Elizabeth's Pov

This is so warm and cozy.

I thought as a strange, comforting warmth wrapped around me, making it difficult for me to move.

I shifted closer, trying to seek more warmth. It was solid just like a brick and a particular spot was giving off faint warm air.

I pressed myself more to the brick and noticed it was moving in and out, following the same rhythm with the faint warm air.

Breathing?

I waited for two seconds to be sure and my eyes snapped open.

I froze as I realized what w

Elizabeth's Pov I stood at the top of the stairs, looking around the massive living room. The living room was bigger than that of any penthouse I had visited. Everything looked expensive; even the decorations looked like they cost more than the penthouse itself. I guess Lucas did have good taste after all.I walked towards the huge floor-to-ceiling window and pulled the curtain aside. My mouth fell open at the breathtaking view. The city stretched endlessly beneath me and tiny cars moved along the road and disappeared into the distance. I pressed my palm against the glass. “Wow.”I could get used to this. I shook my head quickly. No. I couldn't get used to anything here. In two years, I would walk out of this place and out of Lucas Hayes’s life, so there was no point getting attached. I let the curtain fall and continued my tour. The kitchen was the next thing that caught my attention. It was enormous. Cabinets lined the walls and a marble island sat in the middle. I op

I froze as I realized what was happening. I was snuggled against Lucas. Almost on top of him, with one of his arms wrapped firmly around my waist, holding me against him. I tried to move but I couldn't. His arm was firm, refusing to let go. Ahh, shit! What the hell? How did I get here? I slowly lifted my head not to wake him up and found his eyes closed and his face relaxed in sleep. He looked different like this. He looked less arrogant. Less irritating. He looked almost…I observed his face again before stopping

Lucas's PovI stared at the red piece of lingerie in my hand before looking at Elizabeth. Her face had turned the exact shade of red as the piece of clothing she was desperately trying to take from me. Interesting.“Is this yours?” I asked, even though the answer was obvious. “N-no,” “But it is in our closet.”“Give it back.” She jumped to take it from me, but I lifted it higher. I raised an eyebrow at her. “You just said it isn't yours, or are you lying to me? Do you have more in your bags?” She ran to her box and sat on it. An amused smile appeared on my lips. “Just drop it and leave the closet,” she said. I shook my head. “Why? Are you afraid I will think you bought it for me?” “What?” Her mouth fell open. I smirked, and she stood up, snatching it from my hand and shoving it into her suitcase.“I wouldn't waste it on you.” “Then why did you get it?” I asked. “I didn't get them. They are not mine. There must have been a mix-up.” “Mistake? Really?” I muttered, nodding my

Elizabeth's PovI didn't make it three steps into the master bedroom before the door slammed open behind me.“Elizabeth.” His voice was calm. Too calm, but I could hear the anger in it.I slowly turned around, facing him with my arms over my chest and my eyebrows raised at him.Lucas stood in the doorway with his hands tucked into his pockets, his grey eyes fixed on me like he wanted to murder me.“You've got five seconds.” He said, and a smirk began to form on my lips. “For what?” I asked, faking ignorance. I knew what he was talking about, and it was the room. “To walk out of my bedroom.”“What is my name?” I asked, and his brows furrowed. When he didn't reply, I continued. “Elizabeth Lancaster Hayes.” “What does that have to do with anything I just said?” I smiled sweetly.“It is our bedroom,” I said, and his jaw ticked.“The contract doesn't give you ownership of it.”“No,” I agreed. “But being married to you gave me equal rights to it as you.”For a few seconds there was si

Lucas’s Pov The last guest finally left.Thank God. I sighed in relief and loosened my tie as the ballroom doors closed behind the final waves of the guests. Eight hours. Eight hours of smiling, pretending and being surrounded by people. If anyone ever suggests marriage to me again, I would book them an appointment for a therapist instead. “Mr. Hayes?” I heard and turned towards one of the wedding coordinators. “Mrs. Hayes' things have already been taken to the penthouse this morning.” I nodded.“Is that all?” I asked. “Mrs. Morgan followed the movers to the penthouse too.” Morgan? The name rang a bell and I was about to ask the coordinator who that was but it dropped in my head. Jason Morgan. The CEO of the Morgan group. He is married to Edward's first daughter, Eleanor.“Thank you,” I said, and the coordinator walked away. For the first time since the day started, there was quiet. There were no cameras, no reporters, no fake smiles, no Elizabeth. Just me. I walked to

Elizabeth's Pov The photographer blinked.“...I mean the pictures.” A ripple of laughter spread through everyone around us. The photographer clapped his hands. “One more with both families.”I almost groaned.Another round of photographs followed. One with my parents One with his parents One with both parents One with Eleanor and Jason, my sister and her husband. One with Lucas's cousins, uncles and aunties .One with very close friends too.By the time we finished, my cheeks ached too much from smiling “I am beginning to think this marriage is just solely for photographs,” I muttered. “This is just the start,” he said and I shook my head quietly, knowing it was the truth.****“Lizzy,” I raised my head just as Eleanor entered the limousine with me and it started moving.“Are you okay?” She asked and I laughed softly. “Do I look okay?” “No.” She reached for the loose strand of hair that had fallen on my face and tucked it behind my ear. “I could see the way you are forcing
