MasukVanessa's POV
Something is off. I don't know what is, but something is definitely off.
For starters Adele is acting like she's on overdrive. I understand she's grieving, but no grieving wife would be in a hurry to donate her husband's organs.
And I know she's lying about this being Eric's wishes.
I knew Eric well enough that he wouldn't die with such a benevolent wish, he was that selfish.
So, what was Adele up to?
Gosh!
So many what ifs scenarios are playing in my mind right now, and I'm seconds away from losing my shit completely.
I called Clara over to help me in dealing with Adele, because even though Eric and I were together it was still considered an affair, I was just a side chick with zero rights.
But instead of helping, she's turned into a liability.
Now I'm stuck with looking after her, while Eric is at the mercy of Adele.
I took in a couple of deep breaths to keep me mind clear and stick to the plan.
Now, all I had to do was find an empty room to dump Clara in, and then go back to Eric, before Adele could do something irreversible.
God knows what crazy ideas she has brewing in her head next.
I was lucky to find an empty room not too far from the OR. I laid Clara on it and just as I made to pull the shade, I froze.
Adele alongside some man was pushing Eric into a van-
Not just any van, an hearse.
“Oh me goodness, Clara!” I yelled in panic, and yanked her feet so hard that she almost fell right off the bed, but I got to her side in time and shielded her with my body. “Clara wake up!” I forced her to sit, tapping her cheeks lightly. “Adele's about to bury your brother. Wake. Up.”
Pow! I slapped her so hard across her cheeks, that my palms stinged.
But that seemed to do the trick.
“W-wha–” she groaned incoherently.
“Adele's trying to bury, Eric,” I pulled her back onto the wheel chair, and pushed her out of the hospital like a lunatic.
The hearse was already turning onto the street by the time we got out.
“Taxi!” I flagged down the nearest taxi, and together with Clara we jumped in. “Follow that hearse!”
The driver quickly sprung into action, no questions asked.
We were hot in the hearse’s trail, but it didn't seem enough. Eric might wake up anytime, and everything was going to blow over.
All our plans, and–
A cold shiver went down my spine.
If words gets out that I faked Eric's death, and forged a death certificate I'll be going to jail.
And as for Eric? He had just two days to pay back the whopping twenty million dollars loan he collected from the loan sharks.
Everything was–
“A crematorium?!” Clara gasped, pulling me out of my train of thoughts.
I followed her line of sight and watched as the hearse drove into a crematorium.
Adele's evil. Real Evil!
A crematorium? There's no way in hell Eric was surviving that.
“We have to stop her from getting Eric into the furnace!”
Clara nodded sharply.
We got to the gate of the crematorium, and the security seemed to be asking loads of useless questions we didn't have answers to.
As if in sync, Clar and I got down from the taxi, after I threw a few dollar bills at the driver.
We raced into the reception like our lives depended on it-it does actually.
“Adele Pearson!” Clara breathed out to the receptionist, while my eyes scanned around for any sign of Adele of the man I saw her with.
“W-what?” She stuttered in confusion.
“There!” I screamed, and pulled Clara with me in the direction I saw Adele go.
“Excuse me ma'am–” the receptionist began to say, but Clara and I were already down the corridor.
“Stop it Adele!” Clara yelled as we rushed into the room where the furnace was. “What are you trying to do, you're trying to cremate my brother?”
Adele was turning on the ignition switch of the furnace which had Eric in it.
Jesus! She couldn't even wait to set him ablaze herself!
“Clara, I–” Adele stuttered. “I’m just trying to get things moving. You passed out and–”
“Really Adele?” I cut in, unable to curb my anger anymore. “You just want to cremate him without even giving us a chance to say our last good-byes?”
“I don't need to take permission from you, Nessa, if that's what you're implying,” Adele said. “This is a family business. What are you so invested in whatever decision I make as Eric's wife.”
“I just..”
“Nessa is not just anyone, and you know it, Adele. She's a family friend, she and Eric are–”
I nudged her slightly, before she'd spilled more than necessary.
“They're what?” Adele asked, seeming to put two and two together.
“They're colleagues, they've been friends since med school!” Clara flared dismissively, stepping in front of Adele to block her from reaching the switch. “Step back, Adele. I can't allow you to burn my brother alive.”
“Burn him alive? Clara he's already dead,” Adele said, and looked over at me. “Doctor Vanessa pronounced him dead, she even signed his death certificate. Isn't that true?”
“Ermm..of course,” I forced out, internally cursing Clara for making things worse instead of actually helping.
“What's going on here?” The man I saw with Adele earlier walked in. “Ma'am, I cut the line for you, but you need to be quick before my superior's finds out what I'd done.”
My eye's widened in disbelief.
She even had to cut the line? Jeez! How vile could one be.
“I'm sorry for the delay,” Adele sniffled. “I'll just get to it immediately.”
The man shook his head, and stepped out.
“Move aside, Clara,” Adele said.
“No.” Clara said firmly.
Adele didn't waste another word on Clara, and made to push her aside.
“Nessa, come help me!” Clara yelled, as she struggled to stop Adele from getting to the switch.
Adele is strong, I've got to give her that. She seemed to have the strength of ten people put together.
I stepped in to help, but Adele pushed me aside like I weighed nothing.
I lost my balance, and in an attempt to steady myself, my hands slammed against the switch, turning it on.
ADELE'S POV“I do not understand why you've got to be the chief bridesmaid Adele, you should be resting and not roaming around with flowers!” Camilla said in frustration as she made my hair into a tight bun. We were getting late for the wedding and that was because of me, I woke up a bit too late and no one certainly was willing to disturb the wife of their boss despite the occasion of the day.“Not so tight, my head's gonna explode!” I said to Camila, gently freeing my hair of its tight grip, she certainly had gotten extremely tired of me and my demands, but that only was the beginning, we would be playing the bridesmaids role together.“Excuse me, why am I here again?I do not even know the bride!” She added in a bit of frustration.&
ERIC'S POV“I do not deserve this, none of this!” I yelled out, clenching my fist tightly as I stared towards Adele. I had tried my best, I had begged her to the best of my abilities but she certainly wasn't willing to help. I felt cheated and mostly humiliated, no way I was supposed to be locked down in here, if only I was able to run off before Angels men arrived at my house. If only they had waited for at least 10 minutes, I certainly would have been long gone.I had hurried over to my place to get a few of my things before i left town, i certainly wasn't expecting sergio to die so easily, he had assured me to sit back and watch him take over from Angel which i had excitedly done, i felt kidnapping Adele would work just fine this time around considering Angel was madly in love with her, all I had to do was give Sergio the advice which he thought useful and then sit back and watch
I woke up with the most horrific headache one could ever think of. I laid on the bed most of the night, although I couldn't sleep. I watched Angel hover around in the room dozing off at a not so regular interval. For a moment, I thought of sitting up and letting him know he needed to sleep considering I was okay, but that only meant making him worried. He was gonna worry more about why I wasn't asleep. I watched him come closer, tuck me into the duvet and kiss on my forehead, not once, nor twice. I felt so lucky to have him around.A part of me still couldn't wrap my head around the fact I was in love with this mafia boss, the same one I swore I wouldn't rest until I saw his end. The same one whose presence gave me shivers, not due to love but fear, but now I found myself only being scared of losing him. I now was accustomed to his life, I actually had learnt to love him for who he was and whatever he did. I tried to bru
ANGEL'S POV I waited for Joe's arrival at my office desk after calling for him earlier. He took a little while before he arrived and I would have been pissed about that, but decided not to. I rested my head into the chair, swinging back and forth and trying so hard not to doze off, but then my door creaked open.“Go get Eric!” I simply said not bothering to lift up my head. I had handled the big frys and was gonna leave the rest to Joe. “Alive!” I added. “Sure thing boss!” The door slammed closed after a short while and I laid still, my mind distant. I had given Yuri lots of privileges, majorly because I feared if I had hurt him Adele wouldn't be cool with that, but he lost it all when he took the hands of Sergio, when he decided to work against my clan. He certainly had some nerves considering how pitiful he had looked from the beginning, I never would have assumed he would do a thing of that extreme. First I let him be even though I was quite aware he walked hand in hand with Yur
ANGEL'S POV The street leading to the Moretti's home was a bit crowded as a crowd of excited looking clan members hovered around in the street, I guess it was some form of celebration. The Mafia's overall power had shifted into their hands so it was a good thing they decided on some sort of celebration, quite sure they hadn't realized they was no boss taking over my position, I needed to finish up whoever may be next in line or whoever may think to take over from Sergio, no one dared take away my property. The gates were wide open and I drove straight in. I picked my guns up and didn't bother hiding any of them as I walked straight into the building. I paused looking back towards the direction where the sound of music buzzed out loudly, it seemed to be at the back or maybe their garden section. I took out a cigarette from my pocket and lit it on as I walked further towards the crowd, only a few cared to cast a glance my way, they all seemed carried away with the party. My eyes met wi
ANGEL'S POV I laid on the ground, my heart pounding rapidly and my eyes almost fell off from its socket in disbelief. I had just watched Adele do the unthinkable, I didn't want to believe and I guess she also didn't want to as we both threw glances at each other. My whole body was sore but I managed to pull myself up sitting as I still stared at the dead bodies laying right on the ground. Adele flung the gun out from her hand into the ground as she screamed out, her voice trembling, her heaves coming out loudly. She rubbed her palm continuously on her dress like it would erase the fact she had just shot three people. I painfully got up on my feet as I walked towards her, she had moved a few feet backwards and her back was now pressed against the balcony.“I just shot three fucking people!” She said the moment I was in front of her. Her eyes were bloodshot, no form of emotion in them and I couldn't tell what that meant. I swiftly lowered myself down to the ground sitting my ass right
