Second chances?

Evie's POV

All my life, I always thought that I was the most enduring person that could ever live. But today, I was proved wrong.

I didn't know what did me in to make me turn into a crybaby. Perhaps, it was the way Alpha Damon had looked really furious when he was talking about the attempt on my life. It was such a clear contrast from the man I always saw in the past.

Or maybe it was when he announced that I was his mate. After all, I had thought that the man was ashamed of me since he called the marking an accident.

I didn't know which one it was, but all I knew was that now that he said everything he said and acted the way he did, the waterwork was hard to stop.

I could tell that my action faxed him as he just kept patting my back to soothe me. My back was hunched as I kept burying my face into his chest as much as I could possibly do. I cried until the tears refused to flow again. Once I was a lot calmer, I stepped away from him and cleared my throat.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.
