Chapter 3

Author: Mimi Wood
She pointed at Mason and me, like she had just grabbed onto her last lifeline.

"They didn’t dare use their IDs to register! That means they’re hiding something! This woman is way older than that guy. There’s no way they’re in a normal relationship! She’s obviously keeping a younger guy on the side behind her husband’s back!"

I let out a cold laugh and met her gaze head-on. "So that’s your justification for knowingly breaking the law—livestreaming and spying on hotel guests’ privacy?"

The moment my words fell, Riley froze for only a few seconds before exploding. "I invaded your privacy? Don’t you know what the hell you two were doing yourselves?!"

She jutted her chin out and pointed right at my face, turning to complain to the police instead.

"Officers, don’t be fooled by her! She’s selling herself! Bringing a man to a hotel behind her husband’s back on Valentine’s Day! Check her phone! Check that guy’s phone too. There’s definitely money transfers between them!"

One of the officers, Officer Levi Goodman, frowned, his gaze shifting toward me with a trace of scrutiny.

On the livestream, her phone was still unlocked, and the comments were scrolling wildly.

"Yeah, didn’t she say she’s innocent? Let’s see her phone!"

"Exactly, if you’ve done nothing wrong, what are you afraid of?"

"I bet there’s definitely transaction records."

At that moment, a middle-aged man in a suit, looking polished on the surface, hurried over.

"Officers, what’s going on here? What happened?" He was Ryan Todd, the hotel manager.

I had thought help had arrived and that he would at least care about the hotel’s reputation and give me a fair explanation.

Suddenly, I caught a subtle movement. When Riley saw him, she instinctively reached out, as if to grab his arm, then stopped herself because the police were there.

That tiny gesture made my heart sink.

Ryan first greeted the officers with a broad smile, then turned to us, his expression shifting into one of concern laced with reproach.

"You two guests caused quite a disturbance in your room. Our front desk was concerned for your safety, so she came to check on you."

I let out a cold scoff. In a single sentence, he had twisted her voyeuristic livestream into something entirely different. No wonder he was the manager.

The next second, his tone shifted, turning stern. "However, our hotel is a legitimate establishment, not a place for you to cause trouble. Filing a false police report carries legal consequences."

I never expected him to bite back like this.

"Your actions have already seriously affected our hotel’s reputation and disturbed other guests’ rest. You need to leave immediately."

I could hardly believe what I was hearing. "You’re kicking us out?"

I glanced out the window. At some point, the wind and snow had picked up.

It was Valentine’s Day, and the ski resort hotels were already fully booked. If we left now, we wouldn’t even have a place to stay.

With Ryan backing her up, Riley instantly grew bolder. Her face was filled with undisguised smugness and mockery.

"You heard him. Get out. It’s snowing outside. I’d love to see where you two end up."

Ryan remained expressionless as he spoke into his radio, "Security, send two people to Room 808 to remove the guests’ belongings."

Riley grew even more excited, raising her phone toward the livestream.

"Guys! Here comes the best part! Let’s take a look inside their room and see just how wild things really are!"

As she spoke, she started charging into my room.

"Wait." My voice wasn’t loud, but it was enough to make everyone present stop in their tracks.

I looked at the two of them coldly and curved my lips into a faint smile. "Are you sure you want to go in?"

Riley froze for a second, then burst out laughing.

"Hahaha, what? Are you scared? The more you try to stop me, the more I want to see. I’m going to show everyone exactly how disgusting you really are, and what you’re really like behind the scenes!"

I smiled along with her, locking eyes with her. "Go ahead. Just don’t regret it."

She let out a dismissive snort and shoved the door open.

The next second, she froze in place, like she had turned to stone.

Mason was waiting for me outside the station. When he saw me walk out, he broke into a wide grin. "Shy, let’s go home.""Yeah. Let’s go home."The matter didn’t end there.I hired Ashton Keller, a lawyer. After listening to my account, he adjusted his glasses."Disturbing public order, extortion, violation of personal information rights. Those are multiple offenses combined. My estimate? At least three years, possibly more."He also reminded me, "Her family will likely come to you, asking for a letter of forgiveness. Be prepared for that."I nodded. I understood.Sure enough, just a couple of days later, a middle-aged man and woman, travel-worn and exhausted, showed up at the small motel we were staying in.They were Riley’s parents. They looked much older than their actual age. Their clothes were plain, their faces lined with the hardships of life.I thought they had come to beg for leniency, but the moment they saw me, without a word, they dropped to their knees.Mason reac

Her call came again. This time, her laughter was even more unrestrained."What? Trying to buy me off with this little bit of money? I’m telling you. No way! $100,000. Not a cent less!"I hung up without saying a word. For the third order, I went straight onto a luxury platform and placed an order for a brand-new designer bag. $3,000. Cash on delivery. Non-refundable.This time, it took a while before she called again. When she finally did, the arrogance in her voice was gone. It was replaced by a tremor she couldn’t quite hide."You… What are you trying to do?!"I finally spoke, my voice calm and steady, "Treat you the same way you treated me. You like livestreaming, don’t you? I’m just giving you more content."I hung up, then placed the fourth order.A top-tier gaming PC. $5,000. Delivered under her name. When the phone rang again, all that came through was her complete breakdown. She was screaming and sobbing."I was wrong! I was really wrong! Please, please, just let me

Early the next morning, Mason stood there with dark circles under his eyes, shoving his phone in front of me."Shy, look."Riley had opened a brand-new livestream account. Her face was bruised and swollen, but in front of the camera, she cried like a tragic heroine."Guys, I got beaten up just because I exposed those two disgusting people! They’re not siblings at all. They’re a pair of perverts!"Rich people really have twisted tastes these days. Playing forbidden sibling games on Valentine’s Day. When I found out, they lashed out in anger. Not only did they beat me, but they even got people to ruin my job. Now everyone’s turned against me!"She cried and ranted, her performance worthy of an award.Viewers who didn’t know the truth were instantly stirred up. The livestream comments turned vile."What the hell? Is this real? That’s disgusting!""I knew that woman wasn’t decent. Just look at her face!""These two need to be exposed completely. Ruin them socially!"What chilled

In my mind, the image of Ryan flashed instantly, specifically the cufflink on his suit, the exact same design as that necklace.I went through the account’s following list and found their alternate accounts. The moment I opened their profiles, the screen was filled with intimate photos.I smiled. So that’s what it was.No wonder he had been protecting her so fiercely, even willing to offend guests and twist the truth.A bolder, more ruthless plan began to take shape in my mind.I compiled all the evidence into a single package.I sent the first copy directly to the public work email of the hotel group’s board director. "Your hotel’s management style is truly something special. Anyone who didn’t know better might think they’re the real couple here."The second copy, I sent to Ryan’s wife. The third, I sent to Riley’s parents. After finishing everything, I calmly set my phone down, powered it off, and turned to Mason."Go to sleep."The result of what I did came out very soon.

"More importantly," I paused, emphasizing each word, "her livestream has a tipping feature. Just now, multiple people were sending her gifts. What she’s done already constitutes profiting from the distribution of explicit content."And this manager," my gaze shifted to Ryan, who was now breaking out in a cold sweat, "from beginning to end, didn’t bother to distinguish right from wrong. Instead of protecting a guest’s privacy and safety, his first instinct was to shield his employee, going as far as trying to throw the victims out into a snowstorm."I let out a cold laugh and slowly looked between the two of them. "It’s hard not to suspect that the two of you are in this together."The moment I finished speaking, both their faces turned completely ashen. The police took Riley and Ryan back to the station for questioning. Mason and I followed. We gave our statements at the station and didn’t leave until four in the morning. The outcome came quickly.Riley was detained for three day

There was only one blanket on the bed. The other one lay alone on the floor in the corner.Riley’s eyes widened instantly. "That’s impossible! I-I clearly heard sounds just now!"Seeing her reaction, Ryan’s expression darkened as well. He stepped forward and shoved her aside.I looked at the two of them coldly, then turned to the police and took my ID out of my pocket."Officer, this is my ID." Then I looked at Mason. "Check your phone. See if you still have a photo of your ID."He immediately understood. He pulled out his phone and opened the digital copy of his ID.I held the two IDs side by side in front of the officers. "We have the same surname. You can verify we’re siblings."Riley was still sneering from the side. "All for show. Who knows if those are Photoshopped—"She didn’t even finish her sentence before she saw the officer’s face after checking the information. It had turned extremely grim. She finally realized something was wrong. The smile on her face stiffened.
