SELENA’S POV

"Where am I?"

Darkness closed in on me, darkness that did not end, and a chill fog crept around my feet like outstretched fingers. I moved slowly, but the ground I walked upon was not solid, as if I walked upon space.

"Aya?" I tried to summon my wolf but i got nothing in response.

My heart broke into torment. My wolf did not leave me. She would never, definitely not like this.

"Selena Ravenwood," a soft voice cut through the darkness, clear and commanding. I looked around locate its source and then-

She appeared right in front of me.

A woman whose face glowed as if she were the embodiment of the moon, in resplendent silver silk that flowed under her every movement. Fluid metal hair, curled, and silver-colored eyes blazed at night, leaving me to embers with a shiver that ran through my spine.

"W-who are you?" I stuttered, my words twisted in my throat.

She smiled, a star-filled grin. "I am the Moon Goddess."

I stared, stunned and unbelieving conflict raging inside me. The Goddess of the Moon. Our goddess whom we worshiped. Mother of our people. Standing before me.

I bowed my head before meeting her gaze again. "Why am I here? Am I dead?”

I recalled the pain, knife lodged in my stomach, blood oozing around me, Lucian screaming for me—

I clenched my hands into fists. Lucian.

The Moon Goddess approached, tilting her head to one side. "This is where souls that have burden and regrets come to when they die," she sighed. "And you, Selena, have too much regret in your heart."

I swallowed thickly, and I did not know what to say. She was right. There were too many things that caused remorse. I should have been smart. I should have been faster. I should have rescued Caius.

Teardrops fell from my eyes, but I swallowed what raged inside me. "What do I do now?" My voice barely escaped beyond the end of a whisper.

"I am here to release you into peace, child. So you can go on."

I snarled at her as I stumbled. "Go on where?"

Her silver eyes glinted as she smiled. "I will provide you with a new life. A life where you will be loved, cherished. Where your family and your mate will cherish you. But," she stammered. "You will not remember this life. This pain. It will be erased from your memory."

The thought was so seductive. Second chance. Life without the tragedy, the betrayal at the hands of Lucian.

And something inside me moved, anyway.

"And what about Lucian?" I interrupted, growling. "He gets away with it all? After all he did? After he murdered Caius?"

The Moon Goddess did not respond.

I seethed with anger, fought against the numbness spreading up towards me. "No," I vowed. "He doesn’t get to walk free. He killed Caius, my mate. He killed me! And you want me to forget all this? Let him live out the rest of his days in peace?"

"Revenge is a dark road, Selena," she warned.

"Then I'll do it," I growled. "I don't want peace. I want revenge."

She breathed in, as though she'd been holding it since standing there waiting for me to say something. "Are you sure that this is the choice you'd like to make?"

"Yes."

"You can't take it back," she warned. "You'll be left with your choice, and you won't be able to do anything if you regret it."

"I don't care." I curled my fists within my palms. "Take me back."

The Moon Goddess stared at me for a moment, probably waiting to see if I would change my mind. She eventually nodded. "Very well. Remember, revenge is a dark path and it might end up consuming you.”

I took a deep breath, and her words settled within me, as heavy as lead. I did not mind. My will was determined.

She grasped my hand and held tight, and a wave of silver light enveloped me.

My last memory of the night when the darkness descended was the whisper of her gentle voice on the breeze—

"Then rise, Selena Ravenwood. Rewrite your fate."

"Caius!" I shouted, jerking up in bed with a shudder, panting down tiny, frightened breaths.

My room. I was home.

I winced remembering everything that happened. And I was here. Alive. Breathing.

I jerked my head to the nightstand beside me, broad eyes staring at the clock. The moon Goddess had sent back to the day I died, Two hours before my date with Caius.

My heart swelled with happiness. She had given me a chance to save him.

Standing up from the bed, I grabbed the first dress I could lay hands on. I dressed up as fast as I could and ran out the door. I did not bother to go to the restaurant this time. I made my way straight to Caius' house, hoping that I would arrive there in time to stop Lucian.

The front door was slightly open. I went in and ran upstairs two steps at a time.

I was greeted by their sounds when I burst into the room.

"You don't understand, Lucian!" Caius was angry.

"No, you don't understand," Lucian shouted. "This is a bad decision you are about to take. It’s not worth it.”

I strode in, out of breath. The two men turned to me, their faces angry. My gaze fell on the knife on the table. The same knife which had been used on—

No. Not now.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, trying so hard to hide the fear in my voice.

Lucian's face turned white as dried pomegranate, his face burning with rage as he glared at Caius with a fierce face, then turned and strode away without a word.

Caius cursed under his breath, his hair falling back off his face. "Selena, I thought we were meeting at the restaurant.."

"I know but I was too eager to see you," I answered, moving to stand directly in front of him. "Caius, what happened? Why did Lucian—"

"It's nothing," he interrupted, attempting a smile. "Let's forget about it, okay? I don't want to spoil our night."

“Okay.” I smiled, a satisfied smile because I was able to save him.

I am never going to lose him. I am going to have him in my line of sight every second if I must.

We arrived at the restaurant in Caius' car and we were directed to our reserved seat. They served us our meal and we ate while having small talks about how our week has been.

"Selena," Caius called but there was something in his tone that made me feel unease. "There's something I have to tell you."

My heart racing, I couldn't help but grin. Was it what I had been waiting for? Is he finally going to ask me to be his Luna?

"Okay. What is it?" I placed my cutlery on the plate, giving him my full attention.

He hesitated and drew a deep nervous breath, bending his head down for an instant before his eyes met mine again. His mask was firmly in place.

"We can't be together, Selena.”

My heart stopped for a moment and I waited for him to laugh at my face and say it was a joke. But his next sentence came as a dagger stove deep into my heart.

"I, Caius Reynolds, reject Selena Ravenwood as my mate."

And just like that, my second chance stared back at me like a sick joke.

DARCY'S POVSelena sat propped against her pillows, a tray of breakfast balanced on her lap, pushing scrambled eggs around with her fork like they personally offended her.I sat in the chair beside her, close enough to help if she needed it, far enough to give her space. The doctor had just left after his morning rounds, and his words still echoed in my head."She's healing well. I'm discharging her in three days."I was happy for the good news except for what he'd said right after, pulling me into the hallway while Selena pretended not to notice."Miss Darcy, we need to discuss her pregnancy. We can't hide it forever. It's her body. She'll start showing signs soon, fatigue, nausea, physical changes. You need to break it to her without shocking her."I nodded, promised I'd figure something out, and walked back into the room with a smile I didn't feel. Now I watched my sister eat, her brow furrowed in concentration like each bite required effort. How was I supposed to tell her that she

LUCIAN'S POVThe mall was still quiet when we arrived the following morning. There were fewer shoppers and the energy from yesterday's chaos had faded, replaced by the sterile hum of fluorescent lights and distant elevator chimes.I didn't head to the escalator. That scene was already cleaned, already empty. What I needed were witnesses.Xavier and I split up, covering the stores closest to where Selena fell, asking if they had witnessed how Selena fell. I started with a small jewelry kiosk, then a shoe store, then a café.Most attendants shrugged and shook their heads, claiming they hadn't seen anything. But the fourth one, a young woman working at a cell phone repair booth, paused when I asked."You're the prince of Lunaroria, right? The one whose mate got hurt?""Yes." I kept my voice calm, though my heart hammered in my chest. "Did you see what happened?"She bit her lip, glancing around nervously. "I didn't see the fall itself. But I saw someone hanging around the top of the esca

  • VENGEFUL TIES: Bonds formed from Revenge    The confrontation

LUCIAN'S POVI sat outside in the hallway when Darcy came out and said Selena was asleep due to the medication she took. I nodded without saying a word.“What are you going to do now?” she asked with her arms folded, and I knew she was asking about the incident. She believed it was Talia's doing, and i also believed the same. King Aldric won't admit it without any evidence he would surely try to cover up for her if there's evidence proving it was Talia's doing.“I have to go to the palace,” I stood up, and Xavier followed suit. “There are guards around the hospital to look after you and Selena. Make sure you call me immediately if anything happens.”She nodded, and I walked toward the exit with Xavier beside me.The drive back to the palace was quiet. Xavier stared out the window, and I gripped the steering wheel so hard my knuckles ached. Neither of us spoke. There was nothing left to say that wouldn't end in a fight. When we arrived, the palace was oddly quiet. I strode through the

LUCIAN’S POV The door to Selena’s room opened. The doctor stepped out, clipboard still in hand, and spotted me on the floor. He didn't comment. He just walked over, expression professional but not unkind.“Prince Lucian,” he said. “Your mate is stable. Physically, she's healing well. The baby's vitals are strong as well.”Relief flickered through the darkness. “But?”“But her memory loss is significant, as you heard. The temporal lobe trauma is still healing. I strongly advise that you do not give her any information that might cause her shock or distress.”I let out a bitter laugh. “So I just pretend to be a stranger?”“For now.” His tone was firm but gentle. “Let her body heal first. In the meantime, you can help by showing her things that she forgot, places that might bring back her memories.. Anything that might trigger a memory. But do not overwhelm her. Small steps.”He handed me a prescription slip. “These are for pain and anti-inflammatories. She'll need rest and minimal stre

LUCIAN’S POV I pressed my back against the cold hospital wall, arms crossed so tightly over my chest that my knuckles ached. Xavier stood beside me, silent and still as a statue, but I could feel his occasional glances. Across the room, Darcy sat on the edge of Selena’s bed, holding her sister’s hand like she was afraid Selena would slip away again. Also because she was the only one Selena recognised. The doctor stood on the other side, a clipboard in his hand, asking questions in that calm, clinical voice that made me want to scream.“What is your full name?”“Selena Ravenwood.”Her voice was weak but steady. That was good.“Do you know where you are?”She hesitated. “A hospital. But how did i get here?”“Selena, what is the last thing you remember before waking up here?”She was quiet for a long moment. Darcy squeezed her hand. I held my breath.“I was…” Selena’s brow furrowed, her eyes distant. “I was getting ready for a date with Caius. I remember leaving my house, that's it. Di

LUCIAN’S POVI froze as I slowly turned back to the doctor, my throat tightening all over again. “What is the bad news?” I forced out, my voice trembling in fear. The doctor’s expression shifted, it wasn't a sad expression but a look that meant the worst part hadn’t been spoken yet.He drew in a steady breath before he started, “Your mate sustained a significant head injury when she fell. The impact caused trauma near the temporal region, the part of the brain that affects memory and awareness.”My heart clenched but I didn’t interrupt him.He continued carefully, choosing every word like it weighed a ton. “This type of trauma can lead to complications. Some are temporary… some can linger. We won’t fully understand the extent until she wakes up.”I swallowed hard “Complications like what?”He hesitated, then answered honestly.“She may experience retrograde amnesia, meaning she could lose memories from before the fall. Sometimes weeks before or months before. In rare cases, as long as
