Chapter 4: His kindness

Tina started crying again. She wondered what she had gotten herself into, where she would sleep, how she would get back home to face her mother, and where she would even get the transport money to go back home to her village by that risky hour of the night. It was getting dark due to the heavy rainfall that made the night fall quickly.

While still in her thoughts, Patrick stepped out of his house. He was shocked to see Tina still standing outside and crying.

Tina was shivering due to the cold weather, and her brown dress had already soaked wet and clung to her body, bringing out her shape to his view.

Patrick knew that Tina was stubborn, but he still had to ask her what she was still waiting for. He was shocked to see that Prisca had left her behind. He stepped out to ask the security man to lock back the main entrance gate, since it was already past 9pm in the evening. Sharon had called him on the phone and told him that they weren’t arriving home.

Patrick hesitated to speak to Tina at first because he knew she was stubborn. He walked past her to tell his security gateman to lock back the house gate. Since Sharon had told him she was sleeping over at the hotel they went to.

Just as Patrick walked past Tina, she shivered in fright and shifted backwards. She wasn’t expecting anyone to walk past her.

Seeing that it was Patrick and he was also leaving the house, Tina hastily called him back: “Hello, excuse me, sir!”

Patrick paused and stared back at Tina as he heard her seductive voice. Tina stared downward, unable to meet Patrick’s intense gaze. She remembered that she had been rude to him before and didn’t even know how she would ask him for his help. She needed money to transport herself home, but she was hopeful she would find a bike to take her by that time of the night. She stammered, “Please… sir… can you…”

“Wait, I am coming first. Let me tell the security man to lock back the house gate, since Sharon and Prisca aren’t returning back and for security purposes,” Patrick said, as he met Tina’s gaze.

“Okay,” Tina gulped.

Patrick left her, and she watched him walk up to the gate house to instruct his security man. She stood and continued staring at him until he returned and said to her, “Honestly, I thought that you had already gone home with Prisca and Sharon. I’m quite surprised to still see you here, meaning that Prisca left you behind. Why not come inside and wait? You will be feeling too cold by now, and I don’t think Prisca will still be returning back here this night since she already left with Sharon.”

Patrick offered Tina his kindness. He knew she might still reject it and prefer to sleep outside, but Tina had no other option. She stood silently, remembering that she had been rude to Patrick before.

Patrick drew closer to Tina, as it began to rain once more, and he asked, "Aren't you going to say something, miss?”

“I… I…” Tina stuttered as she met Patrick’s dark, handsome gaze.

She said, “I wanted to ask you before if you can help me with transport fare to go back home to my village, but I don’t even know my way going back home. Or can you help me with transport fare and also the directions too… because I have never been to this area before, and my mom will be worried about me and looking for me, if I don’t return back home this night.”

“Hmph,” Patrick sighed, listening to Tina’s sweet voice, and replied, “I can help you with directions, but it is already late now. Before you will get to the junction that leads down to your village and start trekking home, it will be very risky and already midnight. So why not stay in for tonight? As tomorrow, first thing in the morning, I will personally drop you off before leaving to my work office in the morning.”

Tina remained silent.

Patrick hoped she would understand and calm down. He was not happy seeing her sobbing. He shook his head, walked to open the parlor door, and ushered Tina into his house. Her brown dress were already completely soaked wet and clinging to her body, bringing out her sexy shape to his view and making him a little uncomfortable, as he desired to have her.

Tina was shivering due to her wet clothes. As she stepped into Patrick’s living room and watched him lock up the parlor door, he turned to face her and said, “Wait here. Let me go inside and search in Sharon’s room for any of her clothes to give to you. Wait. I'm coming.”

Patrick went inside and brought out some of Sharon’s dresses for Tina to change into. He saw that the brown dress Tina wore were already wet and dripping water onto the tiled floor in his parlor.

Tina said to him, “Thank you, sir.” She collected the clothes from his hand. Not comfortable changing her wet dress in his presence, she asked, “Can I use the restroom?”

“Sure,” Patrick replied.

Tina swiftly went into the restroom. She was scared, and anxiety ran through her veins as she knew that she and Patrick were the only two people in the house.

Tina had no other option than to change into Sharon’s gown. After drying up her wet body, she rinsed her wet clothes, squeezed them tightly to dry, and hung them in the restroom window. She hoped they would dry before morning, so she could wear them back and go home to her family house in the village the following morning.

Tina also took off her bra and pant too, as they were already wet. She rinsed them out and hung them beside her wet clothes on the restroom window.

After dressing up in one of Sharon’s gowns that Patrick gave to her—without wearing any pant underneath her waist nor any bra to support her big boobs—Tina then stepped out of the restroom.

Dread ran through her spine as she walked back to the parlor to meet Patrick.

Patrick had already served his dinner on a stool in front of his blue couch. He was eating the delicious jollof rice and fried fishes. When he saw Tina step out, he asked her, “Will you like to join me for dinner?”

Tina hesitated at first, but feeling her stomach grumble loudly in hunger, she nodded. She hadn’t eaten since noon when she arrived, due to the silly gist that Prisca was telling her at her home and dragging her to accompany her to visit Sharon.

Patrick already knew he was dealing with a stubborn lady. He had noticed that since afternoon, when Tina arrived, she hadn’t drunk nor taken anything. He stood up from his blue couch, abandoned his food, and went to his kitchen to serve Tina’s own meal. He brought it out to her, set it on another stool and blue couch in his parlor.

Patrick was the one who cooked the meal before the rain started to fall. He knew Sharon was lazy and wouldn’t agree to cook it, so he cooked by himself to prevent any silly argument.

Patrick served the tray of food on a stool, walked back to his parlor fridge, took out a bottle of water, returned, and set it on the stool. Then he went back to his previous seat, stared at Tina who was still standing and staring at him too, and said, “That’s your meal, and I hope that you will like it?”

Patrick sat on his former seat and continued eating his dinner while Tina nervously sat down and replied, “Thank you, sir.”

Tina didn’t touch the food given to her yet. Even though she was hungry and the food really smelled delicious, she was still unhappy and wondered how her mother and siblings would be worried about her since she didn’t return home again.

Patrick continued eating. When he finished his meal, he stood up, cleared his plate to the kitchen, and returned to the parlor. He saw that Tina hadn’t even touched her food yet. He walked up to her, sat down opposite her, stared directly at her face, and asked, “Ain’t you going to eat, or you want to starve, or should I feed you?”

Tina shook her head. She stared up at Patrick’s face, meeting his dark handsome gaze, and replied, “No sir, thank you… I will eat it, but I am just worried about my mom and siblings.”

Finally, Tina picked up her spoon and started eating the jollof rice little by little while Patrick asked her, “Don’t you have a phone to at least contact your mom and tell her that you’re in a friend’s place? That the heavy rain fell and you won’t be able to return home again until tomorrow.”

“No…” Tina replied as she shook her head. She stared at her plate of food and said, “I don’t have a phone.”

“How about your mom’s phone number? Do you know it off head? Let me help you to contact her on phone?” Patrick asked, but Tina still shook her head and replied, “No, I don’t know my mom’s phone number too.”

Patrick sighed and stared away from Tina to his displayed television. Tina managed to eat half of the food given to her. As she got tired, and while Patrick got engrossed watching his television since the light came on, he stared at Tina.

Patrick admired Tina's pretty face and saw that she was dozing off and falling asleep on his couch. He saw that she was already feeling sleepy due to the cold weather and from her previous sobbing too much.

Patrick then interrupted Tina from dozing off on the couch as she nearly fell off, and he asked her, “You’re already feeling sleepy, miss. Do you want to sleep here, as you won’t be comfortable? Why not come sleep in my bedroom?”

Mella exclaimed as she stared at Evan in disbelief."Honestly, the situation at hand now is that my brother kidnapped her from the village and brought her here to live with him in the city, even with her son, and that was why Patrick arrested him. Because the said lady and his son had been declared missing by the lady's parents in the village," Evan said."Hmph..." Mella sighed with a deep frown settled on her face."
