Elizabeth's Pov

The sound of someone whispering was the first thing I heard as I opened my eyes.

I blinked my eyes and focused on the person pacing. It was Jason. He was pacing with his phone against his ear, while talking.

“Lizzy.” I heard Ella's voice and turned towards where her voice came from.

“You are awake,” she said. “How are you feeling? Should I call the doctor?” she asked, the look of worry on her face.

“I am fine,” I said slowly.

“Let me call the doctor,” Jason said, already b

Elizabeth's PovThe sound of someone whispering was the first thing I heard as I opened my eyes. “Let me call the doctor,” Jason said, already beside Ella. I wanted to tell him not to call the doctor but I knew he wasn't going to listen. I tried sitting up but Ella pushed me back to the bed. “Don't move until the doctor comes,”I groaned but stayed back on the bed. This is why I don't like it when I am sick. They do this anytime, even when I catch the flu.Thank God Dad and Mum aren't here. It would have been worse by now. They would have turned the penthouse into a hospital by bringing the entire hospital to the house. Why are they

  • Unholy Matrimony    Chapter 14

Elizabeth's Pov The penthouse was empty when I got home. Where did he go? Is he not coming tonight to sleep? It was midnight already. I laid down on the bed to sleep and events of earlier in the day played in my head. “Arrgh,” I groaned and sat up on the bed. “I went too far,” It was obvious Justin loved Pearl for him to be that worked up. Did I ruin their relationship or by chance create a crack? I pray I didn't. Seeing two lovers fight because of me is so terrifying because I was once so much in love. And I can't imagine someone doing that to me and Adrian. What if what I did would break their relationship? I hope not. I took my phone which was on the nightstand and looked for Pearl’s contact. She gave me right before inviting me to her home. ‘Which you went to sabotage,’ my conscience screamed at me. I know what I did was wrong. You don't have to make me feel worse than I already am.My hand hovered over her number. Should I call her and apologize? Or should I just w

  • Unholy Matrimony    Chapter 13

Elizabeth's Pov The moment I stepped inside the house, I regretted agreeing to Pearl's invitation. Not because of her, but because of him. I didn't want to be rude or unfriendly when I met her at the mall. She was nice to me and even asked how I was. She seemed cool, so I went with her flow. She asked us to chat over a cup of coffee at her house, and I accepted. Maybe I shouldn't have. But he wasn't supposed to be here, he was still supposed to be at the penthouse. Why was he here?He was standing by the window with a glass of wine in his hand, his eyes locked on mine. “Please have a seat. You are welcome to my home,” Pearl said, breaking the awkward silence.“Thank you,” I said to her before taking my seat. “I will get you something to drink,” Pearl smiled before walking toward the kitchen.“Water is fine,”“Are you sure?” She stopped and asked me. “For now,” I said and she nodded before disappearing into the kitchen. “Hi, I am Justin, Lucas's best friend. I don't know if he

Lucas's Pov I got caught up with work as David filled me in on the important tasks I needed to handle and my schedule before leaving. It was when my stomach rumbled that I remembered I hadn't eaten since I woke up.I saved my work and closed my laptop before standing up.I walked out of my study and headed to the kitchen.Elizabeth was not in the kitchen like I expected. She must be in the room then. I opened the refrigerator and there was nothing inside to make a meal.Of course, I needed to restock. I would text Rose to handle it. I shut it and took my phone from my pocket. There were several emails from my PA. Emails I had told him to work on. I sent a quick text message to Rose telling her to restock the house the next day before heading to my bedroom. Elizabeth wasn't in the bedroom when I got there. Where is she? I thought as I checked the closet. I went back to the room and stood in front of my bed when I saw a note on the bed. I picked it up and read it.“This house

  • Unholy Matrimony    Chapter 11

Elizabeth's Pov I stood at the top of the stairs, looking around the massive living room. The living room was bigger than that of any penthouse I had visited. Everything looked expensive; even the decorations looked like they cost more than the penthouse itself. I guess Lucas did have good taste after all.I walked towards the huge floor-to-ceiling window and pulled the curtain aside. My mouth fell open at the breathtaking view. The city stretched endlessly beneath me and tiny cars moved along the road and disappeared into the distance. I pressed my palm against the glass. “Wow.”I could get used to this. I shook my head quickly. No. I couldn't get used to anything here. In two years, I would walk out of this place and out of Lucas Hayes’s life, so there was no point getting attached. I let the curtain fall and continued my tour. The kitchen was the next thing that caught my attention. It was enormous. Cabinets lined the walls and a marble island sat in the middle. I op
