EIGHTY FIVE

Diane sat in her office, her eyes focused on the papers in front of her as she tried to shuffle them together and arrange them. She had no idea what she was doing though. All she knew was that she needed to pack up before Nicholas came to pick her up for their date. But she couldn't concentrate. Her mind kept wandering and the only thought it kept wandering to was that of Malvika. She kept thinking of Malvika.

It had been two weeks since she saw Malvika last, since Malvika basically told her without mincing words that she didn't want to have any thing to do with Diane or her family for now. Why? She wondered but she couldn't come up with an answer. Why will Malvika pick now, of all times, to cut off ties with her family? What happened? What went wrong?
