note attached to it that said ‘Excellent choice – regards Yvonne Turner.’ which means his boss personally chose his suit for the banquet. Unbelievable.Because he never paid attention to the wardrobe stuff as it’s always been handled by his personal designer, Yvonne. Before attending any business events or family ceremonies, he would straight go to the store and puts on whatever's waiting for him but this is new. “Good.”Nicholas answered scrolling the ma
The sunlight shone from the ceiling to floor glass windows into the vast office which is located on the top floor of the Cooper Corporation. A man in his mid fifties sat behind the desk, holding a photo frame, his eyes staring at the picture without blinking. His fingers caressed the faces in the photograph with a gentle touch and a heavy sigh left his lips, hiding the emotions behind his gold rimmed glasses. The time ticked slowly but he showed no intention of putting down the frame until he heard the clicking sound of the door handle being unlocked. He pressed the button beneath the frame and placed it on the desk before pretending to be working on the system. The door was pushed open from the outside, disturbing the serenity of the man and revealed a gorgeous woman in her late forties. She ran her fingers through her blonde hair and let out a satisfied smile, seeing her husband work sincerely.“You look handsome.”She said, clicking her five inch heels on the floor and sl
Clarissa is clear about what she wants but it looks like her thoughts didn’t align with her mother's as she’s adamant about introducing her to the elite society. In a fit of her anger she said something she didn’t mean to and hurt her mother. Matilda's eyes dimmed, as she thought about what Clarissa said. It’s true that she always maintained a low profile after her separation and focused on developing her company. She secured a remarkable position in the business world and it’s all thanks to her daughter who created unique fragrances for her production. As much as her company protected her from the heartbreak, she became the victim of public humiliation.People called her a weakling, a woman unfit to be a wife but she endured, survived and made her stand strong. She didn’t want her daughter to face the same fate as her.Clarissa looked at her mother who lowered her head with hurt filled eyes and blamed herself for spouting nonsense. She held her mother’s hands and opened
“Mama, I don’t think I can wear this.”Clarissa pleaded her mother who is busy selecting customized party outfits for her. After divorcing Nicholas, Matilda didn’t waste a second to assign her precious daughter as the acting CEO of RISSA essence and also the head of the perfume making unit.Since Clarissa is pregnant, she didn’t want to pressure her with work responsibilities. But at the same time, she wants everyone in the world recognize Clarissa’s talent, especially the bastard who hurt her should know what he missed which is why she gave it a thought and came up with this resolve.Making Clarissa a share holder is just the beginning, a calculative move. Nicholas will definitely regret divorcing her baby. She’ll make sure of it.Clarissa who is clueless about her mother’s plans didn’t understand why she’s in a boutique, trying a bunch of fancy dresses as if she’s attending a business party. She may have less knowledge in extravagant life as she always opted for a simpler on
