FAZER LOGINWhat about this coffee? "Coy inquired. Thorne cast a scornful glare at the coffee cup resting on his desk. "Take it away and get me a glass of tap water, will you?" Coy said. "Sure thing." Charlene was left to eat by herself in the workplace cafeteria at midday when Stewart left for a business lunch. Her coworkers were courteous but avoided her. Charlene seemed unconcerned by it. She got right back to work after lunch. She went to Patton, her project manager, just after five o'clock. "I believe I've essentially nailed it. Would you want to have a look?" What?
Patton was initially perplexed, but as he read the materials Charlene gave him, his perplexity gave way to complete disbelief. "You... you've finished everything?" The previous team leader, Raleigh, had set aside more than two weeks to complete this task. And in less than a day, Charlene had figured it all out and completed it? "Yep," Charlene said. The realization that Charlene had done a superb job and that her effort had given him new insights he hadn't thought of for his assignments left Patton stunned.
The word got out. Other coworkers soon gathered around, likewise amazed by Charlene's accomplishment. Patton, still reeling from his disbelief, gave Charlene a disbelieving look. "Are you for real, just an undergrad?" After a pause, Charlene said, "I didn't go after a master's." No way! How might an undergraduate perform better than a group of seasoned master's and Ph.D. holders? "Why didn't you pursue your master's degree?" Patton questioned. "Money problems at home?" But it didn't seem to be the case when you looked at Charlene. She shouldn't have to worry about tuition because of her abilities. Charlene looked down.
"No, it's just some personal reasons." "Maybe I'll consider further studies later," she said with a smile. Around seven, Charlene departed the workplace after having a quick conversation and helping her coworkers with a few more work-related questions. Stewart was waiting for her at the entrance as she stepped out. "Making an impression and gaining everyone's admiration on your first day. That's the real you. Charlene smiled. "Will you buy me dinner? Stewart's eyebrow went up. "What else do you suppose I was here to wait for?
They laughed and walked out of the office together. When a child scampered by twenty minutes later as they were ready to enter a restaurant, Charlene staggered back and nearly fell, but Stewart's quick reflexes caught her by the waist. Charlene was ready to thank them and let out a sigh of relief when she noticed Thorne and Moran in the distance. They also noticed her. Thorne stopped completely. Moran's eyebrows went up.
Charlene pursed her lips, looked aside, and pushed Stewart away. "Did you hurt your ankle?" Stewart worriedly inquired, unaware of Thorne and Moran. Charlene gave a headshake. "No, I'm fine." "That's excellent. Then let's leave." Charlene followed Stewart inside without another look at Thorne. Moran watched incredulously as Charlene reacted. "That was your wife, right?" Thorne said nothing. She completely ignored us and was all chummy with Stewart," sneered Moran. Is this a novel tactic to regain your favor? Are you trying to incite jealousy? Moran started laughing before Thorne could reply. "She's overthinking this." Without responding, Thorne said, "Let's go."
Standing in her room, Charlene felt a little uneasy but not extremely so. After all, she and Thome were married, and although they had become less common over time, they were familiar with the intimacy of marriage. Charlene had hoped that Thorne would fall in love with her ever since they were married. She never used overt seduction, though. It wasn't that she hadn't considered it; she just didn't take action because she thought it wouldn't work on him. As a result, she continued to dress modestly at night, usually in loose, button-down pajamas. She was currently wearing a loose-fitting shirt that was long enough that, even without pants, it didn't reveal too much. Charlene thought her top was appropriately modest and not intended to be seductive, so she quickly clarified, "I just forgot to grab my pants..."to avoid giving Thorne the wrong impression. But she didn't realize how well-proportioned she was, how the high-low hem of the shirt perfectly accentuated her long, fair legs, and
As she did so, Irma gave her grandson a quick gaze that spoke more than words could. Her grandson seemed unfazed and began serving Charlene food without Irma's further prodding. In a whisper, Charlene said, "Thanks." Irma continued talking about the assortment of vitamins she had brought over, saying she would choose some for Charlene and Thorne to "recharge" after supper. * Charlene simply nodded away, unable to truly say no. Irma truly mastered the art of making the ideal soup when she was younger. She insisted on personally overseeing the making of a special, healthy broth for Charlene and Thorne after supper. Irma politely but firmly pushed Charlene out of the kitchen when she volunteered to assist. Charlene ended up taking a seat on the couch.Thorne and Jasmine were both present, each engrossed in their own worlds—one fumbling with a Rubik's cube, the other looking on her phone. There was silence in the room and a lot of unsaid words in the air. Stewart sent Charlene a message a
Tears filled her eyes, and she briefly lost consciousness. But before she could finish inquiring about his health, Thorne unexpectedly took his cigarette away, gently wiped a tear from her cheek, and said, "Get some rest early." She quickly snapped back to reality, blurting out, "Thank you, so you—" Watching his leaving form, Charlene was shocked and temporarily at a loss for words.* She wasn't sure what to do next by the time she collected her thoughts. When Thorne advised her to go to bed early, did he intend for her to stay the night? They weren't legally divorced, so staying the night wasn't out of the question even if she had moved out. However, remaining in the master bedroom... Perhaps not. She collected her possessions, including a change of clothes and some everyday needs, and went to Jasmine Henderson's room after calming herself with that thinking. She stayed in Jasmine's room that evening. She awoke shortly before seven the following day. Jasmine joined Charlene after she
Fantastic! Jasmine's mood clearly improved as she skipped upstairs. When Charlene emerged from the master bedroom after shutting down her laptop and organizing her belongings, Jasmine threw herself into her arms and exclaimed, "Mommy!" "Uh-huh," Charlene said, caressing her daughter's hair but without giving her a hug in return. Jasmine joyfully chattered away, unaware of her mother's lack of affection. Thorne went upstairs at that moment. His eyes briefly met Charlene's as she drew his attention. Charlene's look was just as controlled as Thorne's. "How about Mrs. Thompson giving you a bath tonight?" she said, turning to face Jasmine. Mommy needs to talk to Daddy about something. "When Thorne heard this, he stopped in his tracks. Jasmine was in a good mood after having a great time the previous two days. She went off to have Mrs.Thompson assists her with her bath, despite her minor reluctance. "Shall we talk in the room?" Charlene suggested as she saw Thorne playing with his phone wh
Charlene was not at all shocked to see that Vesta had picked up the phone. She and Thorne were almost inseparable, after all. What if she picked up Thorne's phone? Charlene said calmly, "I'm looking for Thorne." "He's taking a shower," Vesta said icily, identifying Charlene's voice on the other end. You can let me know if you need anything. "Tell her?" Yes, she was concerned about the issue. Henley may have bought the mansion, but Vesta's uncle saw her aunt in the area today. He probably bought the mansion as a favor to Vesta's grandmother, who is now his mother-in-law. Would Charlene prevent her grandma and uncle from moving into that house if she actually told Vesta? She wouldn't, of course. Furthermore, Charlene was shocked that Vesta was ignorant about her uncle's family's intention to relocate across from their estate.Telling Vesta would therefore be useless and might even backfire. Charlene hung up the phone without saying anything. Over an hour went by, and Thorne still hadn't
Granger remained silent, giving Moran the impression that he thought it was premature to talk. Knowing that it would be pointless to press Granger, Moran turned to grin at Daisy and knelt at her level. How many times have you seen Daisy, the woman you had lunch with? Can you recall her name? Granger's hold on his cup tightened abruptly. "Moran!" "Three times!" was Daisy's direct response when questioned about Charlene, unaware of the adults' nuanced ideas and unfamiliar with Moran. "The lady's name..." Daisy couldn't exactly remember Charlene's name, and Granger hadn't even called her "Ms. Ross" when they first met earlier that day. She turned to Granger for assistance. Granger looked down and said, "Uncle, what's the lady's name?" "Next time you see her, you can ask her yourself." Daisy gave a joyful nod. "All right. Moran said to himself, "Stingy." Granger disregarded him.Daisy hesitantly gave Jasmine a crystal keychain after noticing how content she was with it. Jasmine was happy.
