Leo was half asleep on the cot while Frost was busy on the laptop searching for information. The young lady was still comatose with a drip on her right arm. Machines monitoring her breathing and heart rate were beeping softly by her side.
Maria opened the door a crack and peeped inside. Seeing her boss, she went in with the lunch that she had prepared for them. "Frost, you need to go home and rest for a while. Leo and l can watch over her". Leo's stomach grumbled as he smelled the food. Frost got up from his seat and stretched, heading towards the window. The information he got about the wedding couple gave him question marks. The wedding happened the same week he rescued her and it was also in the same county. How were they related for her to have such a violent reaction? And why was she locked up in that dirty, dark shed, beaten almost half to death? He never liked mysteries and he was itching to get to the bottom of this. Leo was already up and eating while Maria got warm water and a face towel and started wiping the lady's face and arms. She felt so bad seeing the girl she had taken great care of in such conditions. Needing a quick shower and a change of clothes, Frost handed the laptop to Leo and rushed home. Meanwhile, Weister was doing her afternoon rounds and came to check on her, her special patient. Nothing seemed to have changed since the night. Her vital organs were functioning normally and the wound wasn't bleeding. She asked Maria and Leo to leave the room so she could assign a nurse to sponge bath and massage the lady. They didn't want her to have any bed sores. ***** She stood frozen at the bedroom door, not believing the scene that was before her. Her fiancé, the love of her life, the man she was ready to spend the rest of her life with was fast asleep in their bed, and horror of all horrors, a woman was curled up next to him. Her fingers went numb and she dropped the shopping bags in her hands. That sound jerked Damont out of his sleep and opening his eyes, saw Vinca standing in the room. He scrambled out of bed, waking the woman sleeping next to him. He frantically searched for something to cover himself with while trying to figure out how to explain himself. The lady leisurely got out of bed and lazily stretched her naked body. She then picked Damont's shirt and wore it. Damont with a towel wrapped around his torso went and held Jasmine's hand. "Honey, what are you doing here? I thought your flight was for tomorrow evening?" Her mind was completely blank. The lady got up, went, and held Damont's waist. "Just tell her the truth already." She said in a mean voice Vinca, as if coming out of a trance, looked at her fiancé waiting for an explanation. He turned to the woman and holding her by the shoulders, led her to the living room. "Please, just leave and let me deal with this. I will call you later" he said and quickly rushed back into the bedroom. Vinca was still standing in the same spot trying to understand what she just saw. He took her hand and made her sit on the armchair that was in the room. "Honey, it's not what you think. This is a mistake, please forgive me. I promise it will never happen again." Jasmine looked at him with eyes full of pain. "Who is she and what is she doing in our house? How long have you been cheating on me?" her voice choked. Damien looking down said, "That is not important. Let's just forget about it. I said I'm never going to repeat it." He wanted to downplay what had just happened because he wasn't expecting her to find out this way. He wasn't even expecting her to be back tonight. He only hoped that her parents would not find out about this otherwise all his efforts would have been for naught. Without looking at him, she picked up her phone to call her Dad. When he saw who she was about to call, he snatched the phone from her, held and twisted her wrist. "What the hell are you trying to do? Want to report me to your father? You have no idea what is going to happen to you yet you want to alert that man. You must be crazy". He was shouting and hurting her hand. Vinca couldn't believe the change that had occurred. Her gentle, ever caring and kind fiancė right now was like an insane person and she was really scared. "Please, you are hurting me" He didn't seem to care. Instead, he shoved her onto the bed and confiscated her phone, went to his wardrobe, took a shirt and trousers, and left, locking the door after him. Vinca had no idea her nightmare had just begun. She ran to the door and started banging on it, calling out to Damont. He went to the door, kicked it then told her to stop screaming. Taking his phone, he called the other woman. ***** "Mr V. wants to know if you are willing to make another appointment with him. You have some unfinished business" said Leo looking at his boss who had been out of sorts the past three days. Frost shook his head looking at the time on his wristwatch. Picking the folder that had the Genex Project from his desk, he walked to the couch in his office. He could feel a headache coming up so he removed his spectacles. He squeezed the bridge of his nose and Leo noticing this, went to the drawer, took out some painkillers, and handed them to him with a glass of water. His boss hadn't slept for the past three days shuffling his time between the office and the hospital. It was beginning to take a toll on him but knowing Frost, he wasn't going to rest until the young lady came out of the coma. Back at the hospital, Maria thought she saw the young lady's pinkie finger twitch. She was watching over her as Frost and Leo were at the office. Moving closer, she touched her forehead to feel her temperature. All of a sudden, the lady started having convulsions. She was thrashing her hands on the bed and kicking the air uncontrollably. The Ball was well underway, and everyone was enjoying themselves except for Damont, who sat gloomily with a glass of champagne in hand. The host took the microphone and cleared his throat to get people's attention."Ladies and gentlemen, the auction is about to begin. The hostesses will pass around the bidder cards to all who wish to participate, which I hope is all of you," he said with a boisterous laugh."Please feel free to bid as high as you can for it is all for a good cause. The items to be auctioned are all on the brochure on your tables".After everything was set in place, the auctioneer took over. The first item to be auctioned was a 17th-century gold coin which would be good for a collectors board.Bidding started at 100,000 dollars and it was mainly the old folks who participated. Frost's father had a whole collection of old coins which were kept, polished in a glass display case.Taking his time, he waited for people to outbid themselves till it got to 3 million dollars a
Vinca knew that this time would come and she thought she had fully prepared herself for an encounter with the two people she considered worse than sewer rats.Giving them a questioning look, she held Frost's hand."Am sorry, but who are you?" she asked innocently, giving them a vague look. That question shook Damont to the core. Was Vinca pretending not to know them? He was her fiancé just until about a few months ago. How could she not know him? Or maybe she had lost her memory after that incident? That would explain why she got engaged to some other man so quickly."Darling, this is Damont. He is the owner of VilaBeau, a company in West and I presume that this is his wife." "I told you about us having a corporation with them," he said hoping that she would be able to withstand the turmoil he knew was going on in her heart. He even felt sorry for putting her through this but it was the first step towards getting back VilaBeau for her.She nodded her head and then turned to them,
Shanice, flustered by her mistake and wrong assumption, took a sip of the champagne to stabilize her pounding heart. It was only now that she realized that Vinca was wearing the gown that Frost had ordered. She also had on the jewellery that she had picked out at Azaeit, so she was sure she also had the shoes too. "I am so stupid. I should have known when the dress didn't get delivered to my place" she thought to herself. She just had to brave the night. Leo got up to go back to his date not wanting to be involved in his boss's drama because he could smell it coming on. "Frost, I'm so sorry. I just assumed that I would be your usual date for the Ball." She said, giving Vinca a meaningful look. "How dare she try to take my place, this flat-faced bed climber" she clenched her fist in anger. Vince completely understood the jab thrown at her and could just hold it in. Shanice was right anyway, she was the third wheel in this equation. She decided to remain oblivious to this and jus
A reporter stepped away from the mayhem to take a call. He didn't believe what his director just said. He had just been fired for gross misconduct and ordered to take the first plane back to West. As he wondered what was going on, several other reporters received calls from their superiors that left them perplexed. They had just lost their jobs without warning and were ordered back to their stations. Only one of them realized with shock that this was the consequence of rattling the lce King. "Are you feeling better?" Frost asked her, giving her a tender hug while rubbing her back. He wanted to rip off the tongues of those rogue reporters who spouted nonsense to his lady but he knew that their hell was upon them. "Frost, who's the lady who followed me to the washroom just now?" Frost beckoned to the bodyguards to come forward. "They are your bodyguards Storm and Carly." He saw the question coming. "I recruited them and they have been by your side ever since we came back from Nice"
The night was lit!! Glamour held hands with elegance, grandeur spoke with gentility, fineness and magnificence defined prominence. It wasn't just about colour and pomp. Money clashed with power to produce an explosive panorama. From the powerful machines that dropped off the glamorous guests to the designer clothes and limited edition accessories, one could feel the power that money held. A luxurious black Rolls Royce pulled up and all cameras focused on it. The customized number plate announced the arrival of Fortlink Enterprise Corporation's CEO. The uniformed chauffeur alighted to open the door for his boss and cameras started clicking. Shiny black shoes followed by long legs stepped down. Frost alighted and straightened his dinner jacket. He was in a midnight blue tuxedo with black satin lapels and a light blue and white pocket square. Touching his bow tie, he opened the back passenger door and extended his hand. Everyone gasped when they saw the lady alighting from the car.
