LOGINAdele's POV
“What?!” Nessa exclaimed, and I had to bit down on my lips to stop the smirk curling at the corners of my lips. “Adele, what do you think you're doing?” She sneered, and tried grabbing my phone, but I sidestepped just in time, and kept on relaying information to the donor organization. “Eric wouldn't want that!”
“Excuse me?” I arched a brow at her. “Who do you think you are to tell me what my husband wants, and doesn't?”
“I–ermm–,” she cleared her throat awkwardly, as she was drawing attention to herself. “Eric– Dr. Pearson wouldn't have wanted to donate his organs–”
“You don't know my husband more than I, Nessa. I suggest you stay out of this,” I said harshly without mincing words.
Nessa gulped, and took a step back slightly, but I could tell she had more to say but decided against it last minute.
But hey, having her run her mouth would be to my advantage because she might end up slipping up about their affair.
But what I had in store for them was more important than an affair scandal.
“My husband was a good man,” I broke into a sob. “He's always wanted to help, even till his last breath,” I sniffled, and someone passed me a tissue.
Nessa stood around awkwardly for a few minutes before slipping away, leaving a dead..no, soon to be dead, for real this time, Eric.
The moment I realized Nessa was out of sight, and earshot, I pulled out my phone again.
At the first ring the call was answered.
“Hello, is this the crematorium?” I asked, and they confirmed. “I’d like to book a cremation.”
I wasn't leaving any way out for Eric or Nessa to play me dirty. I'm sure she's planning something right now, and I've got to be at least a hundred steps ahead of her.
The universe enjoyed good timing, because a few moments after I ended the call, a man in scrubs stopped in front of me. He was sent by the donor's organization, his team was already here retrieving another patient's organs.
“Hello, are you the one who called for a donor donation?”
“Yes,” I sniffled, still keeping my act in check. “My husband's over there,” I pointed at Eric.
Eric was taken back into the operating room, and while they made preparations to cut Eric open, I had to bite down on my lips to curb the excitement bubbling within me.
I'm supposed to be a grieving wife, not an excited golddigger who's sugar daddy is on their death bed; sadly Eric has got no gold.
“We're ready to proceed,” the representative told me. “Your husband's sacrifices won't be forgotten, and–”
“Stop!” Nessa stormed in alongside Clara, Eric's younger sister.
“What are you doing?!”Clara rushed over to Eric suddenly, pushing aside the representative. “He's not dead.”
I froze, not out of shock over the fact that she said Eric was alive, but because she knew.
They all knew, and I was the only one left in the dark.
Back in the past when her family chose to cast me aside she cried bitterly beside me and begged them not to, but It was just an act.
I stared at Clara in disbelief, tears burning at the back of my eyes at her betrayal. I've treated her like my sister, spent all my life savings supporting her dreams as an artist, and yet this is all I got in return.
“What do you mean not dead?” My voice was low, but sharp. “Are you saying that Eric is alive?”
Panic flashed through her face for a brief second, but she immediately schooled her expression.
I've got to give it to her though, she's good. No wonder she was able to fool me all those years.
“I know you're in denial, Clara,” I said calmly, but anyone with brains could tell I was anything but calm. “Eric is indeed dead. Here's his death certificate,” I handed it over to her. “Nessa signed it herself.”
“His body is still warm, Adele!” She cried dramatically, like I was the villain here.
“Ma’am your brother's organs could–”
“I said no!” She snapped. “I'm his family. I won't let you carve him up like meat.”
From the look on the donor representative's face I knew this was a lost battle. But I didn't get a second chance at life, to get used by these people again.
“Let's give her a minute alone with her brother,” I told the representative.
He nodded in understanding and we both left.
A few minutes later when I returned, I had the same glass of water Nessa had offered me.
Clara and Nessa seemed to be having a serious conversation and by the time they saw me, Clara went back to her act-crying her eyes out, and even hyperventilating.
“Here, drink this,” I offered the glass of water to her. “You need to calm down, please.”
Clara didn't hesitate. She took it in on gulp.
“Don't drink that–!” Nessa screamed.
“Why? Is there something in it?” I asked innocently.
Nessa's lips parted, but no words came out and in no time, Clara passed.
“Oh no!” I gasped dramatically-two can play the game. “She must have passed out from grief,” I added. “Please Nessa, attend to her and make sure she's fine.”
Nessa hesitated for a moment and I knew what she was thinking.
“Don't worry, I won't take his organs anymore,” I assured her with the sweetest smile ever.
That put her at ease a bit, as she took an unconscious Clara out in a wheel chair.
The option of taking Eric's organs might be off the table, but that didn't mean he was off the hook entirely.
I still had a few cards up my sleeves, but first, I needed to make sure Eric doesn't wake up anytime soon.
ANGEL'S POV I hurried out of my room as I was on my way to the casino. I had no plans of going there, but I got a call from Joe saying they got one of the men who had been hovering around the casino for some time now. What I hadn't expected was to come face to face with Adele, her hands folded as if ready to punch on my face. I blinked in confusion as I stood in confusion as I waited to see what she was trying to do but she wouldn't proceed, instead she dropped her arm awkwardly and looked at me with a cold stare before turning around, walking towards her room and slamming the door behind her, I couldn't help but chuckle out at that moment.I walked further out of the house, but came in contact with Rosalyn, she had a smile on her face like she always does. I raised my brows in anticipation for her words, then I could tell her off I wasn't gonna eat dinner tonight.“Dinners served sir!” She added politely, her eyes staring on her toe, I walked past her and she certainly knew what tha
ADELE'S POV I walked into the Dragovich's home with a bit of renewed hope. I knew Carmilia couldn't do anything about my situation but talking with her always made me feel much better. As I got to the entrance I was directed to the room they had assigned to me. Angel's room was opposite mine. He really was some clown to think I wouldn't act the way I wanted just because he was close to me. Shame on him. I threw my legs into the air in front of his room, like I was kicking off an invisible Angel. I was gonna do the same with my hands when his door pulled open, I stood frozen, my hands still in the air. He lifted his brows in confusion. Anyone would clearly have that expression on his face if they found a statue in front of their door. I hurriedly dropped my hands down, casting a cold stare at him before moving further into my room. I didn't dare to look at him knowing fully well that hurt hands were still in the door. I sighed, slammed the door as I normally do, aggressively.I saw
ADELE'S POVI spent most of my day at work worrying about going back into the Dragovich's mansion, my students clearly noticed that due to my constant mistakes. I was grateful I didn't have any classes with my teenage students or no grown up had walked in on a ballet teacher missing her steps on a regular basis. I decided to settle with the mind practice for the day. I knew it made no impact on these little kids but it was way better than tripping and embarrassing myself. I had all the kids sit and fold their legs against the other, we were going to work on our minds.“Concentrate Lily!” I snapped at one of my students who instead of shutting her eyes closed kept on peeping on Bethel who sat next to her.“But Bethel ain't praying!” She said, pointing towards Bethel who had her eyes partly closed. I heaved in frustration, I really was in no mood for these kids, I should have told their parents to come pick them up earlier today.“We're not praying,” I placed my hands on my thighs and m
ANGEL'S POV I walked hastily as Joe and some of the clan members followed behind me. I had called them all for an urgent meeting after getting news about some strange faces caught roaming around the casino. I knew there were lots of clans ready to take me out if they got the opportunity and I also was ready to put whoever dared in his place. But this wasn't a good time, I couldn't make any rash moves or risk being exposed. We had a big shipment coming and everything was supposed to go on smoothly, until then, we've got lots of restrategising to do. Joe hurried ahead of me as he pulled the door of the casino open letting me through. It was day time and the place was mostly empty during the day. I walked into what should have been my office but certainly wasn't and then down the stairs which led to a building underground. It was where the real Dragovich's business happened. The casino only was a front for our ammunition business, we were quite popular overseas when it came to dealing
ADELE'S POV “Dadaa would be clapping for joy in his grave anyways. He's always wanted Angel turning into the mean person he was. Arina kept going on and on and I slowly began to hear her voice like an echo, she had offered to give me a ride on my way out of the mansion. I needed to open the studio today, it had been three days since I opened up and I was sure I already had an unhealthy schedule waiting for me at work. Sitting next to Yuri, I realized I made the worst mistake of the day by letting her give me a lift. She only went on and on about how pissed she was Angel took me without my will. She clearly wasn't aware of it all and only got to know at the dining table after I let the words roll out of my tongue. I didn't feel a bit of fear, rather it was relief that came running out of my veins.“Adele, Adele?Arina's voice pulled me out of my thoughts and she had her eyes scanning through my face as if in anticipation for an answer. I blinked, feeling embarrassed on asking her what
ANGEL'S POV The heat in the dining hall was quite intense, I wouldn't care if I wasn't involved. It always had been that way, the Dragovich's family couldn't sit together without a war, we never were compatible and I already was used to that, but this, it certainly was different. I never wanted to bring Adele anywhere close to the family, especially Yuri, she was trouble enough. But the excitement in Arina’s voice when she asked to meet Adele made me crave the sight of the both of them together in a room. As much as I didn't want to admit it, Adele had similar traits with Arina. They both were strong willed, and most importantly daring. Having them both in a room certainly would be coarse. I had my men drag Adele into the dining room and was glad Arina arrived before Adele left. Not that I would have let her, I was glad I didn't have to coarse her for the second time.Arina was the one who was getting along with him because she did most of the talking but I and Adele did the listen
