Chapter 16

I was jolted awake by a loud persistent banging noise. Disoriented and groggy, I tried to make sense of what was going on. The noise continued, growing louder and more persistent with each passing moment.

Panic rising in my chest, my first thought was looking for a safe place to hide, and any object to defend myself with. The banging continues and I get more scared. I stumble out of bed and make my way to my shoe stand, picking up a high-heeled shoe, ready to use the heel on whoever it was.

“Ash,” I heard someone shout from outside. The fact that whoever it was knew my name made me even more scared.

“Ash common,” the voice said again, and I realized who it was. “Dam?” I said to myself. Why was he knocking on my door at that time of the night? I checked my phone to be sure of the time, and it was two o’clock in the morning.

I rushed and opened my door, but there was no one there. Then I heard the knocking again, and then I realized it came from the main entrance. I opened the door, and
