Phidel returned home after school with her mood completely off. She pushed the door opened and strolled over to the living room slamming herself into the sofa.
Her mother who was laying in the next sofa, watching a Soap Opera deftly turned to glance at her and noticing her sulky face, sprung up. "Are you okay? You don't look good.""It's about Phidelia mum–" She grumbled, "I suddenly felt weird at school so decided to call her. I tried her line severally but couldn't get to her and she didn't even call back too." Phidel let out a weary sigh.
Jerome sat thoughtfully for some seconds and grinned, "Don't worry, She might probably be busy with school activities. Anyway, did you try your Auntie's line?"
"Yes I did and her line was also...." Just then, the door creaked opened and her father walked in. "Your Auntie said she missed your call, Phidel? He uttered as he glided in. "What was the matter?" He joined them in the living
It was 7:30pm when the cab pulled up at Phidelia's stop. She glided out of the car and slammed the door behind her. Claire scotted deftly to where Phidelia initially sat and leaned on the window of the car's door with a smile on her face, waiting patiently as Phidelia adjusted her backpack over her shoulders."See you tomorrow." She uttered as Phidelia looked up."Sure." Phidelia waved at her with a smile and the cab drove off. She turned, slowly pushing the main gate opened as she sauntered in. She strolled through the yard and glided up the porch. She slammed the door opened and shuffled in with heavy feet, exhausted. "I'm home." she announced, closing the door."How was school?" Her auntie queried from the sitting room."Not bad," She came to a halt in between the stairway and the hall. "But was quiet exhausting." She added. Isla who was sitting beside her mother with her face buried in her novel instinctively scoffed at her reply. "I bet it was." She thre
Within the next few minutes, she was done. She sauntered over to her dresser, drying her hair with the towel. Just as she got there, she threw the towel on the hanger and took out the hand dryer; drying her hair with it. Things hasn't been going on so well for the past few days but she still had to keep fighting. She looked herself up in the mirror and sighed, turning the dryer off as she dropped it on the table and took her seat, staring at her reflection. "Let's not give up Delia," She muttered to her reflection. "We have to keep fighting. We can do this." She encouraged herself, took the comb, styled her curly brown hair into a ponytail; holding it up with a sea blue ribbon. She checked the time and it was past 7:30 am. She quickly got into her uniform and snatched her backpack from her study table and rushed out of her room. She got to the hall to meet the whole house literally empty. "Aunt Emma!" she shouted and a voice answered from the basement. Just then, she heard fo
Tina and her friends were watching from some distance as Phidelia and her friends parted ways. This was her chance to get back at Phidelia, she thought to herself with a mischievous smirk pasted on her face. Rowan and herself have been family friends for a while now with her having the hope that he will one day fall in love with her. Though he pretends not to know her at school, she still had that hope but then, Phidelia appeared from no where; posing as a threat. To make matters worse, She stood up against her on her very first day in the school when she had wanted to bully Claire. That might have seemed like a joke to Phidelia but to her it was a great deal. Not to even talk of Rowan's threat to forever break any friendship with her if she kept pestering her. So she thought of a way to make Phidelia distance herself from Rowan. She stared at Phidelia's back as turned the corner to the washroom with so much hatred boiling in her heart. "Are you girls ready?" She
The knob turned once again, with an effortless attempt for the door to creak open at any point in time. They waited with bated breathe, the rate of their heart beat increased to more than usual as anxiety took the best of them. All they could wish for at that point was some supernatural powers to disappear or make themselves invisible to the impending danger which was about to explode before their eyes.Suddenly, they heard a voice called out Claire's name from behind the door, making the knob suddenly stop."Claire," the voice uttered once again as it drew a bit closer to the door. "Mrs. Park wants to see you in the staff room." The voice added."Really?" Claire's voice was skeptical. "Did she say why?" They heard her questioned whoever the informant was as their voices started to move away from the door, heading towards the staffs' common room. They instinctively sighed in relief, "That was a close one." Roxy commented. "We better get out of her now be
Rio had been sitting beside Phidel on the infirmary bed for the past hour and half now with her still unconscious. She kept glancing at her worriedly and confused of the whole situation."What really happened to her Rio?" Mina, the school nurse queried as she walked over to the bed, checking Phidel's pulse."I'm confused myself here Miss Mina. She was perfectly okay when we left the house to school this morning. Even Cora and Luna can bear me witness as we had series of assignments to work on together for our project. We were moving to the library to complete it when this happened." Rio explained.Miss Mina stared at Phidel thoughtfully and sighed. "I see nothing wrong with her Rio. Has she been going through any stress or something?""Not that I know Miss..."She replied. They were still with their thoughts, figuring out what could have caused her unconsciousness when Rio glanced at Phidel's face once again and was surprised to see it drenched with tears. "He
Phidel hurried down the alley to the main streets deeply confused. Nothing like that sort has ever happened to her. Everything looked like a transe but felt so real. Feeling her soul being pulled forcefully out of her was nerve breaking and deranging. Nothing could be compared to the dilemma that she was left in.All she wanted to do at that moment was to see her sister or hear her voice as usual. Besides that, she had to get to her mother's work place first. She walked into the busy streets with her mind occupied with ranging thoughts and almost got ran over by a cab. "Hey! Watch it!" The driver shouted, bringing her back to reality. She deftly glanced around only to find herself almost in the middle of the street, walking leisurely on the zebra crossing. She didn't even notice when she got there. "Oh my God." She grumbled, minding her steps as she found her way through the moving cars to the other side of the road."You should be careful when crossing t
The ride home was quiet and gloomy with Phidel's doleful and brooding look. Jerome kept staring at her all along, quite anxious to know what was running through her mind but she wouldn't say anything, not until they get home.It was around 4:45pm when the cab finally pulled up in front of their apartment. Phidel was the first to glide out of the car, followed by her mother. Sauntering into the house, Jerome rushed to the kitchen for a glass of water whiles Phidel slammed herself onto the sofa, tossing her bag to her left. The house was empty since they were mostly the ones to get home first. "Would you care for some water?" Jerome questioned as she turned the corner to the kitchen."No mum–" She replied, resting her back on the sofa as she stared heavenward like she could see through the ceiling. "Phidel–, Phidel–" a voice uttered softly, making her jerked up. She swiftly lurked around but saw no one. Just then, her mother walked in. The sight of her wi
Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours but they still couldn't get to Phidelia. All efforts seemed fruitless. Emma was by now shaken up with panic. There was no way she could keep her head straight. She felt the pit of stomach fell as anxiety swirled around her. "Still can't get her?" She stuttered with an almost broken voice."No mum." Isla replied, still scanning through her phone with all hopes disintegrated. "I'm not getting any of her lines." Disappointment sagged through her as she tried effortlessly to get through to Phidelia. Several more minutes past but to no avail. They were still looming in agitation when they heard the knob of the door turned. Both the swaying of the door and the turning of their heads synchronized in motion, making Martin halt at the door for a moment with everybody's gaze fixed on him.Instantly, he noticed disappointment swept up their faces as they turned away. The atmosphere felt quite dense too. "Hey," He s
