Jessica’s POV
I was the first to enter the hotel room and went straight to my room. I didn’t know why my face felt so hot. Was it because I was embarrassed earlier since we were with company? Or was it because of what Sir Nick said. That I was more beautiful than my sister? Wait, wait… Why am I affected by what he said? Why does my heart feel happy because of it? "Erase, erase, Jessica. You shouldn’t feel this way. He is the man your sister loves. What you need to do is avoid him," I scolded myself. I saw how my sister, Andrea, looked at Sir Nick. I never expected her to love someone like this. Even though he’s a womanizer, she’s still willing to accept him. I knew she was hurt by what Sir Nick did earlier, but I couldn’t even comfort her because I was afraid we’d get caught. Ugh, I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m so confused. What if Sir Nick finds out that Sis Andrea is my sister? Ahh, I’m doomed! "Inhale, exhale! Two days to go, and you’re done. You won’t see Sir Nick anymore. All you have to do is do your job perfectly," I convinced myself. I decided to sleep to calm myself and forget everything. It took me a long time to fall asleep last night, so now my eye bags were visible under my eyes. I just covered them up with makeup. I was surprised when I opened the door, Sir Nick was already at the table, arranging the food. "Today is a busy day, and we have to hurry. The panel decided that the design should be shown together. It will no longer be presented one by one, as previously mentioned. I believe you also received their email." Sir Nick said. Feeling guilty, I quickly opened my email. He was right; it was scheduled to start at 9 AM. I quickly sat at the table and ate fast. I should have been the one to prepare this. I was expecting him to scold me for my mistake today, but he just ate in silence. He seemed deep in thought. I couldn’t read his emotions. I didn’t bother him anymore and just focused on finishing my food. At 8:30 AM, Sir Nick and I were already in the conference room. Four large LCD screens surrounded us. The seats were almost full. Four companies were competing for this project, the project is a mega city located in B city. Sir Nick had been quiet for a while. I didn’t know if he was nervous or something else. I then saw my sister enter the room. She smiled at Sir Nick. I had no idea our company was also part of the bidding. I thought they wouldn’t be able to handle a project like this anymore. I took a deep breath when the host announced that the mega city project designs should be prepared. Even before Sir Nick presented his design, I was already impressed. As an artist, I could see how detailed his work was. The host counted down before simultaneously displaying the designs on the screen. When all the designs appeared, I heard murmurs of admiration from the audience. And saw confusion in their eyes. I looked at Sir Nick and saw his forehead crease. I examined the designs one by one and was shocked to see that our company’s design was almost identical to Sir Nick’s. I glanced at him and saw the anger in his eyes. I didn’t know why, but I felt nervous. His anger was radiating intensely. Laviste Land Inc. was the first to present, followed by two other companies. And I noticed that almost all the designs looked similar to ours. My heart pounded even harder. "Please prepare the presentation," he instructed me. He stood up confidently and began explaining his design. Just when they thought his presentation was over, he surprised them. He opened a locked file on his laptop. "As you can see, the design I prepared resembles the head of an eagle. This is my 3D and animated presentation,.. the future of the city. I didn’t include this in my first presentation because I wanted you to look beyond what was initially shown," he began. I could see his confidence in himself. As he spoke and explained, it was as if he was glowing. I didn’t know why, but my heart pounded even harder while watching him. It felt like I was watching a concert of my favorite artist. I was completely mesmerized by his brilliance. It turned out that the blank areas in his design were designated for tree planting, hiking areas like those in Korea, a reservoir, a rainforest, solar energy, pathway energy, and flood control measures. When he finished presenting, almost everyone in the room stood up and applauded including me. He was incredible. My heart jumped when he looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and congratulated him. But my smile disappeared when I saw the sharp look in my sister’s eyes. I swallowed hard and looked away. The host then announced the end of the presentations. They didn’t reveal the winner yet since they still needed to review everything. In this kind of process, the results would only be emailed. After the presentations, people swarmed around Sir Nick. Just from the reactions of the critics and business owners, it was already clear who had won. I didn’t know why, but I was genuinely happy for him. I was so amazed by his talent. I had officially become one of his fans. I always knew he was talented, but that was overshadowed by rumors about his womanizing ways, which led me to judge him before. I could see the happiness in his eyes as he shook hands and spoke with the people in the room. I was startled when someone suddenly pulled me aside. "You seem really happy that our company lost," my sister said sarcastically. "Sis! That’s not true! Besides, the results aren’t out yet," I explained. "Actually, I’m happy for him too. Besides, we will still work together on this project because he will be partnering with Laviste Land Inc. during the implementation phase," she said cheerfully. "I’m not sure about that, Sis, because from what I read in his plan, AMT Construction will be handling the project," I said absentmindedly, then immediately realized I had said something I shouldn’t have. I covered my mouth in shock and fear. I was doomed. I don’t know why I’m always too honest with my sister. "What? Are you sure?" she asked, shocked. "All these years, AMT has focused on design and engineering. Yes, they have a construction division, but it’s just a small business. They can’t handle a project like this." "Really, Sis? Is that so?" I said, trying to cover up my slip. "You’re still new in this industry, you have a lot to learn," she said, patting my head before walking away. I took a deep breath and looked at Sir Nick. Thankfully, My sister didn’t believe me. Otherwise, I’d be in big trouble. I had seen the future expansion and collaboration plans of AMT, which included a shift into large-scale construction. That was a secret project Sir Nick was working on.Nick’s POV “The view is beautiful…” I turned around when I heard Audrey’s voice behind me. She was awake. She was staring at the sun slowly rising above the mountains. The golden rays touched her face, making her glow.“Yes, it really is,” I replied softly, though my eyes weren’t on the sunrise, but on her.She tilted her head back slightly, letting the warmth of the sun embrace her. She smiled, eyes closed, as if savoring every second.Lovely, I thought. When she opened her eyes, I quickly looked away and pretended to be busy admiring the scenery in front of us. But I could feel her gaze on me. I acted like I didn’t notice and just kept my eyes on the mountains. We stayed quiet, both caught in the beauty of the moment, until the air began to grow warmer.“We need to go,” I finally said. She nodded and followed me back to the car. When she got in, I noticed her frown as she realized her seat was reclined. She looked at me, silently asking why, but I avoided her eyes.I started the en
Nick’s POVI can’t explain the joy and excitement running through me about this trip with Audrey. I could barely sleep, thinking about what might happen.Last Monday, Mr. San Fernando called and asked me to design a resort. He sent me photos of the land where it would be built and told me he wanted me to handle the project myself. It’s a billion-dollar project, an enormous opportunity. After five years away from the spotlight, this could be my comeback. He gave me a list of everything he wanted for the resort. For three days straight, I did nothing but research and plan, trying to form a clear direction. Then he called again.“Hello, Mr. Ford. Good morning.” “Good morning, Mr. San Fernando,” I greeted politely. “I was thinking of sending you there with Audrey.”The moment he mentioned her name, something flickered in me. My chest tightened, but in a good way.“Do a site analysis and feasibility study,” he continued. “Bring your materials. It would be better if you start there, feel
Audrey’s POVI received a text from Nick last night about the trip. He even tried calling, but I didn’t answer. I don’t know why… maybe because I was afraid to hear his voice. Instead, I just replied to his message, confirming I’d go.I’ve been nervously waiting here in the condo lobby for a while. We’re leaving early, three in the morning, and I’m still half-asleep. He’s picking me up. I had just stepped out of the elevator when my phone rang. It was Sage. He’s still abroad, and I don’t even know when he’ll be back. Since I’m usually just at the gallery, I didn’t bring Elena with me even though she insisted. I told her I already informed Sage, so she dropped the topic. Even about this trip with Nick.
Audrey’s POVIt’s been a few days since I saw Nick at the pizza parlor.I don’t even know why I acted that way that day. I mean, I’ve always been confident, but somehow, around Nick, I lost that composure. I embarrassed myself more than once, and even now, just thinking about it makes my cheeks burn all over again.“Ma’am, here’s the inventory for the new paintings that just arrived.” My thoughts were interrupted when one of the staff entered my office.“Where’s Scarlett?” I asked.“She’s still there, ma’am. She’s checking the new paintings,” the staff replied.“Okay. Just leave it there.” She placed the folder on the table and left. I was about to reach for it when my phone rang. A smile instantly appeared on my face when I saw the name flashing on the screen.“Papa! How are you?”“Doing great, Audrey, still handsome as ever,” he joked, laughing afterward.I couldn’t help but chuckle. I’m really thankful that I became close to Sage’s father. At first, he looked intimidating, but ev
Nick’s POVI can’t help but smile whenever I remember what happened earlier between me and Audrey. She’s so cute, especially when she blushes.“My Jessica…” I whispered to myself.I was so happy seeing her okay. Just last night, she looked weak and in pain, it felt like someone stabbed my heart. It hurt so much, because all I could do was watch her from afar… and what hurt even more was knowing that another man was there for her. I couldn’t even go near her, hold her, or comfort her.“Uncle Nick, can I ask you something?” Aiah suddenly spoke, while I was watching her and Dylan play with their Lego set.“Sure,” I replied with a smile.“Uhm… what’s your type of girl? Is it like Dylan’s mom?”I was caught off guard, and so was Dylan, judging by his surprised expression.“Hmm…” I pretended to think deeply, but instead of dragging it out, I answered directly, “My type of girl is someone who can tame me.”“Tame you? Hmmm…” Aiah’s brows furrowed as she tried to analyze my words, clearly lo
Scarlett’s POV“Gosh… that was insane. What the hell, Scarlett,” I muttered under my breath.I snapped back to the present. Did I really go that wild last night? Was I really the one who took charge? My eyes widened in disbelief. Was I really that desperate?I still remember how I moved with George, how lost I was in the moment. I was bold, unrestrained… completely taken over by the heat of it all. What’s wrong with me?“Scarlett, you’re shameless!” I shouted, covering my mouth right after. “Oh my gosh, that was so embarrassing. What must George
