Henry

Chapter 2

 

            Later, after the kids were done with all their questions, Mr. Pizzaro had left with his team, and all his presentation items, the bell rang, and the kids were off to their next classes. Amber is now going on to her 2nd year class next period, then 3rd and 4th year classes, the 3 periods after that. She took a quick lunch in between, helping some students, and then she was off at 2 pm. Now she was ready to go home. So, she thought.

            “Ms. Parks, I need to see you in my office before you go!” A heavy-set man snuck his balding head into her classroom and peered out her. “We had another problem with Henry.” That would be Principal Baker, and he was super, nice man. He lost his wife a few years back, and his weight has just ballooned, which all the teachers have been trying to help him on a diet plan to get him back to good health. She nodded at him, and he was gone.

            As Amber entered the office for Principal Baker, she saw Henry. He didn’t look well and pale. “Amber, I must leave on an emergency, and the assistant principal is tied up with another serious problem on the other side of campus. Would you please help Henry and take him to the doctors. He was assaulted on the way home, and the police have been called.”

            “Oh, yes, sir, come on Henry lets go get you taken care of. Are you hurt anywhere?”

            Henry didn’t say anything, and he just stared at her. “Oh, Amber, he isn’t responding, and the police said he could be in shock, so just to take him right over, please. Abby (another student who saw Henry, unfortunately not the person who assaulted him) brought him from the side lot.

            Amber headed off with Henry and to the Urgent Care literally next door. She phones the parents, but no one was answering. She got Henry to the Urgent Care, and they took him right in, a Police officer just showed up and went in with him. Amber wasn’t allowed because she wasn’t family. She spoke to the nurse to help them get all the information they needed about Henry. They too tried to get ahold of his family. However, they had no luck too.

            Sargent Stocken comforted Amber and started asking her questions about Henry. “Ms. Parks, I understand you brought him over from the school. Can you provide any more information on what may have happened to Henry?”

            “No, Officer. I don’t know anything more than what Principal Baker had told you.”

            “Are you aware his parents and siblings are missing as well?”

            “No, Officer. I mean, I spoke to his mother this morning, and she was angry that Henry wasn’t doing well in my class. However, that was around 8 am. this morning.”

            “Well, that has Henry in school and in the principal’s office this morning as well. His mother was seen leaving the school. None of the other siblings were in class.”

            “No, Mike, Josh, and Natalie were all in their classes today, and I have Mike in my 3rd Period class. Mike met up with Josh and Natalie after and went to English together for 4th Period. Mike and Josh are twins and are seniors, and Natalie is a junior. They have class next to each other and went to class because Ms. Jones had been talking about the presentation they did today for their English report. Otherwise, I don’t know about lunch or after lunch, unfortunately.”

            “Thank you, Ms. Parks, and may we have your number so we can call you later if we need further information.”

            “Yes of course, what about Henry?”

            “He is going to stay in the hospital for a few days with a police guard to watch over him. We are currently looking for his family. His father didn’t report to work, and the mother had not returned home after being seen here leaving. If you hear anything about the other kids, please give us a call. Thank you very much for your time.”

            “Yes, Officer, I will.” Then the Officer left, and she felt really worried for Henry. The nurse came over and informed her she may go see Henry now. She thought she would go sit with him for a little bit and make sure he knew he wasn’t alone.
